Foreign Affairs / U.S Declares New Proxy On Iran, China And Russia by agostinochigi: 10:24am On Apr 28
With the new aid packages (Aid packages to allies are weapons and money to purchase weapons in preparation for war) from the United States of America to Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine in preparation for war on new fronts in the future. The way the war with China and Iran will play out is yet to be known but i suspect the U.S and Israel will use their proxies in ISIS to punish Iran and in the case of China they will keep supplying weapons to Taiwan as they are presently doing in Ukraine.

China has expressed desire to bring Taiwan under One China by any means necessary and the U.S has vowed to assist Taiwan in resisting any such move from China.

if iran wanted to hit israel they wouldn't have used cheap and slow shahed drones. More than 8 ballistic missiles hit Israeli military's facilities.

Foreign Affairs / Why Israel Is No Match For Iran by agostinochigi: 1:02pm On Apr 15
The only strength Israel had over the Iranians is its allies, the U.S, the UK and France.

Iran has overcome this by aligning itself with Eurasia(China and Russia) by joining the BRICS and the Shanghai cooperation organization and China has promised a "no limits" partnership and signed a 25-year "strategic agreement" with Iran in 2021. If the U.S, UK, France interferes by helping Israel directly attack Iran, Russia and China will step in and attack help Iran directly attack Israel.

Another Alliance that no one is talking about is the Iran and North Korean alliance. There are a lot of North Koreans living Tehran and the reason they are there is to build "DEEP AND WIDE" tunnels all over Iran beyond the reach of bunker piercing missiles.

Iran has moved its government and military's command underground and beyond reach with the help of the North Koreans.

The long awaited war between Israel and Iran started when Israel attacked Iran's embassy in Damascus, Iran has responded with by striking several airbases in Israel with Ballistic missiles, they overwhelmed the iron dome using slow shahid drones and low quality missiles, the largest volley of missiles and drones ever launched was launched by Iran against Israel.
Nevertheless, Israel has vowed a response regardless of if the missiles hits any target.
Politics / Peter Obi's Romance With The North And The Problem It Poses For The APC by agostinochigi: 12:21pm On Apr 10
As Peter continues moving about in his black and black attire, he is saliently sending a message to everyone that the he is still on the campaign trail, he has obviously not given up.
President Tinubu has really angered the North with the way Malam El-rufai was disgraced during ministerial screening, if corrupt Akpabio could become senate president how much more a man of integrity like El-rufai? The northern people are now voicing their discontent with the Tinubu regime. Recently a cleric in the north dared Tinubu to arrest clerics who speak up against the the regime, HOW CAN YOU STOP FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

What is the APC going to do about it?

Nigeria might be heading to be like it was when Buhari was in power when he fell sick and the cabal took over and even relegated the vp to the outskirts of power.

In this case the cabal kingpin will be Shettima. When Tinubu relegates himself to the shadows.

Shettima reminds me of Eli Cohen, an Isreali spy that became a minister in the Syrian regime.
Politics / Foreign Exchange Reserves Dips By $1.02bn As CBN Keeps Defending Naira by agostinochigi: 2:07pm On Apr 08
Foreign-exchange reserves is money or other assets held by a central bank or other monetary authority so that it can pay if need be its liabilities, such as the currency issued by the central bank, as well as the various bank reserves deposited with the central bank by the government and other financial institutions, As of April 4, 2024, the FX reserves stood at $33.43 billion, down from $34.45 billion on March 18, 2024, according to the latest data from the CBN.

Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserve plummeted to its lowest level since February 20, 2024, when it was $33.42 billion. This marks a decisive end to a period of steady accrual, during which the reserve witnessed a 43-day surge, accruing $1.28 billion between February 5 and March 18, 2024. The CBN earlier attributed the rise to increased remittance payments from Nigerians abroad and heightened interest from foreign investors in local assets, including government debt securities. The apex bank also noted that the increase was due to reforms in the foreign exchange market and an increase in oil production amongst others.

The downward trend reflects a significant drawdown in the reserves, which have been depleting since March 18, when they peaked at $34.45 billion. The reserves dropped to $34.39 billion on March 19 and continued to fall steadily, hitting $33.57 billion by April 2, and further sliding to $33.43 billion by April 4. This marks a decline of $1.02 billion within 18 days, indicating the pressure on the reserves amid ongoing efforts to stabilize the local currency.

CBN’s FX Interventions
The CBN has been actively intervening in the foreign exchange market to shore up the naira, which has been under pressure from various economic factors. This intervention often involves the sale of dollars to ensure sufficient liquidity in the market, an action that has likely led to a decrease in FX reserves.

Within the 18-day period under review, the CBN announced the complete clearance of the valid foreign exchange backlog and the sale of $10,000 foreign exchange to each Bureau De Change operator (BDC) in Nigeria at a rate of N1,251/$1.

What You Should Know
The depletion of FX reserves is a cause for concern as it reflects the state of the country’s balance of payments and its ability to meet international obligations. A significant decline in the reserves can affect investor confidence and may lead to a credit rating downgrade, which can further impact the nation’s borrowing costs.

Nigeria faces multiple economic challenges, including theft and losses in the oil and gas sector, which have traditionally been a significant source of FX for the country. The decrease in reserves may also limit the CBN’s ability to intervene in the currency market, potentially leading to further depreciation of the naira.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently projected that Nigeria’s foreign reserve is expected to see a significant reduction, falling to $24 billion in 2024. The IMF anticipates a challenging period through 2024–25 for Nigeria’s financial account, exacerbated by an absence of new Eurobond issuances, significant repayments of existing funds and Eurobonds totalling $3.5 billion, and continued portfolio outflows. However, it projected a hopeful recovery to $38 billion by 2028 as portfolio inflows are forecasted to increase.

Policymakers may need to balance immediate currency stabilisation efforts with long-term economic strategies to ensure the health and stability of Nigeria’s financial position on the global stage.

Is it FG that increase the price of good and services or business owners?

If the excuse is about dollar going up hence price goes up, how about when the dollar is coming down yet the price are not dropping, should government also be responsible for that?

added transportation cost as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

When you put on your thinking cap and examine the inflation situation of Nigerians you will come to the inevitable conclusion that Tinubu's administration is intentionally using rising prices as a tool intensify the war on the middle class in Nigeria i.e to wipe out the middleclass, to wipe out the mom and pop store. Many people will become poor, you are either an elite or a pauper.

The plan is to make things so expensive that it becomes out of reach to the average Nigerian, People now have to spend more than is required to acquire goods and services so that by the time things stabilize(Yes, things will get better so be saving money now so that when the economy stabilizes you will be able to afford goods and services), the average Nigerian will become so poor that he will not be able to afford the goods and services despite price being reduced.

If you are in doubt please consider some of the intentional move that this administration has carried out that directly impoverished Nigerians;
1. Removal of fuel subsidy- Even before taking office, the man announced the removal of fuel subsidy, fuel is the liveline of the Nigerian economy the price of goods depends on the price of fuel, the higher the price of fuel, the higher the price of goods. Tinubu increased the price of fuel on the first day in office, intentionally reducing the purchasing power of the people.
2. Floating of the currency- We like to blame the BDC and crypto platforms for the fall of the naira when in reality, the government of Tinubu engineered the fall of the naira by letting it float, allowing its supply to be determined by demand and supply. There is large demand for USD within Nigeria and limited supply.
3. Removal of Subsidy on Electricity for certain segment of the population.
