Probably. Anyway, I hope you found something educative in my response. Honestly Nigerians need to reduce their exposure to stress. Do you kknow that stress has also been linked to aging. That is why most Nigerians look older than their ages. Stress is unhealthy, we should therefore avoid it at all cost.
Health / Re: How Unhealthy Is Eating Late? by agbaje4u(m): 7:07am On May 26, 2010
Arewa, eating late is unhealthy and bad for you. I know you want to maintain your good looks. To do that rather than eating three big meals a day, I will suggest you eat about six small meals daily. This will reduce your craving for food. Increase your intake of protein to 1.5 x your body in grams daily. Reduce your fats and carbs intake to 0.5 x your body weight in grams daily. Avoid pasteries like meat pie, hamburger etc. Increase your intake of fruits, vegetables, nuts and salad. Yes salad with olive oil dressing. Drink lots of water between 8-10 glasses daily is adviseable. Avoid stress at all cost. Be active while at work, brisk walking round the office will do. And sleep well.

Nigerians using food to cope with stress? Whoever said that? I only said most Nigerians are exposed to a lot of emotional stress and therefore inclined to gain weight based on that study. You see when you are under stress your body secrets the chemicals adrenalin and cortisol. With increased stress especially the emotional which most Nigerians are exposed to, your body secrets increased amount of cortisol. This has been found to change body system and result in fats storage in the body especially among those with tendency to gain weight. In some cases even heightened cortisol secretion have been found to increase the crave for more food especially the starchy foods.

Health / Stress And Weight Gain by agbaje4u(m): 11:09pm On May 24, 2010
A research conducted in the US has linked stress to weight gain. Put simply it was discovered during the research that those under unbearable amount of stress tends to amass fats faster than those under less stress even if they eat the same quantity of food. Considering the fact that Nigerians in most cases are usually under serious stress. This therefore explains the reason why most Nigerians are obese. Nairalanders, I need your take on this.

Why are so many Nigerian men and even women spotting pot bellies nowadays? It's pathetic. There is no way you will come across ten men or women without at least 5 or 6 of them spotting pot bellies. Why? Why? Why?
