Christianity EtcWhy You Should Never Be Late To Church by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 9:34am On Jan 19, 2020
LATENESS TO CHURCH

Ever since I was born, I have not seen many people arrive late to the airport when they are traveling. In fact, when the plane is taking off at 11:00pm, the person will be at the airport by 7:00pm, wow!

That's how much people value travelling overseas!!

Same when they have to go to court they will be at that Court not less than 30 minutes before the appointed time.

But on a Sunday morning when Church has long begun, that's when you see men and women with 'swag' gliding like a wounded tortoise to Church.

They know they are late,

Church starts at 08:00 am ,but people will come at 08:30am or 10: 00 am, why? They think all they need is just to be present and show their faces to their friends.

Just take the test to call them on Monday at 5:30 or 6:00 am , you'll realise they are already on their way to work and some will be there already.

Know this today, anytime you go to Church one minute late, you have NOT attended Church at all.

If Christ is saying 'where
two or three are gathered, I'm in their midst', you think He comes late? The time you give is the time He keeps.

What does it mean to arrive late to Church?

1) Disrespect to Christ

2) Betrayal of Christ

3) Disregard to the Church and the Pastor

4) Interruption of an eternal program
Christianity Etc6 Good Results Of Obeying God's Word by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 9:14am On Jan 19, 2020
There are so many good results of
obedience. I could ramble on and on
about all that God gives us when we
obey. Generally speaking, obedience
to God gives us entry into all that He
has for us. It opens the door of His
blessings to us and keeps us in His
will. By obedience we stay in tune
with God and are given all the power
of God.

By obedience we put
ourselves in the middle of His love
and there we see His glory (Jn.
14:21). We will go on now to
examine six specific results of
obedience.

1. By obedience we become God’s
friend. The Bible says in John
14:21, “He who has My
commandments and keeps them, it is
he who loves Me. And he who loves
Me will be loved by My Father, and I
will love him and manifest Myself to
him.” The word “manifest” in this
verse means to disclose or to show
oneself. It is a term of friendship.
Therefore, as we see here, obedience
to God brings to us the friendship of
the Father and the Son.

In John 15:14 Jesus says it plainly:
“You are My friends if you do
whatever I command you.” That
thought, to be a friend of God, is just
overwhelming to me. It is hard to
comprehend and describe it. It is so
wonderful, so heartwarming. And just
think, God is willing to be a friend to
anyone who will come to Him and
obey Him.

2. By obedience we get to know
God’s will. It’s really quite simple:
the more we do what God tells us to
do the more we get to know Him as a
friend. And the more we grow as His
friend the more He reveals Himself
and His will to us. Hence, we will
find that His will is good, acceptable
and perfect (Rom. 12:2).

We will also find that His will is
mysterious, awesome, breathtaking
and quite overwhelming. If you read
the book of Ephesians (esp. 1: 7-12
and 3:1-20) along with the book of
Revelations (esp. chap. 19-22) you
will see what I mean. If you make it
our aim to obey God day by day He
will show you who He is and will fill
you in on many of His wonderful
plans. Let us pray with David from
Psalms 24:4: “Show me your ways, O
Lord, teach me Your paths.”

3. By obedience we bear good fruit.
A life that is obedient to God will
always bear good fruit.

4. By obedience we find power for
continued obedience. The initial
decision you make to obey God (to
commit yourself to God and to
surrender yourself to Him) gives you
a new power over sin. It sets you
free from sin. For the Bible tells us
in Romans 6:16-18, “Do you not
know that to whom you present
yourselves slaves to obey, you are
that one’s slaves whom you obey,
whether of sin leading to death, or of
obedience leading to righteousness?
But God be thanked that though you
were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed
from the heart that form of doctrine
to which you were delivered. And
having been set free from sin, you
became slaves of righteousness.”

Therefore, when we present ourselves
to God to obey Him, He gives us a
new power over sin and a power to
continue to obey Him. In fact, as
verse 18 tells us, by our obedience
we have made ourselves a slave of
righteousness. Hence, being a slave,
we are compelled to continue to obey
God and to be holy. It becomes our
nature. It is our new heavenly desire.

