Gongo Aso serve as the title of 9ice’s second album effort in the music scene. The album which covered many themes including success, originality, partying and women, as well as themes on the institution of marriage and gratitude shot him to arguably the highlights of his diminishing career. With hit songs like Gongo aso, party rider and street credibility featuring the legendary 2face Idibia, 9ice carted home many awards including the MTV MAMAs Award and the prestigious MOBO AND Kora Awards in 2008. Nigerian Music Industry — Mr Eazi

Rising singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade, aka Mr Eazi, has been in the eye of the storm lately over some statements he has been making. During a recent radio interview, the singer had claimed that the practice of infusing Ghanaian sounds and slangs into Nigerian music was started by him. And that, other artistes in the country are now copying his ‘formula’ in order to have hit songs like him. Immediately the video recording of the interview surfaced on the Internet, Nigerians lambasted him for making false claims.

The dust had yet to settle down on that incident before the controversial singer also claimed that he rejected an oil and gas job that would have fetched him $6,000 per month in order to pursue his music career. Meanwhile, some Nigerians shared pictures of Mr Eazi’s LinkedIn page, which showed that the singer only worked as an intern at Schlumberger for six months in 2010.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, the singer stood by his words. “The interview that caused this uproar was just me speaking my mind and saying things the way I see it from my perspective. It wasn’t meant to be an insult to any Nigerian artiste. You cannot deny that I brought a new vibe to the industry and I believe everybody can see that. Now, there are lots of Nigerian artistes who use Ghanaian words and melodies in their songs, but they’ve never been to Ghana. So how did they get to know about those words? There are a lot more songs out now that have that Ghanaian influence, and with all due respect, I can boldly say that started after my songs started gaining popularity.”

Asked to mention one artiste that has ‘copied’ his style, the dreadlocks-wearing singer said, “I don’t have to mention anybody’s name. I am sure that those who are discerning know what I’m talking about.”

Speaking on the $6,000 job he allegedly turned down for music, Mr Eazi said, “I turned down the job; I didn’t say I had started working there. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being an intern. I don’t have anything to gain by lying about such a thing. The truth remains that I was offered a job by Schlumberger, but I decided not to take it, but rather concentrated on my career. And that is a decision I’ve never regretted till date.

Dangerous Sèx Positions

In a new study called the “relationship between sexual position and severity of penile fracture” published on the International Journal of Impotence Research, doctors have analysed which sex positions were the most dangerous for men.

In the new research, although “Missionary” is regarded as the least exotic and adventurous of all the positions, it came out as second most dangerous, while “Doggy style” took the top spot and “Cowgirl” came in third – because the penis is more likely to be bent too much at an angle in these two positions.

In the study, experts looked at the “relationship between sexual position and severity of penile fracture” in heterosexual partnerships and they then categorised different sex positions according to which posed the most danger to men.

It was learnt in the study that “doggy style” was the biggest offender, causing 41 per cent of penile fractures.

Missionary was the second most threatening, causing 25 per cent of penile fracture cases, followed by sex with the woman of top.

The doctors gathered data by examining 90 patients who had been diagnosed with penile fractures and subsequently assessed the dangers of different sex positions by analysing the mechanisms of each individual’s injury.

Participants had an average age of 39.

They also found that missionary and “doggy style” showed more associations with “bilateral fractures of the corpus cavernosum and urethral lesions.”

Despite being one of the more popular positions, ‘doggy style’ can lead to the unsuspecting man hitting a woman’s pelvic bone, causing it to potentially snap.

‘We do not observe differences between the severity of the penile fracture between the “doggy style” and “man-on-top”, but the “doggy style” had more severity of penile fracture when compared with “woman-on-top,” the experts said.

Adekunle Gold’s Mother

At the official launch of X3M singer, Simi‘s debut album “Simisola” held recently, Hip TV caught up with her mother and Adekunle Gold‘s mother as they both explained how their kids ventured into music and the challenges.

Mothers of Adekunle Gold and Simi have spoken about their children’s exploit in the music industry and also the relationship between the duo. They both also talked about how it felt like when their children said they wanted to do music.

