morpheus24:How was I being touchy? I was suggesting that maybe that's the reason blacks in Brazil identify as black. And for your information, I never said people who are mixed in 2011 AD are results of slavery. Don't put words in my mouth. You sit behind your computer trying to act like a big shot when you're not. My universe? I'm not God, so I don't make decisions on who identifies as what. I've read your comments and I saw no evidence other than a personal belief of what Halle Berry would be perceived as in an African country. Again, who the f--k cares? She calls herself black, so that's her choice, and there are plenty of mixed people that identify as multiracial like Tiger Woods. Did you know there were people who identified as multiracial in the 2010 U.S. census? I know because I was a Census enumerator. How was I being angry? There are Africans who literally don't care about black Americans and think negatively of black Americans. Some are on this website. Do I care? No. I don't care what anybody thinks of me. It's not anger, it's pointing out bull$hit. If I cared, I'd be like k.o.n.y. And what's absolute truth to you, smart a$$? You're not a black American. Being curious is one thing, but making assumptions and conclusions about something you're not part of is kind of nonsensical. I'm not a Nigerian, but I do know some things about Nigeria. At the same time, I'm not gonna make assumptions or conclusions about Nigeria and Nigerian people when I'm not part of that society. By the way, you should learn how to use quotation marks properly. |
morpheus24:To answer your first comment, maybe it's because they made that choice themselves and don't want to identify with people that owned and had their way with their African ancestors. For your second comment, you say Halle Berry would not be considered in black in other countries. How do you know? And who cares? There may be outside factors, but at the end of the day, people have minds of their own and have the ability to choose. There are some that identify as multiracial like Tiger Woods. He calls himself "Caublasian." Do I care? No. It's his choice. And black may mean different things in different countries, but I don't care. As a black American, my history runs through the antebellum south, the black experience in the USA. It's the only history that relates to me. You still haven't answered my question. Why do you care about what someone calls himself or herself? It has no affect on you. I thought Africans didn't give a damn about black Americans, especially with the stereotypical and wrong idea of us being lazy and not wanting to work and such some have. You should worry about the problems plaguing your country and continent instead of what someone calls himself or herself. |
With the way Africa is looking right now, I'd say Africa is toast. |
morpheus24:Well, according to the article from The Guardian, more and more black people in Brazil are expressing pride in being of African descent. Are you saying they're wrong? From your bottom comment, you obviously know little about AA history. Those two people consider themselves to be AA. Ask the second guy what his ethnic background is and he'll tell you he's black. If you're trying to insinuate somebody forced them into it, you're wrong and it shows how little you Africans know about AA history and culture. Unlike others, most, if not all, BAs don't really go into blood quantums. We know we have "other" in our DNA, but we still say we're black. I guess that's the difference between us and other black folks. |
And your point is? Yes, white men (not all were ethnically Portuguese) had their way with black African women in Brazil, same thing in the United States. Ever heard of Louisiana Creoles? They have African, French, and Amerindian heritage. I see no difference in that. As for those guys, one can also say American actresses LisaRaye McCoy and Whoopi Goldberg are different people. And what if they are considered the same people? Does that bother you? If so, why? And another thing, if blacks in Brazil want to express pride in being black, why do you care? It's their business, not yours or mine. There are white people who scream "white pride world wide." It doesn't offend me. |
What morpheus24 says makes no sense. Of course African descendants in the west have some white and Amerindian in them. But that doesn't and shouldn't stop them from expressing love in their blackness. African-Americans still use the term black and AA. I see nothing wrong Afro-Brazilians doing the same. |
First of all, it's the Internet. There adult/sex websites in all languages and from all countries. African countries are not an exception. Second, Ricky Ross, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_culture. Don't throw stones in a glass house. |
Who cares? I know people from African countries who use the term black. I see nothing wrong with that. |
Let's face it, Barack Obama is George W. Bush with a tan. Anyone who bought into his hope and change crap are now realizing they were tricked. And no, I'm not a teabagger, I'm a person who believes in justice and righteousness and is fed up with the bulls**t we the people have to put up with, which is why I fully support the Occupy movements all across the USA and all around the world. Republican or Democrat, male or female, black or white, American politicians - well, politicians the world over - don't give a damn about we the people. They only care about getting money from corporations or war profiteering or stealing other peoples natural resources. Republicans and Democrats are really two sides of the same coin. It seems like if a person gets into office and actually tries to change the way things are, they'll get killed. Does John F. Kennedy ring a bell? I understand there are white people who don't like Obama because he's a black man sitting in the oval office. F**k them. But I'm tired of some black folks saying he shouldn't be criticized because he's the first black U.S. president. That's killing our political voice. He's not God. I have criticized Obama on a