5. By obedience our prayers will be
answered. One of the things that will
happen when we obey God is that
our prayers will be heard and
answered. What a marvelous thing!
But I don’t think God answers our
prayers just on the basis that we
have gone through the mechanics of
being obedient. No, it is not that
way at all. John 15:16 seems to
indicate that answered prayer is a
type of fruit, or a manifestation of His
grace that comes to us as we abide
in Him; thus, as we make our
obedience a lifestyle. For the last
phrase of the verse, “that whatsoever
you ask of the Father in my name, He
may give to you,” seems to be an
extension of the former phrase, “that
your fruit should remain”. The word
“that” between the two phrases is a
connecting word that indicates that
the last phrase is connected to the
former phrase. Thus, our ability to
pray and receive answers is a type of
fruit.

But I also think that more fruit comes
as a result of our prayers. G.
Campbell Morgan suggests that the
verse should be understood this way:
“I chose you in order to bear fruit,
and in order that you may do so I
chose you to ask, and so to get in
touch with God, that fruit may
abound.” And so, I think that
answered prayer is a type of fruit,
and prayer itself is a means of more
fruit.

R. A. Torry and E. M. Bounds have
some things to say about obedience
and prayer.

R. A. Torry said, “If we would have
power in prayer, we must be earnest
students of His Word to find out what
His will regarding us is, and then
having found it do it. One
unconfessed act of disobedience on
our part will shut the ear of God
against many petitions.”

E. M. Bounds has said, “An obedient
life helps prayer. It speeds prayer to
the throne…Our Lord Jesus Christ,
‘holy, harmless, undefiled, separate
from sinners,’ had full liberty of
approach and ready access to God in
prayer. And He had this free and full
access because of His unquestioning
obedience to His Father.”

The Bible says, “Whatsoever we ask
we receive because we keep His
commands and do those things that
are pleasing in His sight” (1 Jn.
3:22).
The last

of obedience is the
most important.

6. By our obedience the Father is
glorified in the Son. In John 15:7-8
Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and
My words abide in you, you will ask
what you desire, and it shall be done
for you. By this My Father is
glorified, that you bear much fruit; so
you will be My disciples.” Here
Jesus tells us that if we abide in Him
(which includes our obedience to
Him), we will receive answers to our
prayers. In verse 8 Jesus said, “By
this My Father is glorified…” The
word “this” means that when you
abide and obey, and when your
prayers are answered, then He will be
glorified.

Secondly if we obey God's Word we
will be blessed in many ways.

a. If we follow the Lord's commands,
we will be blessed with financial
prosperity ( Dt. 28:11 ).

b. If we follow the Lord's commands,
we will be blessed with success
( Josh. 1:8 ).

c. If we follow the Lord's commands,
we will be blessed with long life ( Dt.
4:40; 5:33; Prov. 10:27 ).

d. If we follow the Lord's commands,
we will be blessed with eternal life
( Jn. 5:24 ).

The next phrase gives us the reason
why He is glorified. It is “that,” or
because in abiding and obeying and
in having your prayers answered “you
bear much fruit.” Therefore, the
Father is glorified by our obedience;
but it isn’t in our obedience alone
that He is glorified. No, He is
glorified by our obedience because
our obedience causes us to bear
much fruit.

Christianity Etc5 Most Dangerous Consequences Of Disobeying GOD'S Word by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 9:00am On Jan 19, 2020
In our day and age, I have noticed, and please correct me if I am wrong, that some people including Christians do not take God's commands or doctrines very seriously. Some people think that when the new covenant, the covenant of grace, came into effect, God stopped caring about doctrine. Some feel that doctrine is insignificant in the new covenant, only serving and loving God's people are what's important today.

Brethren, I am a firm believer that serving and loving God's people are important. However, obeying God's commands and doctrines are very important as well. In fact, not only are we going to be judged on our service to others, but we will also be judged on how faithful we are in following the Word of God.
. ....
“As for the person who hears my .words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day" (Jn. 12:47, 48)....

