To get married legally in Nigeria, please visit the Ministry of Interior eCITIBIZ website. The site is www.ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng. Everything you need to know about marriages, location of the Federal Marriage Registries etc. You can also check to verify If your Place of Worship is license to conduct marriage in Nigeria.

To verify please click on:

1. E-Verify on the tap
2. Select License Place of Worship Approval Verification
3. Select State of Place of Worship
4. Select Place of Worship LGA
5. After your selections, click Verify and you should see list of Place of Worship licensed by the Ministry of Interior

Note: If your Place of Worship is not listed, that means the Place of Worship does not have the license to conduct Statutory marriage.

In addition to Federal Marriage Registries in Ikoyi and Abuja, Federal Marriage Registries are also located in Port Harcourt, Benin, Owerri, Kano, Jos, Umuahia and Uyo. Ibadan, Ikeja and others are slated to be open this year.

Federal Marriage Registries are to conduct marriages while LGA are only to register. Ministry of Interior by law is empower to regulate marriages in Nigeria and they are the only arm of government to also license Place of Worship to conduct marriage in Nigeria.