Simi’s mum said about Simi:

‘Even when she was in school she has always said she likes to be into music, she knew what she wanted to do and I have been encouraging her and any parent should encourage his or her child. Do not force your own ideas on your child. So she wanted to be in music and I pray for her, encourage her, entrust her into the hands of God so I am happy that she is doing what she is happy doing’.

‘If she was working in the bank she wouldn’t be a happy person, this is what she wanted to do, she is happy doing it and I am happy for her’.

Simi’s mum also spoke about how it was when her daughter was yet to make it big in the music industry.

‘At the beginning when the music was not moving on well, but being a child of God I’ve always trusted God that eventually thing will work out better and we are where we are today’.

Speaking in an interview with HipTV, Adekunle Gold’s mum revealed the tussle within the family when her son decided to go into music. She said she was surprised when Adekunle Gold wanted to quit his job for music adding that he is the only son and the first child.

Abu Dhabi Based Nigerian Woman

High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Maitama, has remanded an Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirate UAE) based Nigerian lady, Rita Chinenye Ani, her elder sister, Ngozi Stella Ani (A.K.A Princess) in prison custody over alleged human trafficking.

The sisters and two other persons Ozigi Abdulkarim and Princewill James were on Thursday, arraigned before the Court presided over by Hon. Justice Yusuf Halilu by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

They were taken to Court by NAPTIP on a 10 Count Charge that ran contrary to Sections 13, 14, 18 and 26(b) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015. The NAPTIP legal team was led by Mr Aondona Orti, Chief Legal Officer.

The defendants were recently arrested by operatives of NAPTIP in two operations in Gwarimpa, Abuja and Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Rita, who returned home from Abu Dhabi to perform her traditional marriage rites preparatory to moving to the United Kingdom with her fiancé, was arrested in Ibadan by the newly established NAPTIP- Rapid Response Squad (NAPTIP-RRS).

The lid of these suspects was blown recently when one of the victims returned from Abu Dhabi after 4 months of forced prostitution by Rita and under very excruciating conditions including flogging and the insertion of hot boiling ring into her vagina when she does not make enough money a day and forceful collection of the proceeds of the prostitution from her by Rita.

The Victim (Name withheld) who is 19 years old was recruited from Gwarimpa, Abuja by her ex-boyfriend Ozigi Abdulkarim, Ngozi Stella Ani and Princewill James for onward transfer to Rita Ani in Abu Dhabi UAE. They prepared her travel documents, took her to Ogbomoso, Oyo State where fetish oath was administered on her before the journey.

When the case came up Friday, the four defendants who were represented by Counsel pleaded not guilty to the 10 counts charge proffered against them. Counsel to Rita and the elder sister Ngozi did not file a formal application for bail; hence the Presiding Judge ordered that they be remanded in prison custody.

Their Counsel had earlier made an oral application to the Court for them to be remanded in NAPTIP custody which the Court turned down.

Ozigi Abdulkarim and Princewill James on the other hand, had through their Counsel, M. Ojobor and Ugochukwu Opara made a formal application for their bail.

The Judge granted them bail based on the conditions that they must provide 2 Sureties each and that the Sureties must not be below the rank of a Director in the Public Service in Abuja. The Sureties who must own a house each in the FCT must show proof of being in service by presenting their letters of first appointment and last promotion.

The case was subsequently adjourned to Wednesday13th September, 2017 for hearing.

Naked Woman Parades Through Italian City

A naked woman was filmed brazenly walking through a park in Italy while a group of men gawked at her then followed and tried to touch her.

Daughter’s Private Part In Abuja

A business woman, Mercy​ Segun, 42, was on Wednesday arraigned at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja for allegedly beating her daughter and pouring pepper into her sex organ.

Segun, who resides at Idu Gbagyi, Karmo, is facing a three-count charge of criminal force, assault and causing hurt to a minor.

The Prosecutor, Mrs Florence Auhioboh, told court that the defendant’s neighbour, one Gift Afegua, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on Aug. 22.

She alleged that Segun, knowing her daughter to be a minor, ill-treated her by pouring grinded pepper into the girl’s sex organ.

Auhioboh told the court that the defendant’s action caused the minor serious pain.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 246, 265 and 238 and of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, denied the charges.
The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted Segun bail in the sum of N30, 000 with a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until Sept. 25 for hearing.