We will be judged on how faithful we are in following the Words of the Lord...,,. As you can tell, I am very concerned with the laid back attitude that some people have concerning the doctrines and commandments of God. Furthermore, I am also very concerned how some people are distorting the Scriptures to justify their own desired beliefs. Some people, instead of excepting and obeying God's specific teaching on a subject, manipulate or distort God's Word to support their own human views. The Bible on many occasions warns us not to distort truth.

My friends, we need to see that it is a very serious thing to distort God's Word.

(1)According to ( Gal. 1:9 ), people who distort the Word of God will be eternally condemned.

(2) According to ( 2 Pet. 2:1-3; 3:16 ), people who distort the Word of God will bring upon themselves destruction.

(3) We must never intentionally distort the Word of God to satisfy our human and worldly beliefs. If we do, we are jeopardizing our souls.

(4) If we distort or disobey a commandment of God, we commit sin ( 1 Jn. 3:4 ). And you know, as well as I know that sin is a very serious offense.

(5) When God gives us a command, we need to do our very best to follow it. We need to start taking God's commands more seriously. In the Bible, when people disobeyed God's instructions, they were punished.

a.Just because Adam & Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which God told them not to, death came to all people ( Gen. 3 ).

b. Just because Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it like God told him too, he was not allowed to enter the Promised Land ( Num. 20:8-12 ).

c. Just because Nadab & Abihu offered an unauthorized fire while worshipping God, fire came down from the presence of the Lord and consumed them ( Lev. 10:1, 2 ).

d. Just because Ananias & Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and held back some money from a land deal, they both fell down and died ( Acts 5 ).

My dear brothers and sisters, we must start taking the commandments of God more seriously. Although we are living in new covenant of grace, we still must obey the Lord. We must revere the word's of our creator. We must obey the commands that even seem insignificant to us. I realize that none of us are perfect, and on occasions, we will make mistakes. But we must do every thing we can to faithfully obey the commands of God and not distort His Word.

Christianity Etc28 Bible Verses About Love For One Another by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 9:57am On Oct 13, 2019
One of God's greatest commandments is that we treat each other well.

There numerous Bible verses about loving one another, just as God loves each of us:
Leviticus 19:18

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
(NLT)

Hebrews 10:24
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith,
hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. (NIV)

1 Corinthians 16:14
Do everything in love. (N

1 Timothy 1:5
You must teach people to have genuine love, as well as a good conscience and true faith. (CEV)

1 Peter 2:17
Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king. (NLT)

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. (NLT)

1 Peter 4:8
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.(NLT)

Ephesians 4:32
Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ. (REV)

Matthew 19:19
Respect your father and mother. And love others as much as you love yourself. (CEV)

1 Thessalonians 3:12
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you.
(NKJV)

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. (NKJV)

1 John 2:9-11
Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them. (NIV)

1 John 3:11
For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. (NIV)

1 John 3:14
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. (NIV)

1 John 3:16-19
This is how we know what love is:
Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence.
(NIV)

1 John 4:11
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (NIV)

1 John 4:21
And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (NIV)
John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. (ESV)

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (ESV)

John 15:17
These things I command you, so that you will love one another. (ESV).

Romans 13:8-10
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. For the commandments say, “You must not
commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

Philippians 2:2
Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. (NKJV)

Galatians 5:13-14

Christianity Etc31 Salient Facts About The Rapture That Will Shock The World by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 9:48am On Oct 13, 2019
1. It is going to be the next greatest event that will shock all the continents of the world.

2. It is going to take place suddenly, abruptly, unexpectedly, without warning and without prior notice.

3. There shall be no second version of the event.

4. A greater percentage of Christians may be taken unawares.

5. Careless Christians who miss the event will have no other similar gracious opportunity.

6. The event shall have no regard or respect for ecclesiastical titles or church leadership positions.

7. It shall be a day when the sheep shall be separated from the goats.

8. The day shall differentiate between the Broad Way Christians from the Narrow Way Christians.

9. The day shall separate sincerity from hypocrisy.

10. The day shall differentiate between those who harbour secret sins from those who abhor secret sins.

11. The day shall separate those whose lives are hidden in Christ from those who are hiding in the church.

12. The day shall show a glaring, clear, conspicuous, demarcation between Christians who walk on the path of holiness from those who walk on the path of worldliness.

13. It shall be a day of double emotion: joy for some and unimaginable, indescribable, uncontrollable regrets for others.

