Good afternoon Guys.
I have a small problem with my car. I was advised to reconnect my fan to relay and put thrmostat in my car, i was told it is the best for fuel economy and avoid continous working of fan. but ever since ive returned the fan to relay and thermostat in the radiator hose, Ive observed the following.
1. I keep topping my reserviour virtually every other day especially when i go far distance.
2. My temperature guage usually goes beyond the half temp guage and try to go higher when I climb a hill or brigde.
3. I feel my engine becomes hotter than normal, though relapses and I've not really experinced over-heating but My mechanic is warning me that better I return it to direct or I am riskying headcasket burn.
4. When I speed for like 15 t 20 minutes, the moment I slow down I see that the temperature guage rises.
5. But one thing I noticed is that if I switch-on my AC, the temp guage never ever go beyond half. No matter the distance, never. Could it be the thermoswitch?
And when the fan was direct I never experinced this.
Though I observe that water in the reserviour usually gets dirty. If I remove the reserviour and wash, put new water, it will get dirty after a week. I once met a raditor mechanic, he said I need to blow or remove the raditor for proper cleaning, and that after that I can buy coolant and put it inside. pls any help here?

@nomaison, if you have the capacity to change the engine, better do. That will give u more guarantee. a lasting. rest of mind. All you need to do is to ensure you get a good Tokunbo engine and a good mechanic probably an expert and a good auto-technician who can adequately install the engine while the technician will do good wiring of the engine.

hello good evening house, please can anyone here tell me where i can. do diagnose of my car and at the same time they can help me correct all improper connections in the car. I want to revert my back to factory setting and fix the problem. of high fuel. consumption. once and for all. please and please I need a good place to do this.

@gbenga and ballyah though the car is consuming fuel and i usually percieved fuel odour while driving but i never witnessed any fuel drop under my car. But today while browsing i came across what is called EGR P0401, and I observed that this EGR of a thing is never is my car. I can adeuquately say both the EGR valve and vacuum Modulator are never in my car. But i remeber a day that I observed this missing part while I was with my Mechanic, because I saw that about three other Camry I saw there, they all have thses two devices I mentioned. When Iasked my Mechanic heonly told me that, that is the way my own is built. But I never see any single Toyota Camry 1999 like mine that doesnt have. My question now is is1. are there those 1999 toyota camry cars that dont have this EGRvalve and Vcuum modulator and 2. Could it be that the missing of thses two devices are some of the cause of my car highly fuel consumptiom? Please make you una help me o. I can no more drive my car to long distance bacause I see that if care is not taken I will end up using my lat kobo to fuel my car. I have attached the two devices i am talking about in this post

@gbengageorge pls where is the catalyst located, I was told they are two. how do I detect if it has been removed

I think I experienced something similar abt three weeks ago. let me share. I observed that my movements was not in proportion with my throttling. it was like that for like 3 day but the fourth day when I had a long journey my tyre got burst.I still didn't take note because I thought d tyre has expired. the next day was when I discovered inside go-slow that my car will remain in one place on a flat surface of the road even when. released my foot on the brake the car won't move at all until I place my foot on the throttle. this is unusual to a n automatic transmission. then when I came out of the hold-up and accelerated for like 10 minutes I perceived a smell like a burnt clutch. but I know my car doesn't have clutch pedal. I quiclky pack to check whether the one of the tyre is touching the body. it then I realised that a smoke was coming out of my tyre rim, qhen I observed closely I saw it was coming out of the brake caliper. I quiclky called my mechanic and he immediately told me what happened and that was it. the piston inside the caliper got stuck and that make the brake got grip to the brake disc. a branched to a nearby mechanic who helped me to loose the tyre and run the caliper piston. it was then I knew the damage that small fault did to my vehicle. my tyre got burst, the new tyre also got somehow twisted and it gulped my fuel qnd a slight impact on my car engine

deportivo I'm sorry about that. as for the fan, both fans are directly connected. they start working immediately I start the. engine. Honestly I kn9w about the issue of direct fans and it implication on fuel supply. but I still chose to partially disregard it. this is because initially I wholeheartedly believed this theory. but because I jave a very close person that uses camry like mine, he uses his car with the two fans directly connected and he never experience this high fuel consumption, thouhh I can't say whether his car is working at optimum. one thing I forgot to add to my postnwas that I usually perceived fuel odour while driving I never see any drop of fuel on. from the car but I do experience it especially when I fire and when I park the car in hot weather

@ZIMDRILL, thanks a lot for your concern. the two cars a same, they are both Camry tinylight. with same engine apacity. with same tyre sizes. we didn't even take any passenger. its not about engine capacity and load. its just about my own car is extremely comsuming fuel. I believe even if I load my own car with people that doesn't meqn the rate of consumption should be that wide when compare with my brother's car.

favoured247, is the car consuming fuel like mine? cos I was told something like that, but when I went to check few auto websites majority said the catalyst converter is always made to serve each car for its life span but can occasionally get spoilt.

Good afternoon, please can anybody assist me here. I have a ToyotaCamry 1999. I observed since over five months i have bought it that it consumes a lot of fuel. Inititally I was comparing the fuel consuming rate to the informatiion I haeard about camry on its fuel economy. However I was able to substantiate that it consumes more fuel when me and my brother travel to Ibadan. We both allow our gas to reach red at fuel guage and we make sure the guage is at the same place. We bought exactly N3000 fuel in each car. Alas! when we reached Ibadan from Lagos My own fuel guage is already giving me red while that of my brother remain about 2/3 of what we bought bough. I have changed the plug and the airflow meter is good. The car is not smoking and it doesnt give any sound that signifies the exhaust is faulty. But at time When I warm it in the morning I percieved a mild foul smell from the exhaust but with no black smoke. In fact it drops water and this cold engine white smoke. I also feel tht whenever I fire is when the fuel goes down and few times when i accelerate the level of fire is more than the real movement of thje car

please I want to hear from house, how safe it will be to buy a used car from far Daura in katsina state? what procesure can I adopt to avoid buying a car that has great defect?
