Politics / Why Rev. Kukah Goofed. This Is No About Religion! by adgorwell: 6:47am On Sep 29, 2015
Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah needs no introduction. His credentials has a social critic is quite glittering, though he cannot fall into the class of giants like Desmond Tutu. His role as a member of the National Peace Committee during the tensed moments of the March 28 election is also not to be swept away with the wave of the hand. The question I asked myself only recently when I heard of Bishop Kukah’s recent widely-reported interview is: “What went wrong?” Continue reading on... http://olalekanadigun.com/why-bishop-kukah-goofed/
Politics / PDP Is Underestimating The APC Strategy by adgorwell: 9:23pm On Sep 28, 2015
Propaganda is not itself bad if it is serves the exact purpose for which it was used. The Nazis were taught this bitter lesson during the World War II with the British superior propaganda machinery. So if the PDP lost due to propaganda, then the APC must have had more effective
propaganda machine!

Politics / President Buhari's Critics Must Hear This! by adgorwell: 6:11pm On Sep 28, 2015
The most brilliant of the criticisms Buhari's critics have manufactured is the “Baba Go Slow”. Laughable as it is, one dare not reply these critics who are overshadowed by ethnic emotions. One have carefully avoided taking part in these discussions because once you air your views you are most likely either going to get insults or get intellectually-insulting answers. While not making excuses for sluggishness, I think these critics must get their facts right.

Politics / Buhari Ban Set To Ban The Media! by adgorwell: 5:59pm On Sep 28, 2015
The media has come under scrutiny once more in Buhari's characteristic manner. The most recent is the recent ban on some private media stations, from covering his activities only show that the President's attitude towards the media has not changed. Ever since this was made public, our experts have begun looking at the issues.

Foreign Affairs / Solutions To The Burkina Faso Crises by adgorwell: 9:04pm On Sep 23, 2015
For over a year now, Burkina Faso has been in the news, often for the wrong reasons. If we can commend the people’s powerful political
demonstration that led to the fall of the President Blaise Compaore’s 27-year rule as “patriotic”, what then can we call the numerous soccer riots, taking the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a case study?

Politics / Nigeria Needs Joseph Stalin As Leader! By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:52pm On Sep 23, 2015
Irrespective of what the West wants us to believe about Stalin: he was responsible for the deaths of untold number of Soviet’s citizens through starvation and ‘concentration’ camps; murderer of many if not all his opponents and supporters (including the respected Leon Trosky one of the leaders of October 1917 revolution); reigned terror on many through the notorious and dreaded KGB (the Secret Police), we need him to bring discipline back into our lexicon as a nation. For those who do not know, Stalin it was that mechanized Soviet’s agriculture; turned around its education that rural farmers were all sent to school; laid the foundation of Soviet’s industrialization, and development of nuclear power which compelled Americans to treat Russians as equals in international politics; responsible for Soviet’s victory over Adolf Hitler’s Nazi army. All these came with great costs. Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great and other great reformers have been dwarfed by the giant form of the Man of Steel(Stalin)(Deutscher 1961: 294 ). If we remove Stalin’s contribution to Russia’s history what is left? There is always a price to pay for making progress!

Politics / What Saraki Must Do Ordinarily! By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:42pm On Sep 23, 2015
Ever since the transfer of power from the military dictatorship to democratically-elected government in 1999, the National Assembly is in no short of intrigues and power plays. The National Assembly journey ever since has been a shameful history of the leaders produced by our society to direct the affairs of us all.

Politics / Fayose's Stomach Infrastructure In Action In Ekiti by adgorwell: 5:31pm On Sep 23, 2015
Nigerians by now must be getting used to the latest addition to their glossary of political terms-“Stomach Infrastructure”. If Chinua Achebe’s A Man of the People which was written in the 1960s and is still relevant today, it only proves that it will take a longer time to win the war against piracy in Nigeria with the repackaging of the “fat-dripping, gummy, eat-and-let-eat” scheme under a new name. The most recent version, under its proper name, was made popular or reignited by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate (now Governor) Ayodele Fayose during the Ekiti Gubernatorial campaign in June, 2014.

Politics / Can We Create More States In Nigeria? by adgorwell: 6:51pm On Sep 22, 2015
It will be difficult for Nigeria to create states under a democratic regime considering the rigorous, horse-trading, and technical process involved in state creation in the 1999 Constitution.