14. It shall be a day of surprises- some “Big names” may miss the flight while some “Less known” may be on board.

15. Another surprise may be that a man or woman who had faithfully served the Lord for many years may defile his or her garment a few minutes
before the sound of that summoning trumpet and miss the flight while a notorious sinner may surrender his or her life to Jesus within the same time frame and go with the saints.

16. This event may happen now, today, this week, this month, this year or next year!

17. Wise Christians, like the five virgins that took extra oil, are expected to get ready, yes, to get prepared.

18. After the event, all those who are bitter against one another, malicious, unforgiving, jealous, arrogant, haters, hypocrites, drunkards, fornicators, adulterers, adulteresses, murderers with weapons and murderers with tongue etc, shall have enough time to continue in their trade.

19. When the event is over there shall be revival among those who have chosen to stay behind not because there will be a second chance, no, but because the reality of the event would have struck them like a thunderbolt. But they will have to pay with their own blood.

20. When the event is over, those who are left behind shall no longer be safe to worship in their gigantic, fanciful and multi-billion naira cathedrals. Instead they shall seek safety in caves, bushes and abandoned and dilapidated but hidden structures.

21. When this great event is over, each time those who will miss their flight manage to gather for worship, they will pay attention to only one sermon- whether they gather in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North or South America; the sermon will only centre on “How to Meet the Divine Standard and Join the Other Saints”.

22. It is also worthy of note that those who will be left behind will never have any business with comedians at their altars anymore. No! There shall no longer be gatherings for entertainments. Whenever, they manage to gather, it shall always be for serious religious business only.

23. The prayer pattern of those who will be left behind will also undergo a radical change. They will not be praying for things anymore. They will only be praying for strength to withstand the tortures of the Anti-Christ and die bravely to jointhe other saints. None will be praying for jobs, marriages, etc.

24. It is equally worthy of note that some of those who will miss their flight will not be able to endure the torture of the Anti Christ. They will receive the mark of the beast and thereby be doomed forever.

25. When the ready saints are gone, all our denominational walls of partition will collapse. The man or woman who use to worship in Deeper Life, for instance, will hide in the same place with those who worship in Christ Embassy, Church of God Mission, Assemblies of God, etc and nobody will remember to claim superiority anymore because then they will be facing a common enemy.

26. When this event is over, each time believers who will miss their flight manage to gather anywhere for worship, there will be an atmosphere of sobriety. This rowdiness we witness today shall be no more.

27. There shall also be a radical change in the attitude of those who will miss their flight towards Bible study. What we have now is an attitude characterized by a high degree of nonchalance and indifference, but when the ready saints are gone, those who will be left behind will begin to take their bible study seriously.

28. All the teens and youths who come to church to please their parents will repent after this great event; yes, they will begin to seek God for themselves.

29. When the event is over, all those who will do any form of business in the schools, hospitals, banks, etc, will have to bear the mark of beast (666) or be hunted down and killed like common criminals.

30. One of the gains of this reminder is that there may be someone reading this piece today who will take a firm decision to ensure that he/she gets on board that celestial flight travelling to glory.

31. However, one of the greatest tragedies of this reminder is that there may be someone too who is reading this piece today but who will see no need to heed this warning. A tragedy indeed!

Christianity EtcFacts About Hell In The Bible by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 8:25am On Oct 06, 2019
Hell in the Bible is a place of future
punishment and the final destination for unbelievers. It is described in Scripture using various terms such as eternal fire, outer darkness, a place of weeping and torment, the lake of fire, the second death, unquenchable fire. The terrifying reality of hell is that it will be a place of complete, unending separation from God.

BIBLICAL TERMS FOR HELL

The Hebrew word Sheol occurs 65 times in the Old Testament.
It is translated "hell," "the grave," "death," "destruction," and "the pit." Sheol identifies the general abode of the dead, a place where life no longer exists.

An Example of Sheol:

Psalm 49:13–14
This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah. Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. (ESV)

Hades is the Greek term translated "hell" in the New Testament. Hades is similar to Sheol. It is described as a prison with gates, bars, and locks, and its location is downward.