Human Pepper Soup Dealer

A suspected cannibal and member of a kidnap gang, Roland Peter, has been arrested by the police in Rivers State for killing, beheading and using liver and intestines of his victim to prepare pepper soup.

The suspect was said to be among the kidnappers that abducted, killed and beheaded one Pastor Samuel Okpara from Edoha in the Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state on August 15, 2017.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zaki Ahmed, who paraded Peter and 22 other suspects at the state police command headquarters in Port Harcourt on Monday, explained that guns used by the gang were also in the suspect’s possession.

He stated that the kidnap gang, including its leader, identified simply as Justus aka High Tension, had been terrorising some parts of the Ahoada East LGA.

“The command, in continuation of its onslaught against kidnapping, arrested one Roland Peter, a member of a notorious gang that kidnapped Pastor Samuel Okpara from the Edoha Ahoada East LGA in Rivers State,” Ahmed told Punchng.com.

“Pastor Okpara was kidnapped, killed and beheaded. His liver and intestines were used to prepare pepper soup and plantain pottage. The suspect was arrested while preparing the meal for his gang. He is helping the police in their investigation.”

Woman Drugs Her Ex-Boyfriend

Some people can go the extra mile when a relationship goes sour. In the case of Anna Gibson, 38, from Cincinnati, she drugged her ex and tattoed her face all over his body, leaving almost no bare skin.

After the assault, Andrew Whitmore, 44, woke up in incredible pain and soaked in blood in his ex’s apartment and realized only moments later what had really happened to him. His chest, arms, legs, back, posterior and even his genitals was covered in tattoes of his ex-girfriend’s face.

“She even tattooed her face on my dick,” Andrew told reporters in shock. “I can’t even go pee without seeing her face on my dick and balls.”

“She kept screaming, no one will ever want to sleep with you again. You are mine, mine!!!” he recalls.

There were 77 tattoos in all. Officer Elliot Brown and Douglas Thompson of the Cincinnati Police Department admit they’d never heard of such a case in all their years in the police force.

Surprisingly, Whitmore did not file any complaint against his ex-girlfriend. Even more surprising are reports that the couple have started dating again.

Whitmore explained why he did not file complaints against her. He said: “Overall, I kind of felt guilty. over the whole deal. I’m the one who cheated on her like forty times and got her hooked on crystal meth and crack cocaine.”

“And now that I’m tattooed with her face all over my body, ass cheeks and genitals, seriously, would anybody else want to hook up with me?” he said jokingly. “I mean, at the end, a vagina is a vagina, and women are basically all crazy, so why not stick around with her? The billionaire business woman who did not hold any public appointment during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has dragged Unity Bank to the High Court of Lagos State for allowing the EFCC to Post No Debit (PND) on her accounts without a valid court order. According to Hajia Shagaya, the action taken on her accounts violates Section34 (1) of the EFCC Act, 2004.

According to documents which Shagaya filed and deposed to at the Court by her counsel, Napoleon Emeaso-Nwachukwu, the withdrawal ban placed on one of her accounts has prevented her from defraying N514, 800,000 incurred as cumulative costs in the course of an Aircraft Lease Agreement of a Bombardier Jet

However, Unity Bank says its hands are tied by the law in complying with the EFCC’s directives to freeze Shagaya’s accounts.

The EFCC in a letter to the Unity Bank Managing Director in respect of one of the frozen accounts said: “The commission is investigating a case in which the above-mentioned account featured. In view of the above, you are requested to kindly check the table below and provide us with Certified True Copies (CTC) of the following information, which should include but not limited to the following: (i) The deposit slips/telex copies (front and back) that conveyed the authority of the transactions; (ii) Any investment made with the funds in any of your products which should include fixed/term deposit and their liquidation and the interest incurred, Banks Acceptance, Commercial Papers and any other relevant information in relation to these”.

The EFCC listed the transactions in the said account as “N300m(Bola Shagaya RTGS); N300m (Additional N300FTD at 15% TRAN); N500m (Time Deposit); N2,317,013,698.64 (BNG COLLAOS FOR FTD-CUSTOMER ACCOL); N2.3billion (Opening a Time Deposit Account); N292, 495, 029.82 (Withdrawal from Time Deposit); N292, 495, 029.82 (TAK Asset Mgt Limited); N300m (Term Loan booked for 356 days); and N2,025,455,015.08 (BNG COLLAPS OF FTD Customer Account.”

