PoliticsBreaking News :boko Haram Attacks Shop In Damaturu by adehsenior(op): 4:53pm On Oct 07, 2015
Residents of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, have disclosed that no fewer than twenty-seven (27) people were killed on Wednesday Morning when suicide bombers on bike attacked and detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in a shop along Damaturu – Gashua road. Hamisu Mohammed Gadaka told DAILY POST that contrary to earlier claims that the explosion occurred at an estate, the explosion was actually at a shop near an estate along Gahua road. According to him, “It was so sad we lost 27 people this morning in Damaturu as a result of suicide attack in one of the shops along Gashua road. Some of the people who were outside when the explosion occurred said they saw the suicide bomber when he was approaching and suspected that the way he was riding the bike seems suspicious, but unfortunately our attitude to such occasion is that people see things, suspect it but ignore it. “I was actually in the house when I heard the sound of the explosion, and by the time I came out some human parts were already at the front of our house. We were helping when the security operatives arrived and asked us to clear from the scene of the explosion,” Hamisu told our reporter on phone. He continued that when they left, the security operative secured the area and the corpses were evacuated to the Sani Abacha General Hospital in the state capital. Another resident, Umar Kalamu told DAILY POST that over 30 people were evacuated to the hospital, among them eleven (11) were already confirmed dead while six (6) others died in the hospital upon arrival. He noted that other injured victims are in critical situation as at the time he left the Sani Abacha Specialist hospital in Damaturu. There is no official confirmation of the number of deaths from the incident by the police as at the time of filing this report.

Politics107 Dead In Army, Boko Haram Clash At Military Barracks In Yobe by adehsenior(op): 8:25am On Oct 07, 2015
No fewer than 107 persons have been
reported dead as members of the dreaded
sect, Boko Haram, invaded a military base
in Yobe State.
Casualty figure on the side of Boko Haram
was put at no fewer than 100, while seven
soldiers died.
The Boko Haram insurgents were said to
have invaded the base of the 120 Task
Force Battalion troops located at Goniri,
Yobe State, with the aim of overrunning it.
However, the troops overpowered them.
The Acting Director of Army Public
Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, confirmed
the development.
Usman said in a statement: “The fleeing
Boko Haram terrorists in a great sign of
desperation and to create an impression
that they remain relevant, at the early
hours of today made a futile attempt on
120 Task Force Battalion troops located at
Goniri, Yobe State.
“During the encounter our gallant troops
successfully repelled the attacked and
inflicted heavy casualty on the invading
terrorists as all of them were killed. On the
last count over 100 terrorists bodies were
seen. Unfortunately however, 7 of our
gallant soldiers paid the supreme price
while defending our fatherland, while 1
officer and 8 soldiers were wounded in
action.
“During the encounter, the troops have
recovered a sizeable arms, ammunitions
and other equipment from the terrorists.
These include 1 General Purpose Machine
Gun, 2 Rocket Propelled Grenades, 9 AK-47
rifles and Belted rounds of 7.62 (NATO)
ammunitions. Others were various wires
used for Improvised Explosive Devices
(IEDs), 7 Primed IEDs, different types of
Spanners and a Torch Light.
“The troops have consolidated on the
encounter and more determined to defend
their location and continued to serve as
blocking force to any fleeing terrorists from
the Nigerian Air Force aerial bombardments
and other troops artillery fire.
“In a related development, troops of 21
Brigade on fighting patrol from Bama to
Ngurosoye, have destroyed Boko Haram
terrorists camps along that axis. While on
patrol, the brave soldiers came across
some of the terrorists hideouts that also
served as fabricating area for IEDs and the
terrorists’ training area. Another patrol
along Bama-Kawuri axis discovered and
exhumed IEDs and wires for detonation.
“It is important to reiterate that the
Nigerian Army along with the support of
the Nigerian Air Force and other Security
Agencies would not relent in its determined
effort of defeating Boko Haram terrorists.

PoliticsUK Crime Agency Replies Vanguard by adehsenior(op): 6:37am On Oct 07, 2015
ABUJA—The United Kingdom, UK, National Crime Agency has said that the £27,000 (N9,180,000) seized from the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was not related to her arrest.

The agency, in response to an enquiry by Vanguard, said that cash seizure in the UK does not need to be related to an arrest.

Furthermore, NCA’s Press Office confirmed, in an electronic mail sent to Vanguard in Abuja yesterday, that apart from the £27,000 recovered from the former minister, ‘smaller sums’ were also seized from two other individuals, who it declined to name.
On why it had not revealed the identities of those arrested along with the former minister, the agency made it clear that it does not confirm the identities of individuals it arrests unless there was specific operational requirement to do so.

Vanguard had written to the agency, Monday, asking to be availed of the time and place where the money was seized from Alison-Madueke and when she would be charged to court.

NCA’s mail

The agency replied yesterday, saying: “We can confirm that £27,000 was seized from Diezani Alison-Madueke at Westminster Magistrate’s Court along with smaller sums from two other individuals. But we are not providing any further detail at this time.

“Cash seizure in the UK does not need to be related to an arrest. The NCA does not confirm identities of individuals at arrest, unless there is a specific operational requirement to do so.

“There is no further information we are offering at this time.”

The agency skipped discussion on when the Nigerians, now on bail in the UK, would be formally charged for money laundering and bribery, fuelling speculations that the agency had not completed their findings.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied arresting one of the oil players in the country, identified as a close business associate of the former oil minister and Atlantic Energy Chairman, Olajide Omokore.
However, Vanguard learned that the commission interrogated Omokore and released him on administrative bail.

‘EFCC quizzed Omokore’
A source in EFCC told Vanguard that Omokore reported at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Monday morning, on the invitation of the agency.

The source told Vanguard, on condition of anonymity, that the oil baron denied any wrongdoing.

The source told Vanguard in Abuja last night: “Omokore came and was promptly grilled on many issues relating to what he did during the tenure of the former minister and was released on administrative bail.”

Contacted, the spokesman for EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said: “I am not aware of the development. Once I have information on that I will make it available to you.”