An Example of Hades:

Acts 2:27–31
'For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.' "Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption." (ESV)

The Greek word Gehenna is translated "hell" or "the fires of hell," and expresses the place of punishment for sinners. It is usually associated with the final judgment and depicted as being an eternal, unquenchable fire.

Examples of Gehenna:
Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (NKJV)
Matthew 25:41
"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels ...' " (NKJV)
Another Greek term used to indicate hell or the "lower regions" is Tartarus . Like Gehenna, Tartarus also designates the place of eternal punishment.

An Example of Tartarus:
2 Peter 2:4
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment ... (ESV)
With so many references to Hell in the Bible, any serious Christian must come to terms with the doctrine. The passages are grouped in sections below to help us understand what the Bible has to say about hell.

PUNISHMENT IN HELL IS ETERNAL
Isaiah 66:24
"And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind." (NIV)
Daniel 12:2
Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace. (NLT)
Matthew 25:46
"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to
eternal life ." (NIV)
Mark 9:43
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It's better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands. (NLT)

Christianity Etc4 Things Every Christian Should Know About The Rapture (Photo) by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 7:58am On Oct 06, 2019
The study of the End Times and the rapture can cause questions, apprehension, and fear. "Why do I need to study prophecy?" "It is too complicated, and I don't understand what it means." "It makes me anxious and nervous.

" I will not argue with the fact that studying prophecy can be complex and overwhelming. It is difficult to see how these obscure passages can have any significance for us today. They appear to lack relevance to what we are going through right now. If we continue with this mindset, we will miss the rich truth God has provided for us. We cannot understand where we are now if we don’t understand where we are going.

To help you begin developing an understanding and appreciation for this difficult topic,

I have compiled biblical answers to four of the most frequently asked questions about the Rapture.

1. What signs indicate that the End Times are near?

The Rapture—the raising of the Church into heaven ( 1 Thessalonians 4:17 )—is the next event on the prophetic calendar. The following signs indicate that the End Times are near.

The Sign of Deception

Many people will claim to be the Messiah and claim to have the answers for a troubled world. Jesus says to “take heed”—literally to keep our eyes open so we are not fooled. In the End Times, people will be crying desperately for leaders to deliver them, and they will seek mystics and religious leaders who claim to have deeper knowledge.

The Sign of Disputes Among Nations

As wars and dissension among groups of people begin to escalate, we know it is a sign of Christ’s return. The book of Revelation tells us that the Tribulation Period is filled with war—ceaseless, unending, terrible war—that will escalate until the world is involved. The Bible says that as we move toward the End Times, there will be constant talk of conflicts, border skirmishes, race wars, and national battles.

The Sign of Devastation

Today, as you read this, millions of people in the world are going hungry, even though God has blessed us with a fruitful, abundant planet. As we get closer to the End Times, there will be more and more famine. There will also be earthquakes, something that science has said will happen. Christ also spoke of pestilence: the spread of new diseases. Our world is experiencing a spate of tragic new diseases that we are unable to control.

The Sign of Deliverance Into the Tribulation

Just before Jesus returns, there will be an explosion of antagonism toward God’s people. Christians will be persecuted. We are seeing this happen today with the rise of ISIS and their horrific attacks on Christians in the Middle East. As we grow closer to the end, many will pay a high price for living out their faith in our world.

2. Why should I avoid determining a date and time for the Rapture?

The fact is, we cannot calculate the day Christ will return for His Church because God specifically chose not to reveal it to us.

When the apostles asked Jesus about the apocalyptic time, He replied gently but firmly, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:7-8 ).

Only God knows what time it is, and only God knows when time will run out.

Future truth impacts present responsibility. It is the knowledge that His coming is soon that puts a little bit of urgency into our step and determination into our service.

3. Will I be a part of the Rapture if my body is cremated?

When the Scripture says, "The dead in Christ will rise," it is speaking of the bodily resurrection of believers. At this time, the spirits of believers will be united with their perfect and complete resurrection bodies. "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first [no exceptions!]. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 ).

If God can do the hard part of calling creation into existence through His spoken words, then it will be no problem for Him to call back the bodies of those who have been swept into the sea, or consumed by fire, or tragically maimed and murdered by vicious and murderous attacks of an enemy.