In a separate letter Cr: 3000/EFCC/LS/STF/ STF3MP/ Vol.11/182 which Shagaya made available to the court, the EFCC asked Unity Bank to Post No Debit(PND) on 10 accounts linked with her. The account names are (i) First Deep Water Discovery Limited; (ii) Bola Shagaya; (iii) FAPLiNs Nigeria Limited (iv) Lingo Nigeria Limited; (v) Buri Barclays BDC; (vi) Links Global Synergy Ltd; (vii) OKIOIL Nig. Ltd; (vii) JEMARVIZ Nig Ltd; (ix) PJ Oil and Gas Ltd; and (x) AFDIN Ventures Ltd.

The anti-graft commission said: “The commission is investigating a case in which the above mentioned accounts featured. You are requested to kindly place the account on Post No Debit (PND) category pending the conclusion of the investigation. This request is made pursuant to Section 38(1) and (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 and Section 21 of Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011.”

In the third letter, the EFCC said it was looking into two other accounts including Voyage Oil and Gas and Bola Shagaya from 2008 to date.

It said: “The commission is investigating a case in which the above mentioned accounts featured. In view of the above, you are requested to kindly provide us with Certified True Copies (CTC) of the following information which should include but not limited to the following: (i) The Mandate Card and statement(s) of all domiciliary and Naira account(s) in the above mentioned accounts from 2008 to date with letter of certification in accordance with Section 84 of the Evidence Act 2011; (ii) any investment made with the funds in any of your products which should include fixed/term deposit and their liquidation and the interest incurred, Bank Acceptance, Commercial Papers and any other relevant information related to these. You are further requested to kindly place the account on Post No Debit (PND) category pending the conclusion of investigation.”

But Shagaya accused Unity Bank of complicity on her travails following the bank’s alleged failure to exercise the requisite due diligence.

She said the freezing of her accounts did not comply with Section 34(1) of the EFCC Act, 2004. She specifically referred to the bank’s refusal to allow her to make transactions on Account 000326118 including payment of N514, 800,000 to Global Apex Air Limited, through Heavywind Integrated Services, for the lease of a bombardier Jet.

She said the Aircraft Lease Agreement between her and Global Apex Air Limited has been terminated with her forfeiting US$1million.

In an affidavit she deposed to the court, Shagaya said: “The official of the Defendant (Unity Bank) whom my Personal Assistant relayed the development to, informed him that on the 3rd of November, 2016, the Defendant received a letter from the EFCC through their Lagos office informing it that my account with it is under investigation and requested that the account be put on “Post No Debit” pending the outcome of the investigation hence the Defendant’s inability to honour my payment instruction. Initially I laughed off the excuse as a ploy of the Defendant to deter me from taking legal actions against it for dishonouring my payment instructions especially that of the 31st of October 2016 which ultimately led to the termination of the Aircraft Lease with Global Apex Air Ltd. And the loss of the sum of One Million United States Dollars deposited with the Lessor by me. On the 27th of January, 2017 the Defendant responded to my Solicitor’s letter. In its response, the defendant stated that: “it observed that long before your client forwarded her cheques and payment instruction to the Bank as indicated in your letter under reference, the EFCC had formally informed the Bank that an investigation relating to your client’s account was ongoing and sought the cooperation on the Bank accordingly.” The Defendant’s letter ended by stating that “Based on our understanding and the fact that the Bank was already aware that the Law Enforcement Agency had taken definite steps to comply with Section 34(1) of the EFCC Act, 2004, behoves the Bank not to allow the dissipation or removal funds in your client’s account without appropriate clearance from the Law Enforcement Agency or a judicial order directing the release of the funds to your client. I will also contend at the hearing of this Suit that the Defendant negligently and wrongfully failed to exercise the requisite due diligence and by extension, the duty of care it owed me as my banker prior to complying with the alleged freezing instruction from the EFCC. The Defendant did not request and ensure it was obliged the Freezing Order from a court of competent jurisdiction prior to complying with the instruction to freeze the Claimant’s account. The Defendant failed to honour the Claimant’s payment instructions of the 31st of October 2016 as well as those of the 1st and 2nd November 2016 which preceded the alleged instruction from the EFCC. The Defendant failed to promptly notify the Claimant of the freezing other account. The freezing of the Claimant’s account did not comply with Section 34(1) of the EFCC Act, 2004. Since the unlawful freezing of my account by the Defendant, I have not been able to transact with that account due to my inability to access same thereby causing business losses and opportunities. By reason the Defendant’s action, I have suffered loss of reputation and damages and my person brought to disrepute, public opprobrium and odium. The actions of the Defendant which consist in unlawfully freezing my account without an Order of a Court of competent jurisdiction and failing to disclose same to me promptly was unreasonable as well as defamatory of me before my business associates who now see me as a criminal and an untrustworthy fellow who is in the habit of issuing due cheques and payment instructions that she knew would not be honoured”.