Politics / If Femi Fani-kayode Tells You "Yes", Just Start Looking For "No" by adgorwell: 6:18pm On Sep 22, 2015
FFK is the baby that will not grow. Babies cry for everything especially for food. You can easily know when baby FFK wants to eat. He cries the loudest when he is hungry. He dances at his best when his belly is full. He does not know how to call it quit when it comes to eating. This was why former President Obasanjo beautifully describes him as a dog that will bark at his boss’ enemies (real or imagined) and shake his tail or sing your praises when he is given food. It hurts, but very true!

Politics / Can Igbos Ever Support Buhari's Government? by adgorwell: 5:41pm On Sep 22, 2015
From a little observation, it appears some Igbos are yet to jettison their Civil War experiences when others have moved on. It is no longer a secret that Igbos made their choice clear during the presidential election and that was not General Muhammadu Buhari , but whether they stand with that choice through thick and thin is yet to be seen. One of the questions that came up during the campaigns was General Buhari’s role during the Nigerian Civil War.

Politics / Is Saraki's Trial Legal? By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:26pm On Sep 22, 2015
Before I proceed, let me make some germane clarifications. First, I am not a lawyer; therefore I must be quick to admit my limited knowledge of the technicalities in Law. Unlike Jiti, I will look at the issues purely from political standpoint(s). Secondly, I am not, and will never be in support of thuggery, hooliganism and utter recklessness as witnessed during the June 9 National Assembly leadership election. On these two points I guess I am still on the same page with Jiti. The other issues is with the issues of the legality of

Politics / Another Look At Burkina Faso Military Coup, By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:09pm On Sep 22, 2015
It is on this basis that every African patriot must come together to condemn the indiscipline in the Burkina military unequivocally. The reported military misadventure in this dangerous period in the country’s history is only worsened and put the poor West African nation years, if not decades, backwards in terms of political development. We thought Military coups ended with the 20th century. This barbaric display in Burkina Faso can do African image any good, save to portray Africans as undisciplined, uncivilised and a stone-aged people.

Politics / What Senator Bukola Saraki Should Do At A Time Like This! by adgorwell: 6:31pm On Sep 21, 2015
I have made it clear in my previous articles on this matter that I am not, and will never be, in support of hooliganism, thuggery or corrupting, that appears to characterize that inauguration which produced Senators Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu. Though my views appeared to “support” the duo or the process that produced them, it is not the case that I have interest(s) any of the principal actors as some people might think.

Politics / Awolowo, Religion And The Perils Of Ignorance, By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:57pm On Sep 21, 2015
Since Chief Obafemi Awolowo (Awo, as fondly called by his admirers) passed on about 27 years ago, much has been said about him. I have ordinarily heard some of the late sage’s die-hard opponents say he was not a Christian or, in some cases, that he was anti-Christ. Let’s stay within the confines of Ola-Diamond’s unfortunate statement. Before I go on, I wish to state that I am only going to say those things about the Chief that are public knowledge and not engage in eulogising a saint!

Politics / Must We Wait So Long For Buhari's Cabinet? by adgorwell: 5:33pm On Sep 21, 2015
In choosing ministers who are, more often than not, party members, the President must identify potential conflict that his appointments may cause so that that party’s unity is preserved ahead of the next general elections. In doing this, the President should look out for persons with a history of party loyalty. In Nigerian politics, people with long years of party loyalty are rare. Since the President is the leader of the party, he must defend the party ideology and manifestoes, by appointing party men and women into his cabinet for the formulation of policies, guidance and implementations.

Politics / The Long Wait For Buhari’s Cabinet, By Olalekan Waheed Adigun by adgorwell: 5:21pm On Sep 21, 2015
Considering that Buhari was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, he is duty-bound to protect the interest of the party that got him to power at all times. This is because he has become the leader of the party. He must deal with crises that may arise from within the party. His choice must also take into consideration the fact that there will be elections in the next four years.

Politics / On Religion And Politics, By Kolade Gbolagade Freedom by adgorwell: 4:54pm On Sep 21, 2015
The need to have religion in politics is a moral one with historical evidence of truth that God directs the affairs of men through his subjects: kings, presidents, governors, corporations and the likes. Every man who becomes a leader at any moment history demands or the people demands has a religious background or beliefs of his or her own which will reflect in his authority or leadership policies and directions as a shepherd of the people. There is no politics without the politicians and every politician can be said to have some sorts of religious background.