4. What will happen in Heaven after the Rapture?

After the Rapture, Christians will come before the Judgment Seat of Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:10 ). The Judgment Seat is not about whether we will enter heaven—we’ll already be there because our sins have been atoned for in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It will, however, be a time to give an account of the works we have done on earth, and we will be rewarded accordingly. We’ll be assigned places of authority in the coming Millennium based upon our faithfulness to God when we were on earth, as well as the influence we left behind.

There is so much relevant truth to be discovered in the Bible's prophetic passages! I encourage you to continue to study God's plan for the future. What you believe about many of these issues can determine what side you are on when God decides to draw the final curtain on the drama of history. I am confident you will find, as I have, that studying and understanding rapture and the events of tomorrow will change your view of today!

Christianity EtcThings You Should Know As An Instrumentalist (Photo) by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 7:45am On Oct 06, 2019
As an Instrumentalist , there are some basic Things you should know

Noise-Always have it in mind that the moment you start with the policy that you must hear yourself during a ministration/performance/presentation with your group or band, noise starts from there. I'm not saying you shouldn't be audible with your instrument, its not in all cases that the musical gadgets will produce what you want, moreover they have their limits and get spoilt even at work.

Submission - No matter what the case may be, even if the lead vocalist isn't as bold or good as expected, submit to him/her, respect the little talent, encourage that person, and never say you are too good to play for an artist.

Respect - To everybody you come across in life, they have their different ways of perfectly displaying their musical talents, that they are not good on a particular pattern/style doesn't mean they are worst in other aspects, and if it's about just learning, life is a university if learning where even the bosses learn from the upcoming ones, and where the learners overtake the bosses, I've overtaken my bosses and my students are overtaking me, that is life for you.

Notice me - When you start to play to impress people or this eyes service of a thing, then you will surely become proud and from there, you are gradually coming down, there is no talent you've got that God hasn't given to someone, even more of it, so play naturedly and stat humble.

Engineers - Always see your engineer(s) as your friends and never make them your friend for volume sake, if you ask for volume, as friends, he will surely increase it for you, but looking at it technically, is it necessary? So be professional.

Rehearsal - Never depend on inspiration alone, do personal rehearsals, do it with your mates, bosses, and upcoming ones, update yourself, being the best instrumentalist in your church/band/organisation doesn't make you the best in the environment.

Creativity - Life itself is an environment where your different concept brings you out, not by copying from people alone, but by adding yours, playing it differently

Churches - Go for church rehearsals, don't underestimate your choir members, you are one in Christ, you may be more advanced, but don't say their level is too low to yours, if it is, then your level becomes too low for God. If you are given money, collect it, but try not to go to churches with the intention of playing to get paid, it doesn't bring prosperity in life, God gave you the talent, let him work it out for you.

I've asked something like this, buh i am not yet satisfy with the reply I got,

in my church at home if praise and worship is given 20mins altogether, our choir master will even tell us that worship song should not take more than 5mins and the rest should be praises,

but when i got to school and attended some other churches , i noticed that worship always takes more time than praises, most times

Which one used to take more time in your church and which one do you think should take more time?

Christianity EtcSpeaking In Tongues: 5 Things You Should Know by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 8:29am On Sep 22, 2019
Without a doubt, speaking in tongues is the most controversial spiritual gift mentioned in the New Testament. Is it from God or the devil? Should believers ignore it, oppose it, or embrace it? There are many legitimate questions regarding the gift of tongues that deserve a thoughtful, biblical response. Let's tackle five of them.

1. Is speaking in tongues from God or the devil?
The most important thing you need to know about speaking in tongues is what Jesus said about it, and He did not mince His words in Mark 16:17: "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues." Jesus declared that tongues is a supernatural sign that can and should accompany everyone who believes in Him. God does not give His children any bad gifts, so we shouldn't fear or ridicule the gift of tongues.

2. Are people making it up when they speak in tongues?

The gift of tongues is a known or heavenly language unknown to the speaker that enables him or her to communicate directly with God. Paul said in 1 Cor. 13:1, "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels..." When you receive the gift of tongues, in a split second the Holy Spirit downloads a language into your spirit without you ever having to learn it.