She said she had lost a lot of business goodwill since her accounts were frozen including

– The loss of $1,000,000 deposited with Global Apex Air Ltd. Due to her in ability to pay accrued costs in line with Aircraft Lease Agreement which was occasioned by the failure of the Defendant to oblige the Claimant’s payment instruction to Heavywind Integrated Services.

– Loss of business opportunities and goodwill occasioned by her inability to operate her account domiciled with the Defendant due to its freezing.

– Loss of reputation occasioned by the Defendant’s wrongful dishonouring of her payment instructions to third parties.

“If not compelled by this Court, the Defendant will not on its own volition unfreeze my account even when it is glaring the Defendant had wrongfully breached the duty of care it owes complying with an illegal instruction in freezing my account.”

But in a letter to Shagaya’s counsel, Unity Bank said it has a legal and ethical responsibility to render assistance to law enforcement agencies. The bank explained its constraints in a letter by its Head, Legal Services Department, Mr. Alaba Williams and Mr. Olusegun Olukoya of the same department. Part of the bank’s letter reads

“While the Bank respects the contractual nature of the relationship with your client, it is without prejudice to the Bank’s standing as a responsible law abiding Corporate Citizen. In spite of the Bank’s contractual relationship with your client, that relationship is not without a legal and ethical responsibility to render assistance to law enforcement agencies when required of the Bank. Considering the sensitive nature of the investigation touching your client’s account as advised by the EFCC in October 2016, the Bank had to exercise caution in relation to further transactions, especially debits, in the account of your client under investigation. The need for the Bank to exercise due caution in the matter of the operation of your client’s account after receipt of notification of the ongoing investigation by the EFCC was informed by our understanding of various existing statutory provisions relevant to the request of the EFCC received by the Bank. Based on our understanding and the fact that the Bank was already aware that the Law Enforcement Agency had taken definite steps to comply with section 34(1) the EFCC Act, 2004. It behoves the Bank not to allow the dissipation or removal of the funds in your client’s account under investigation, before the Court Order seeking to preserve the funds was obtained. The contractual relationship between your client and the Bank does not permit us to pre-empt the investigation by the Law Enforcement Agency and the related Court Proceedings which outcome could lead to forfeiture of the funds in the same account. The Bank could be considered an accessory after the fact if it allowed the dissipation of the funds in your client’s account without appropriate clearance from the Law Enforcement Agency or a judicial order directing the release of the funds to your client. Therefore contrary to the allegation in your letter, the Bank had a proper justification for refusing the payment instructions from your client for funds to be removed from her account in issue when there was an ongoing investigation by the EFCC in respect of the said funds. The Bank is therefore not in breach of any contractual obligation to your client. The Bank is also not liable to your client for the sum of N700,000,000.00 (Seven Hundred Million Naira) or any other sum that matter as damages claimed by you. Please, note that Unity Bank Plc. is committed to comply with the extant laws and Regulations of all competent Authorities and Jurisdictions. In addition to adopting best practices; ethical and legal considerations always guide our commercial decisions protecting the good name and the reputation of the bank remains the primary consideration in all actions taken by the Bank. Accordingly, the Bank protects its products and services from being involved in allegation of unlawful activities. Hence we will cooperate fully with all Regulators and Law enforcement Agencies. We are of the humble opinion that your client should kindly resolve any outstanding issues with the Law Enforcement Agency and facilitate the removal of the “Post No Debit” on her account with the Bank. Litigation against the Bank will therefore not be necessary in the circumstance.”

Hearing of the matter is slated for September 28.
