Yes! The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in collaboration of MasterCard just launched the National eID Card with a pilot program and announced at the World Economic Forum on Africa while 13 million combination government ID cards/debit cards will be rolled out over the next year. This is good thinking in the right direction. Using the card is also expected as a payment tool, Nigerians can deposit funds, receive social benefits, save, or engage in many other financial transactions that are facilitated by electronic payments.

Nigerian movie fans await popular Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, as she premieres her latest movie, Single, Married & Complicated, in Nigeria this weekend.



The new movie, which is a sequel to the 2012 hit movie, Single & Married, attracted a lot of buzz across the continent when the actress released posters, snapshots and a trailer for the movie early this year. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Phillip Katongu, for allegedly stabbing his wife to death.
The police said the victim, Justina, was stabbed to death in a street at Oniru Estate, Maroko, Lagos, where she and her husband were living.
Justina was stabbed in about three places before she died. Also, the knife used for the murder had been recovered by the police.

The body of a two-headed dolphin has washed up on a beach in Turkey this week. DailyMail reports that the conjoined corpse was seen floating onto the shore in Izmir on Turkey's west coast on Monday by sports teacher Tugrul Metin. It had two heads but merged to share just one tail.

He released a statement from his isolation room at Emory University in Atlanta where he's being treated after he was flown out of Liberia last week. American president Barack Obama has said that the infrastructure system in Nigeria and other West African countries is not yet mature enough to absorb the experimental drug treatments given to Americans who contracted Ebola and cured them. Health workers have hailed reported success of the experimental drug, ZMapp, on Ebola infected American doctor, Dr Kent Brantly and American Missionary Health worker, Ms. Nancy Writebol.

Within an hour of receiving ZMapp, the Ebola-infected Dr. Brantly’s condition dramatically improved. He was said to have began breathing easier; the rash over his trunk faded away. One of his doctors described the events that followed after he was given the drug as “miraculous.”
