Good day All. I have consistently followed this forum for close to 4yrs now and have been pleased with the kinds of stuffs been discussed especially as it concerns business strategies and investment. I work for a media company and have a fairly good take home pay. I am not the kind of suave business guy you might think, but lately my wife who though currently does not have a job at the moment is involved in buying and selling fabrics. I have this idle 400,000 naira and while discussing with my wife, we both agreed to invest it in any venture that would bring in more cash. We decided on the following...since my wife is with no job at the moment, we'll set up a laundary and dry cleaning outfit. We already have a structure completed in our compound as we stay in our own house. We've decided to convert our security or gateman house to the laundary outfit. My wife has already purchased two units of washing machine at 70k each, a drying unit at 50k and a few pressers. With my 400,000k we intend to buy a lister generator which we learnt is about 100,000k. We intend to secure the services of a drycleaning expert to train ONE would be staff (for now) at a cost of 20k. We intend to make flyers and stuffs with another 20k, and another logistical 50k. That makes it 190k outta my 400,000. I am contemplating giving my wife 100,000k to further boost her fabric sales business. NOW that leaves me with 110,000k excess. I can't afford to squander it so I wish to solicit for credible advise on what to invest this 100,000 in. Asides, I'll like to know from nairaland's business experts if our decision on this line of business is in the right direction? Many thanks. George. |

At a car wash recently, I watched with astonishment as a car was emptied of debris while the interior was being cleaned. One after the other came bottles of cough syrups. In all, fourteen bottles of a popular make of cough syrup were removed from the car. Upon closer inspection, I found that all the bottles came from the same production batch... No one needs a soothsayer to tell him or her that Abuja is indeed one of the fastest growing cities in Africa (if not in the world by now) both in living cost and people (yea, yea, landlords are frying people's asses in the name of rent) The steady influx of people into this city amazes me. There was a man named Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Whose well-documented life, times and tragic passing is legendary. His works live on and his music, Afrobeat, which he created ranks sacred as the classics of Mozart and Bach. His message was of activism and the path he towed was against the ruling force of his time. So the propaganda went out and his iconic status was distorted by the state-controlled media, but what they didn’t tell you was... Barely a week after the death of literary icon, Prof Chinua Achebe, arrangements are in top gear by his kinsmen, to give him a befitting burial. It was learnt that red cap chiefs and the Ogidi Town Union would hold a meeting during the Easter holiday for the purpose of making a formal announcement of his death and unveiling his burial arrangement. Key sons of Ogidi who spoke on the demise of Professor Achebe, said since he was an Ozo title holder and a key member of Ndi Ichie, formal announcement of his death and burial plan would be relayed to the community officially, after his kinsmen had made consultations with the key traditional institutions, like the red cap chiefs and the town union government. It was gathered that the direct family members of Achebe the Umunna would meet with members of his kindred and other key traditional institutions in Ogidi during the Easter holiday to announce his death formally and arrange for his burial at a future date. Already, key individuals and some groups, including relations and the head teacher of his former school, Akpakogwe Central Primary School, Ogidi, established in 1931 by Venerable Archdeacon C.T. Basden, who was then a member of the Legislative Council of Nigeria, have reacted to his passing on. read more here; http://ipledge2nigeria.com/index.php/blogs/entry/how-achebe-inspired-our-education-say-students-of-his-former-school.html |
