I'm surprised you see it as something difficult to do, if you love someone, these things should come easily to you. everything you wanna do in life is a choice, you can choose to make it difficult or easy for yourself.

now that you are thinking its difficult I don't think you are ready to keep a long term relationship

it requires alot of hard work, patience, love and determination.
after 6months of dating, so many annoying and distasteful characters start becoming visible in your partner, you probably get to start hating her sef but with lot of patience, you will be able to absorb them and see the other side of it, and it gives you the energy or should I say the will to forgive
and when you are determined to love someone no matter what happens, that determination will be a force to drive you and to move you on even when the going gets tough. though, I'm not saying you should remain in a relationship that not only trips you but injure you, what I'm saying is, check yourself and the problem might be from you.
