Hello,

I am looking to link up with anyone going to Teesside University in January. I am in the process of securing an accommodation for my brother and wondering if anyone is interested in sharing a flat.

Please do get in touch.

Hiya,
Please see below my answers.

1. No I didn't have an appointment. I showed up and joined the queue for Fast Track.
2. As per documents, I submitted my old passport, passport application, payment and acknowledgement forms along with the postal order.
3. £100 Postal Order is purchased from the Post Office. It should be addressed to Nigerian High Commission.
4. I was there before noon and I collected my passport around 1500 same day.
5. Well the man at the entrance asked if I had an appointment but I told him I was there for Fast Track.

Like I previously stated, the initial process is quite chaotic but once your old passport and documents have been vetted ( whoever is in charge would sign to indicate its for Fast Track) you'll be allowed into the premises for submission and biometrics.

ProjektRekt:

Please I'm trying to get my passport renewed but I wasn't given an interview date. Could you please answer a few questions for me?
1) Did you have an appointment date?
2) What documents did you submit?
3) How did you get the £100 postal order for fast track?
4) How long did it take?
5) Did you get questioned about that day not being your interview day?

If you have any other information you think is relevant, please add it. I really appreciate your time.

The payment for fast track is done via postal order and its £100. They don't accept monetary payment at the counter that's why you're expected to purchase the postal order prior to attending. As far as I'm aware, there's no other payment required.

Like I said in my initial post, I didn't have an appointment but I was attended to same day. Please be aware that I do not work for the High Commission neither do I know anyone who works there. As such, I cannot guarantee what will happen when you attend.
I only posted my experience should it be helpful to someone else.

brine:

So basically I can go with £100 , pay it at as payment for fast track/postal order and have my passport collected same day? So, what's the postal order for then?

Sorry, I had to ask again. I don't mind making the payment as long as I am able to get my passport same day. Just worried I might not be attended to without an interview date and that would be a nightmare as I'll have to journey 7 hours to and fro London.

Hiya,

Postal orders from the post office are acceptable. Ensure its made out to Nigerian High Commission.

@ AeeNgy

Please, did you purchase the £100 postal order at the high commision or would they accept postal orders from any post office.

Kind Regards.

Hi,

You need to apply for the renewal on Innovate and pay the fees as normal. Once you've printed your application, payment and acknowledgment forms, you can then proceed to Nigerian High Commission for fast track. Ensure you're there before 11pm with your forms and £100 postal order. Be prepared for drama ( a lot of pushing and shoving) once the man in charge comes out to collect the passports.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for this info. But i need to know, do i need to register with innovate first or visit nigeriahc for fasttrack and do the registration.?

@ Stoicbaba,

I also applied for my passport renewal in June but didn't want to wait endlessly for an appointment. I decided to use the fast track option as I knew I would get my passport the same day. It comes at a cost though as you're required to purchase a postal order of £100.

I don't think you need an appointment to attend if you're using fast track ( I only showed up on Monday 10th August and by 1530 I had my received my new passport).
I know this option wouldn't suit everyone but that's how I was able to renew my passport.

Hiya,

I currently live in the UK. Only went to Finland after my marriage. As far as I'm aware, there's no citizenship by marriage in Finland. You are either Finnish by birth or via residency.
I didn't work in Finland so can't say much about the work environment. Generally, I never had any issues with the people while there but like every European country, racism exists. I don't think you should let the fear of racism deter you if that's your country of choice.
With regards to visiting Finland again, yes I can still visit because my parents in-law live there.
All the best.

Where are u currently living?
How did u get to Finland? Was it student visa, tourist visa, Citizenship by marriage, or outright payment for PR
Which city were u living in?
What was ur job like and how were u treated as an African u are? Will u say the Finnish people are any racists? Do they hate Black's ?
Do u av any regrets while still in Finland and after u left?
Would u still go to Finland if u wanted to? And y?

I know this are personal questions, u can chose to not to reply!

Pls who's living in Finland(Helsinki) should tell us how Finland really is, enlighten us!

Hi,

Maybe I can help with your query. Although I don't currently live in Finland, I've visited numerous times as my husband is Finnish.

Finland (aka Suomi) is a relatively small country in comparison to Nigeria. Official language is Finnish but you can also learn Swedish.
I see your interested in Helsinki. As with any capital, Helsinki is an expensive city but as a Nigerian, you'll survive. The most important thing is to learn Finnish as you might find it difficult to find a job where only English is spoken.
There are Africans (mostly Somalians) living in Finland but don't expect to see a similar number as you would in US or UK.
If you have any other question(s), ask away and If I can't give you an answer, I'll ask my hubby.

Sorry I'm bringing this here, I just feel there must people here with lots of experience about parcels sent to Nigeria from the UK.

An item was sent to me from the UK since 30th of May through Royalmail but it hasn't arrived. The last update about the item was on June 2nd and it reads "Your item has left the UK and on its way to destination country". The service used won't provide further details once parcel leaves the UK.

Local post office here say they can't track the parcel on their system. Please has anyone here used Royalmail with this period? I want to know whether the item is lost or they've just done me strong thing here by stealing it. I'm worried...

Thanks.

Hi,

I know this might be a late response.
Speaking from a personal experience, the first time I sent a parcel to Nigeria from UK via Royal Mail ( Post Office), my parcel ended up in South Africa then Namibia (reason given was because the tag had come off during transportation) before it finally landed in Nigeria (approximately 2.5 months).
Although the parcel was sent through Royal Mail, I found out that it was actually Parcel Force that was responsible for the delivery to Nigeria.
If you haven't received the parcel yet, ask the sender to try and contact Parcel Force and give them a description of the parcel.
Hope you get it if you haven't already.

No one can understand the joy I feel today. I never asked a single question in this forum because, its useless asking questions that had been previously answered. I used this forum to cheer myself up while I waited for a decision to be made on my application.
Contrary to what some people think, there are some reliable agents in Nigeria who don't charge a dime to assist you- Please, I am not advertising any educational agent as I only sort their assistance because of my tight schedule.
All we did was follow UKBA guideline, submit the right documents, pray, believe, and " dream". My visa was eventually issued after 9 working days. All roads lead to Aberdeen and congratulations in advance to those still waiting. @ Justwise, are you married? Sometimes I wonder how you and other moderators cope with your personal life.
