SUE THE BASTARD, DEFEND THE FOOL. That is one of the disgusting captions you find on the sticker pasted on lawyers vehicles. Does that mesn everyone defended by a laywer is a FOOL? Calling same people who pays for your servicesis a FOOL is a wrong way to advertise your services. . I've seen captions like Trouble na my work, bring am. Probably the only decent one I ever saw was My Daughter is a Lawyer. Share such captions you saw recently. |

I think the University nees to take students welfare and medical issues more seriously. Another promising Nigerian lost to our societal greed for money. The issue should be investigated and whoever is found culpable should be made to face the music. |
Chram:Thanks for the corrections but I don't teach English Language. I teach mathematics/further mathematics. So that don't really matter. |
For me, it's a mixed bag of the beautiful, the good, the bad and but never the ugly. The beautiful: apart from prompt payment of fees and allowances...the beautiful offers free services e.g a parent once provided free legal service which I had some funds held up in a commercial bank, another treated my kids free of charge in her hospital. Another one facilitated the admission and treatment of my younger sister for a life-threatening condition in a teaching hospital. The beautiful forms a life-long relationship with you. This precious class is few The good: They pay promptly, serve refreshments and treats you generally good. Give you presents on special occasions like birthdays, Christmas etc. A sign they appreciate your effort. But the relationship ends when the service ends. I have a lot of clientele in this class as well The Bad-they don't pay as at when due but most pay at the end of the day. I don't really have a grudge against them because some of them are struggling parents who are also trying to make ends meet but want the best for their kids all the same. A long list of this also abounds on my list. The ugle-i have heard about them but have never been a victim of this class. Probably because of the class of students I teach. These are parents who fight, curse and beat up their kids teacher even with unpaid fees. Aggressive and violent parents. This is the worst type of parents you can ever deal with. |
“When I went to pick up my PhD form, I thought I would not make it. Lecturers nearly made me quit my PhD pursuit — Patience Jonathan Mrs Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan, has revealed that she nearly abandoned her pursuit of a Doctor of Philosophy due to the constant pressure and challenges she faced from her lecturers. She recently earned a PhD in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education during the institution’s 43rd Postgraduate Convocation Ceremony. Speaking during a testimony time on Sunday at Streams of Joy International Church, led by Pastor Jerry Eze, the former First Lady recounted her difficult academic journey, marked by moments of frustration and self-doubt. Jonathan admitted that the demands of academic life, particularly the repeated assignments and high expectations from lecturers, nearly pushed her to the brink. Reflecting on her experience, she said in her characteristic voice, as the congregation cheered and laughed, “At times, my lecturer would get me angry and say, ‘Go and repeat this page.’ “Shey this man don’t know that I’m old. “Very soon, I will leave this place and rest because what will I do with it? It’s just to keep the brain moving. “But to God be the glory. That thing that seemed impossible, God made it possible, and I graduated.” Despite her prominent background and previous public service, Jonathan said it was not a path she envisioned for herself after serving in high political office. https://punchng.com/lecturers-nearly-made-me-quit-my-phd-pursuit-patience-jonathan |
Let's wait and hope its for the benefit of the Nigerian masses. |
It's been going for a while now. As we speak I have 2 students I teach online and its going on fine. Its just that you must know your onions and be ready to adapt because of differences in the curricula of the two countries involved. You may also need to spend money to get the necessary materials like the recommended texts and past questions. |

Opay and Moniepoint, two of Nigeria’s prominent fintech companies, communicated the change to their customers through a message titled “FGN Electronic Money Transfer levy,” which began circulating on Saturday. “Please be informed that starting September 9th, 2024, a one-time fee of N50 will be applied to electronic transfers of N10,000 and above paid into your personal or business account in compliance with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) regulations. “It is important to note that OPay does not benefit from this charge in any way as it is directed entirely to the Federal Government,” it said. The N50 fee is a one-time charge that will be applied to each eligible transfer in line with the government’s directive. This development follows the enforcement of the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), a tax introduced by the Nigerian government under the Finance Act 2020. The EMTL mandates a fixed levy of N50 on electronic receipts or transfers of funds, facilitating the collection of revenue to support the country’s fiscal needs. The tax is levied on transactions processed through any money transfer or payment system and applies to amounts of above N10,000 |
I was about making a transaction on my bank mobile app when I saw the information. That the implementation of electronic money transfer levy (EMTL) now applies to transactions above N10,000. In this economic situation....I think FIRS is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians. |

Yes it is if you can buy in large numbers to enjoy economy of scale. Especially now that transport fare is high. You may need to work with Cattle traders in the North and be ready to travel there to see things for yourself |