In 2006, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania took brain images of five people while they spoke in tongues. Their research was published in The New York Times . The leader of the study team was Dr. Andrew Newberg, who arrived at this conclusion:

"We noticed a number of changes that occurred functionally in the brain. Our finding of decreased activity in the frontal lobes during the practice of speaking in tongues is fascinating because these subjects truly believe that the spirit of God is moving through them and controlling them to speak. ...Our brain-imaging research shows us that these subjects are not in control of the usual language centers during this activity, which is consistent with their description of a lack of intentional control while speaking in tongues."

When they prayed in tongues, their frontal lobes, the willful part of the brain we use to think and control what we do, were quiet. The language center of their brains—the part we use to speak in our native language—were quiet as well. The people were not in a trance; they were fully aware of what was happening. The researchers were unable to pinpoint which part of the brain was controlling this behavior of speaking in tongues. Dr. Newberg went on to say, "The amazing thing was how the images supported people's interpretation of what was happening. ... The way they describe it, and what they believe, is that God is talking through them."

Speaking in tongues is clearly not a fabricated language, as these scientists have confirmed. It is a spiritual language given to us by God to communicate with Him.

3. Is speaking in tongues a fringe gift that only a few people receive?

The gift of tongues was the most common spiritual gift in the New Testament church. The Bible tells us in Acts 2:4 that all of the original 120 disciples at Pentecost spoke in tongues in the Upper Room: "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." We don't know if they all received the gift of faith or healing or discernment, but we know for a fact that all of them received the gift of tongues.

Today, there are more than 600 million charismatic-Pentecostal believers worldwide, the second-largest group of Christians after Catholics. Pentecostals and charismatic churches are by no means a small, fringe movement; on the contrary, they form the fastest-growing religious movement in the world. The gift of tongues is not reserved for a select few. Paul made it clear in 1 Cor. 14:5 that he wanted every believer to pray in tongues (for personal edification) and prophesy (to edify the church): "I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy."

4. Did the gift of tongues cease after the first century, or is it still active today?
The doctrine of cessationism is firmly entrenched in Reformed Christianity. This is the belief that the apostolic and charismatic gifts (including speaking in tongues) ceased after the original 12 apostles passed away. However, several notable early church fathers

—such as Justin Martyr (100-165), Irenaeus (115-202), Tertullian (160-220), and Origen (185-254)—recorded that the spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, were still active in the church in their days, long after John had passed away around 100 AD.

Peter proclaimed in Acts 2:39 that the gift of tongues is for everyone who is called by God: "The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." Paul wrote in 1 Cor. 13:8-9 that when that which is perfect comes, tongues will cease. That is a reference to the Second Coming of Christ. The Bible teaches that no one is perfect except Jesus. When Christ returns, we will not need to speak in tongues to communicate with God because we will be with Him. But until then, the gift of tongues is available to any believer who desires it.

5. What are people saying when they pray in tongues?

The Bible reveals five main things that happen when believers pray in tongues:

1. They are speaking directly to God. 1 Corinthians 14:2, "For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit." Tongues is an intimate and direct line of communication with God.

2. They are declaring God's wonders. Acts 2:11, "We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" Far from being nonsense, when we pray in tongues we are actually declaring the wonders and mysteries and majesty of God. How could that possibly be a bad thing?

3. They are praising God. Acts 10:46, "For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God." Even if we don't understand what we are saying when we speak in tongues, we are praising God in the Spirit (1 Cor. 14:16).

4. They are edifying themselves. 1 Cor. 14:4, "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church." Praying in tongues is like a spiritual workout—it builds you up and makes you stronger spiritually.

5. The Holy Spirit is praying through them, declaring God's will. Romans 8:26-27, "We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express...because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." Praying in the Spirit will bring revelation and insight into God's will for your life.

If you do not believe in the gift of tongues or have had a bad experience with the charismatic movement, I encourage you to the study the Scriptures with an open mind. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth about tongues to you.

If you desire the gift of tongues, pray for it in faith until you receive it. Jesus said in Luke 11:13, "How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Sometimes we have to ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, and knock and keep on knocking until we receive our answer to prayer.

