The last few weeks will go down as a dark, dark time in our history but things are looking up and getting better every day. 

You can't wait for football to get back - we all can't wait. 

It seems like a lifetime ago that we watched a live game of football, except for those who fancy Belarusian, Nicaraguan, or Turkmenistan football.

I mean no disrespect but those ain't the kind of live actions I would want to see - I don't know about you though.

And when you give it a thought, where would you even watch those games on TV?

Well, the good news, we are expecting some top leagues to resume in May, although it must be said that none of these dates are guaranteed becuase these are unprecedented times.

When Will Football Get Back?

Netherlands Eredivisie 

The Eredivisie - the highest echelon of professional football in the Netherlands, was cancelled because of the coronavirus, however, there seems to be a new twist in that tale for Dutch football. 

Dutch newspaper AD, in a new publication confirmed that some teams are considering legal action against the Dutch football's governing body the KNVB. 

One of the teams, Cambuur, is reportedly suing the KNVB for financials hit they would incur as a result of such decisions. Cambuur are 11 points clear at the top of the Eerste Divisie - Netherland's second division.

FC Utrecht are also reported to be unhappy with the decision, they are three points behind Willem II with a game in hand in the chase for a Europa League spot.

France Ligue 1

The French Ligue 1 has been called off after French Prime Minister, Édouard Philippe cancelled all sporting events until at least September 2020 because of the COVID-19 disease.

“The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September,” he said in a national assembly on Tuesday. “The 2019-20 professional football season cannot return.”

Initially, there were plans by the french football authorities to have the competition resume in June but the government's decision supersedes all and that means - officially there will be no football in France until September.

There will be a meeting of football officials in May to discuss the final league standings, with it yet to be determined who will be crowned champions, who will be relegated, and who will win promotion.

PSG are set to be crowned Champions with a 12 point lead at the top of the log.

Germany Bundesliga 

We have information the German Bundesliga is scheduled to resume in May, making it the first to resume football actions in Europe since the coronavirus outbreak but that's pending government's approval.

Bundesliga CEO Christian Seifert confirmed the Bundesliga is set to resume footballing actions as early as May 9, after a meeting between officials of the clubs in the top two tiers of German football.

All 36 clubs agreed to have matches resume with the aim of finishing the season.

There are suggestions games will be played behind closed doors, with rigorous testing of players and staff, as well as frequent deep cleaning of stadiums top priority for all involved.

England Premier League

According to the Sun, the English Premier League could be set to resume in a matter of weeks, with matches to be played behind closed doors but may be shown on free-to-air TV.

We picked eight of the most relevant for you.

Myth 1: The coronavirus can't survive in Sunny Regions, therefore exposing yourself to the sun prevents the disease.

The Truth: Countries with extremely hot weathers have reported cases of coronavirus.

Qatar, Ethiopia, Botswana, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Bahrain, Jamaica, Malaysia, India, Indonesia according to Legit are the 10 hottest countries in the world and they have reported a combined 11,220 confirmed cases of coronavirus. (Source:Worldometers)

Myth 2: You can't recover from coronavirus and it won't ever leave your body

The Truth: There are people who caught coronavirus and have recovered and eliminated the virus from their body.

Most COVID-19 patient recover if they are given proper health care.

As the time of writing, confirmed world wide cases stand at 1,084,015 with 227,745 recovery. One survivor shared her story, you can read it here.

Myth 3: Holding Your Breath for 10 seconds could signal you're coronavirus free.

The Truth: Holding your breath for a long period is not a sign you are free of a lung disease and definitely not coronavirus.
