An innovative man is setting the pace for others to follow in Ghana following the manufacture of luxury cars that run on electricity.


The Kantanka SUVs are manufactured in Ghana

Y. S. Marfo from the University of Ghana Business School has taken time to write about the innovative electric car being manufactured in Ghana which is the brainchild of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo.

Marfo writes that the cradle of Africa’s technology, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, has developed a new and an advanced electric car called Kantanka Odeneho II.

Developed at the Apostle Safo Suaye Technological Centre at Gomoa Mpota, a town in the Central Region of Ghana, the car signals a brighter day for Ghana’s energy and environmental problems.

The new electric car saves energy and releases “zero” greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This is because the car has no internal combustion engine, a big step forward to reduce global warming and other respiratory diseases. The car gets its energy from series of accumulators connected together.

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, (worldwide) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has said that he was richer than the church as a university lecturer back then.

The soft-spoken preacher, who took over the ministry following the demise of its founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, said the church’s total income then was about half of his salary as university lecturer.

Ministering during a three-day special programme to end the church’s 40-day fasting and prayer period at the Redemption Camp, Kilometre 46, Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye said the ministry was not financially buoyant before he came on board.

Singer, Simi, recently snagged a major deal with telecoms giant, Etisalat and she has been over the moon about the new deal.

Speaking with Saturday Beat on the deal, the ‘Jamb Question’ crooner, said:
“I am very elated that such is happening to me right now. This will give me a bigger platform than I had before. The limelight is now bigger than it used to me. When you work hard and have good work ethics and you continue to improve yourself, the sky is the beginning of the limit. I am not surprised at my success, I am just grateful to God. In February, Legendury Beatz will release their debut mixtape, Afropop 101. The nine-track offering features the likes of frequent collaborators, Wizkid and Mr Eazi as well as Vanessa Mdee, Maleek Berry, Timaya and more. The mixtape title, which evokes a sense of higher learning, is derived from a need to educate the masses about their sound.

It is distinctly African and made to have a popular appeal – hence the name “afropop.” Legendury Beatz believes that in recent times, many songs – some by famous non-African artists – have been tagged “afrobeats” simply because they contain traces of dancehall. But afropop in its own right, and according to Legendury Beatz, means popular African music that fuses various genres.

As a result, Afropop 101 is a collage of different sounds that traverse hip hop, electro-house, moombathon and of course, dancehall. In future, there will be several volumes of the Afropop 101 series. The group felt that the first batch of featured artists within the Legendury Beatz circle of influence would aptly introduce the mixtape.

The process of creating the mixtape was a journey in eclecticism. In order to get the best out of the respective artists, Legendury Beatz elected to create music around the aesthetic of each artist’s soundscape. Diversity was key.

This extends to the mixtape artwork. Legendury Beatz asserts that the plan was to work with as many African artists as possible on Afropop 101. So for the album art, the duo chose to exhibit the red, green and black Pan African colours. There’s also an old Nigerian stamp and Ghanaian coins to signify where Legendury Beatz’s afrobeats roots lie.