If you already have the gift of tongues, use it every day. In 1 Cor. 14:18, Paul boasted about how often he prayed in tongues: "I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you." Tongues is a real language, and as with any language, you have to use it in order to increase your fluency and vocabulary.

Are there excesses and abuse with the use of the gift of tongues? Yes, of course, and they need to be corrected, but don't throw out the baby with the bath water by rejecting the gift of tongues altogether. Let us take the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Cor. 14:39 to heart: "Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues " (emphasis added.)

Christianity Etc8 Reasons Why Obedience To God Is Very Very Important by ADEWUMIMichael(op): 8:20am On Sep 22, 2019
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has a lot to say about obedience. In the story of the Ten Commandments, we see just how important the concept of obedience is to God.

Deuteronomy 11:26–28 sums it up like this: "Obey and you will be blessed. Disobey and you will be cursed."

In the New Testament, we learn through the example of Jesus Christ that believers are called to a life of obedience.

OBEDIENCE DEFINITION IN THE BIBLE
The general concept of obedience both in the Old and New Testament relates to hearing or hearkening to a higher authority.

One of the Greek terms for obedience conveys the idea of positioning oneself under someone by submitting to their authority and command. Another Greek word for obey in the New Testament means "to trust."

According to Holman's Illustrated Bible Dictionary a succinct definition of biblical obedience is "to hear God's Word and act accordingly."

Eerdman's Bible Dictionary says, "True 'hearing,' or obedience, involves the physical hearing that inspires the hearer, and a belief or trust that in turn motivates the hearer to act in accordance with the speaker's desires."

So, biblical obedience to God means, simply, to hear, trust, submit and
surrender to God and his Word.

8 REASONS WHY OBEDIENCE TO GOD IS IMPORTANT

1. JESUS CALLS US TO OBEDIENCE

In Jesus Christ we find the perfect model of obedience. As his disciples, we follow Christ's example as well as his commands. Our motivation for obedience is love:

John 14:15
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (ESV)

2. OBEDIENCE IS AN ACT OF WORSHIP

While the Bible places strong emphasis on obedience, it's important to remember that believers are not
justified (made righteous) by our obedience. Salvation is a free gift of God, and we can do nothing to merit it.

True Christian obedience flows from a heart of gratitude for the grace we have received from the Lord:
Romans 12:1
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. (NLT)

3. GOD REWARDS OBEDIENCE

Over and over again we read in the Bible that God blesses and rewards obedience:
Genesis 22:18
"And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me." (NLT)
Exodus 19:5
Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. (NLT)
Luke 11:28
Jesus replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice." (NLT)
James 1:22–25

But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
(NLT)

4. OBEDIENCE TO GOD PROVES OUR LOVE

1 John 5:2–3
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. (ESV)
2 John 6
And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. (ESV)

5. OBEDIENCE TO GOD DEMONSTRATES OUR FAITH
1 John 2:3–6
And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, "I know God," but doesn't obey
God's commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God's word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

Thoughtful Faith for Your Life

(NLT)

6.OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE
1 Samuel 15:22–23
But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king." (NLT)

7. DISOBEDIENCE LEADS TO SIN AND DEATH
The disobedience of Adam brought sin and death into the world. But Christ's perfect obedience restores our fellowship with God, for everyone who believes in him.
Romans 5:19
For as by the one man's [Adam's] disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's [Christ's] obedience the many will be made righteous. (ESV)
1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. (ESV)

8. THROUGH OBEDIENCE, WE EXPERIENCE THE BLESSINGS OF HOLY LIVING
Only Jesus Christ is perfect, therefore, only he could walk in sinless obedience. But as we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us from within, we grow in holiness.

Psalm 119:1–8
Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths.

You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully. Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey your decrees. Please don't give up on me! (NLT)

Isaiah 48:17–19
This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow. Oh, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sands along the seashore—too many to count! There would have been no need for your destruction, or for cutting off your family name." (NLT)

2 Corinthians 7:1
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. (NLT)
The verse above says, "Let us work toward complete holiness." So, we don't learn obedience overnight; it's a lifelong process that we pursue by making it a daily goal.
