Jobs/VacanciesRe: CDCFIB Physical Screening Date Released by adeoyekay(m): 5:36pm On Jun 17
seunmsg:
This particular round of recruitment is as good as concluded. If you’re not on the shortlist, then it’s time to forget it.

However, the good news is that Mr. President has given another approval for the recruitment of 40k personnel into the NSCDC. The recruitment process will commence immediately the ongoing 30k recruitment is concluded. So, keep your ears to the ground for the next one.
Does the invitation mean someone will definitely get the job, my sister applied and she has been invited for screening

Mother Of Kidnapped GUO Transport Bus Passenger Cries Out As Abductors Demand N50Million Ransom

In a viral video seen on X by SaharaReporters, the visibly distressed mother appealed to Nigerians for help, saying she could not afford the ransom demanded by the abductors.

They came to kidnap my pikin for road and they called me say make I bring N50 million. I no get N50 million. Abeg, I dey beg for N10 million. Dem never answer me. Abeg, make people help me (They came and kidnapped my child on the road and called me, demanding N50 million. I don’t have N50 million. Please, I am begging for N10 million. They have not responded to me. Please, I am asking for help),” she cried in pidgin English.

She added that the kidnappers had issued a deadline for payment, heightening fears for her daughter’s safety.

Dem don give me time say around 4 o’clock (They have given me a deadline, saying around 4 o’clock),” she said, suggesting the abductors had set a strict ultimatum.

The mother, who identified herself as a widow, said Christiana’s father is deceased and that she has no means of raising such a large sum.

“I be widow. Christiana no get papa. My husband don die. Abeg, make una help me (I am a widow. Christiana does not have a father. My husband is dead. Please, I am asking.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that suspected kidnappers ambushed a GUO Transport bus along the Benin–Ore axis of the expressway, shot dead the driver, and abducted several passengers.

Eyewitness accounts and viral videos from the scene showed that the attackers forcefully dragged passengers into the bush after killing the driver, leaving behind what observers described as a “Monday morning horror.”

The incident further highlights the worsening insecurity along the Benin–Lagos Expressway, a major transport corridor that has repeatedly witnessed kidnappings and other violent attacks.

The fate of Christiana and other abducted passengers remains uncertain, as families continue to wait anxiously for any sign of progress in efforts to secure their release.

RomanceRe: Asking Random Girls For Phone Numbers On The Street; What's the chances? by adeoyekay(m): 7:00pm On Apr 13
Icareforyou:
Good evening Nairalanders,

I was discussing with a friend on the topic and I would like to hear your experiences or opinion : Do you think it's possible to approach a random girl on the street and get her phone number?

I told my friend that it's super tough for a girl to give out her phone number to a guy on the road, I told him the success rate is like 2 out of 100, no matter how smooth, packaged or charming you are .

I opined that I think social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc., are way more effective for connecting with people in this digital age but he disagreed.

I did a social experiment with car and without car to see if a girl would accept to give her phone number to someone on the first meet but the attempts were almost like a joke ( although it was a bit fun since it was just an experiment)

Even in my campus days, I always laughed at my department guys who approached random girls for phone number because it was never successful.

I have seen it work also but that was in areas where the girls did it because they were scared of the environment.

So back to the question:

Guys, have you had any success asking girls for numbers on the street? Girls, would you give a guy your number if he asked on the first meet? Share your experiences!

Let's discuss.
It depends on the girl, I approached a lady on street, she quickly collect my contact without hesitate. Then, I was not even with my phone then before I got home she has been calling my number
It depends on you and the person

BusinessRe: What ₦50,000 Bought In 2020 Vs What It Buys Today — The Numbers Are Painful by adeoyekay(m): 3:11am On Apr 10
truxperteam:
Quick update on the numbers since this thread started:

Dollar rate today — ₦1,374. That's another slide from the ₦1,378 I quoted on Sunday. The naira just keeps drifting.

Adeoyekay mentioned cement at ₦13,000 a bag. That one hit different because in 2020 a bag of cement was around ₦3,500. That's nearly 4x increase. Anyone trying to build or renovate right now is basically watching their budget double in real time.

The NLC just announced they are banning indoor May Day celebrations and ordering street protests over the ₦70,000 minimum wage. Think about that — the minimum wage is ₦70,000 but a bag of rice alone is ₦85,000. One bag of rice costs more than the entire minimum monthly wage. That is the real state of things.

Wealthyonos raised the political angle and I think that's the core question now as 2027 approaches. Nigerians are clearly suffering but the same pattern repeats every election cycle.

So let me ask this — what would actually need to change for ₦50,000 to mean something again? Is it exchange rate stability, fuel price, local production, or something else entirely?
NLC and TUC should channel their energy on something else than clamouring for increment in minimum wage. It would have been better if the price of goods and commodity are reduce than increasing wages with no impact on the masses

Our naira has no value again compare to other countries if care is not taking the exchange of goods will be highly outrageous

Nairaland GeneralReflecting On Life And Priorities: A Call To Action by adeoyekay(op): 6:05pm On Apr 01
A recent fatal accident has shocked our community, leaving us with a sobering reminder of life's fragility. As we reflect on the incident, it's clear that it could happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

In the age of social media, it's easy to get caught up in capturing moments, but let's not forget the value of human life. Instead of snapping photos or recording videos, let's prioritize saving lives.

Let's reorient our priorities and focus on what truly matters – empathy, compassion, and humanity. Let's make a conscious effort to put people first and technology second.

In the face of adversity, let's choose to be the best version of ourselves and make a positive impact on those around us.