number of issues and if continues this bulls**t, I'll keep criticizing him. This man has continued and tripled down on U.S. foreign policy. He exacerbated the war in Afghanistan, he exacerbated the drone bombings, he participated in the bank and Wall Street bailouts. I know he inherited these problems from George Bush, Jr., a slow redneck, who is the worst president in U.S. history. However, Obama is actually making it worse, both inside and outside the United States. I'm starting to feel the only way these people will get the messgae is if everybody on this planet rises up. This has gone way too far. And why the hell does the U.S. have a two-party system? Republicans and Democrats are equally corrupt. The Democrats are just the lesser of the two evils. If the USA is a truly democratic nation, we should a slew of parties. Unfortunately, the American people are too ignorant to know that and too ignorant to pay attention to individuals who know what needs to be done and are not slaves to corporations and defense contractors all because of superficial biases such as race and class. Yes, such people do exist and actually do care about their fellow man. All things come to an end. I don't how the current system will end, but it will end and I hope the end of the current system of things comes quickly. That is all. |
MegaMan87:Another silly, hateful a$$hole. Laziness is not a "one group" thing. Everybdy is lazy. Everybody. You talk about hoodlums? What about the hoodlums that run rampant in Nigeria? Why don't you clean up your yard before you tell someone else to do the same? Drugs? I can pull up numerous news stories about drugs in Africa, let alone Nigeria. Refuse to go to school? I went to school and I graduated from all the schools I went to along with every other black person I know. Welfare? What "welfare checks"? Bill Clinton and the GOP Congress passed "Welfare Reform" or "Welfare-to-Work" programs and WELFARE ROLLS ARE AT HISTORIC LOWS!!! There is very little welfare dependency in 21st Century America no matter what you and other ignorant a$$holes say. And by the way, those who are on that are mostly white. I know some of you Africans like to think white people are great and can do no wrong, but it's the truth. My family have never gotten any freebies nor any black person I know, so you can stick it. You think only black men, all black men, in the U.S. don't take care of children? Man, you are really full of it. Newsflash: men of all colors can deadbeat dads. My father raised me, took care of me, the whole nine yards. Probably the biggest deadbeat in the U.S. is a Congressman named Joe Walsh. http://www.suntimes.com/6720892-417/tea-party-rep.-joe-walsh-sued-for-100000-in-child-support You are silly and clearly know nothing about Afro-American culture. It's not just hip-hop. It's also jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, techno music, house music, rock and roll, doo-wop, etc. Most music styles that exist today were started among black people in the U.S. I've seen young guys of all colors with sagging trousers. It's disgraceful like you are, but it's not a "black thing." Slang? Nigerians don't use slang? I've heard various ethnic groups from Italians to the Chinese use their own slang. But to you, it's wrong for black Americans to use slang. Wow. Aggresive? There are aggresive people everywhere. As for doctors and scientists, look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African-American_inventors_and_scientists. Feel silly now? And once again, another dumba$$ (you) tries to give a compliment after going through a tirade of insults, especially with the use of the word "akata." We all know it's a condescending slur, so don't act like it's not, dumba$$. Who are you trying to fool with this garbage? And how the hell are you going to sit there and act like there aren't any Nigerians who do silly crap? Who do you think you are? You are the one who knows nothing. |
Ileke-IdI:First, you're disgraceful for the reasons I mentioned above. Second, you're going to try to make a compliment after you made sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people? Please. Who are you trying to fool? |
Ileke-IdI:Out of curiosity, do you really think blacks in the U.S. care about you or what you think? No, and I'm one of them. I don't need nor want your acceptance. Thanks, but no thanks. If you don't care about black Americans, why do you talk trash about my ethnic group? Why is it that some Africans like to talk trash about blacl Americans? Oh, that's right, you can't talk trash about others because you're unable or unwilling to stand up to those that control the economies of your countries It's funny how you say black Americans are ignorant when you are expressing $tupidity, hatred, and ignorance yourself. So, Nigerians have no problems, right? All "ghetto" Nigerians are copying blacks in the U.S.? Silly. Just so you know (I feel like a broken record saying this), not every black person in the U.S. is on drugs or do whatever stereotypical garbage you think. I've never done that. As for imbeciles, it's you. You are the slowpoke. By the way, the word ghetto means "a place where people live." It described Jewish enclaves in Europe. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ghetto |
*sniffs* I smell bulls**t. |
^^^I know what I'm talking about. You, on the other hand, don't because every time you post a comment, you spew bulls--t. Shut up. |
Kony, the only thing you are keeping real is your $tupidity. What makes you the authority on what's attractive and what's not attractive? What makes you think you speak for or represent an entire group of people? You don't. You don't speak for anybody except you. That comment is very immature, ignorant, and childish. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Since you don't understand that, you are a giant a$$hole. |
Cap28, I suspect that will happen. |
That's the thing about k.o.n.y., SAFO. He's a slowpoke who makes wild claims like the one above and doesn't back them up. |
The western media isn't reporting this. How strange. |
