Nigeria is quite the cultural country where most are taught the importance of respect as a part of their upbringing. But sometimes oppression and entitlement dressed in the cloak of respect manage to sneak in, and as the younger generation, we're expected to keep quiet in the face of this blatant oppression. Well, it all ends now. The person who claimed his seat from Wole Soyinka has sparked an online conversation on the difference between oppression and respect, and we stand with him on this one. So here are five times, Nigerian elders will tell you to have some respect but in actuality, they are trying to scam you. Feel free to say "No". 1 "My son, let me quickly use the ATM. I need to rush somewhere" Dear ma, I have to rush somewhere too. You're not the only one with a job. Or a life. So calm down and take your place at the back of the line. All over the world, little humans who do nothing to contribute to their upkeep are being celebrated today. All these humans do is eat, sleep, mess things up, and throw a tantrum but for some reason, the world thinks we should throw them a party. So we're mad and a little jealous but we're also a uber nostalgic. And since we're not being celebrated, we've decided to throw it back to the 90's when we were younger, saddled with zero responsibilities and our digestive system was in top shape. Embarrassment is a very funny feeling. And quite personal too. You just did something awful and all you want is for the ground to open up and take you in but someone else hears the story and says, "that's it?" Now you're left wondering if they'd be completely fine if they were in the same situation. This is kinda the way it is with Nigerians. Certain things are just not embarrassing enough. Or at all. 1. Going over your luggage limit at the airport and begging for the extra to be overlooked https://kraks.co/list/numericlist/4-embarrassing-situations-nigerians-are-not-afraid-to-put-themselves-in/
