Breaking: FG Publishes List Of 15 Alleged Terrorist-Financing Suspects In Nigeria. Federal Government has unveiled a fresh list of individuals and companies accused of powering the financial lifelines of terrorist networks — a move officials said marks one of the boldest steps yet in Nigeria’s 2024 counter-terrorism drive. The designations, drawn from a far-reaching inter-agency security review, identified nine individuals and six business entities alleged to have aided the flow of money, logistics and other support materials to extremist groups operating within and outside the country, according to reports from a security analyst, ZagazOla Those named in the latest security brief include Tukur Mamu, Yusuf Ghazali, Muhammad Sani, Abubakar Muhammad, Sallamudeen Hassan, Adamu Ishak, Hassana-Oyiza Isah, Abdulkareem Musa and Umar Abdullahi. In addition, the government flagged several firms — mostly Bureau De Change operators and general trading outfits — for allegedly enabling transactions tied to terrorist activities. The companies listed are West & East Africa General Trading Company Limited, Settings Bureau De Change Ltd, G. Side General Enterprises, Desert Exchange Ventures Ltd, Eagle Square General Trading Company Limited, and Alfa Exchange BDC. Security operatives, who worked on the review, said the action was the result of “months of intelligence tracking,” during which investigators dissected suspicious financial flows and worked closely with international partners. According to one senior official, the move is aimed at “cutting off the oxygen supply” that allows terror networks to thrive. Authorities say the clampdown is part of a broader national strategy to reinforce financial-sector compliance, curb the misuse of BDC operations, and bolster ongoing military missions in the North-East and North-West. The Federal Government has also signalled that the dragnet will widen. Officials confirmed that more names are currently under scrutiny as agencies intensify surveillance of banks, money-changing outlets and cross-border cash movements.

The Forum, which includes the governors of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo States, met at the Governor’s Office Secretariat, Ibadan, on Monday to deliberate on critical issues affecting the South West, with security emerging as a top priority. In attendance at the closed door meeting that lasted several hours are Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Lagos state Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun while Osun State Governor was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi. In a communiqué that was read by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the end of the meeting, the Forum expressed solidarity with the Federal Government following recent attacks, including the abductions at Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Niger State, St. Mary’s Catholic institution in Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger, and the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State. The communiqué applauded the swift Federal response, which led to the safe rescue of over 51 students in Niger State and other abductees in Kwara State. The communiqué stated, “The Forum commends Mr. President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the fight against insecurity and various economic reforms and other developmental agenda. We express solidarity with the Federal Government in its efforts following the recent spate of kidnappings and applaud the swift response toward the rescue of the abductees.” “To enhance regional security, the Forum resolved to establish the South West Regional Security Fund (SWSF) under the DAWN Commission, to be administered by the Forum of Special Advisers on Security and reviewed monthly. To this end, the Forum agrees that the Federal Government should help deploy Forest Guards across the South West States, with each State Government responsible for providing the required personnel. “The Governors reaffirm their collective commitment to reclaiming the forests, and ensuring that these spaces no longer serve as safe-corridors for banditry, kidnapping, or any form of criminal activities.” The Forum expressed concern over unregulated interstate migration, describing it as a significant security challenge. The communiqué stated, “The Forum calls for stricter border monitoring, data collection and self-identification, and each South West State to work with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for proper identification. We agree to intensify security collaboration to ensure that interstate migration does not become a conduit for insecurity.” Issues on Illegal mining activities were also addressed. The communiqué emphasized, “The Forum expresses deep concern over the escalating illegal mining activities across the South West States, which continue to threaten environmental safety, public health and regional security. We call for comprehensive and enforceable licensing framework, strengthened monitoring mechanisms, and strict enforcement actions against violators who may perpetrate violent crimes under the guise of mining.” The Forum reaffirmed its support for the establishment of State Police, stating clearly in the communiqué, “The Time is Now, and it can no longer be delayed.” Commitment to Peace and Stability Finally, the Forum called on all residents of the South West to remain united, stating, “We remain one, indivisible entity that will continue to enjoy and guard the religious tolerance that we have always been known for.”

UAE Visa Ban 2025 – Suspension of Visit & Work Visas for Nine Countries The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily suspended visit and work visas for nine countries, raising concerns among travelers and job seekers. This unexpected decision has sparked discussions as the UAE is a popular destination for both employment and tourism. In this article, we will provide the latest updates on the UAE visa ban, the list of affected countries, possible reasons for the suspension, and what this means for applicants in 2025 and beyond. List of Banned Countries for UAE Visa 2025 According to an internal immigration notice, the ban affects both tourist and employment visas. Citizens from the following nine countries are currently unable to apply for new visas: Uganda Sudan Somalia Cameroon Libya Afghanistan Yemen Lebanon Bangladesh While holders of existing visas can still enter and remain in the UAE, new applications from these countries will not be processed until further notice. Reasons Behind the UAE Visa Ban The UAE government has not publicly clarified the reasons for this ban, but there are several likely explanations: Security Concerns: Many of the countries on the list face ongoing political challenges and security issues. The UAE may be tightening entry regulations to enhance national security. Immigration Control: The UAE has previously imposed similar restrictions to address problems like overstaying and irregular documentation. This ban could help manage the flow of migrants and tourists until stricter measures are in place. Diplomatic Factors: Diplomatic relationships and regional conflicts may also play a role in such decisions. The ban could be a temporary measure to monitor travel patterns more closely. Impact on Nepali Applicants Although Nepal is not listed among the banned countries, the term “UAE visa ban for Nepali” has been trending due to the reliance of many Nepali workers on the UAE job market. Currently, Nepali nationals are not affected by the 2025 suspension, but applicants should stay informed as the UAE may change visa rules with little notice. Effects of the UAE Visa Suspension For Applicants Those with valid UAE visas can continue to travel. New visa applications from the nine banned countries are currently not being accepted. Travel agents and recruitment agencies have been instructed to halt applications until the suspension is lifted. For Employers Companies and recruitment agencies in the UAE may face delays in hiring workers from these countries and may need to seek workers from other labor markets. For Families Families wishing to bring relatives from the listed countries to the UAE on visit visas must wait until the ban is lifted. History of UAE Visa Restrictions This is not the first time the UAE has implemented a visa suspension. In previous years, applications from Nigeria were restricted due to overstaying and illegal residency issues. Certain work permits were also paused for countries with high undocumented worker populations. These patterns indicate that the UAE government frequently introduces temporary bans to address specific concerns. Future of the UAE Visa Ban Many people are curious about whether the same restrictions will apply in 2026. While there is no official information yet regarding the extension of this policy, experts suggest that the list of banned countries could change based on: Security situations in the affected countries. Diplomatic relations between the UAE and other nations. Changes in the UAE’s immigration policies. Applicants should continue to monitor announcements from official UAE immigration authorities regarding the visa ban. Recommendations for Affected Applicants If you are from one of the banned countries, consider the following steps: Check official UAE channels, such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP). Avoid fraudulent agents who may claim they can still process visas during the ban. Wait for official notifications about when the suspension will be lifted. Look into alternative destinations for tourism or employment until the UAE resumes visa issuance. Main points The UAE has suspended travel and work visas for nine countries in 2025. The banned countries are Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon and Bangladesh. Existing visa holders will not be affected by this restriction. There is no timeline for when the ban will be lifted and the situation could change in 2026 depending on various factors. Conclusion The UAE visa ban affecting nine countries in 2025 underlines the country’s strict immigration policies and the importance of compliance. Although the suspension is temporary, it will impact thousands of applicants from Africa and Asia who were planning to move to or work in the UAE. For now, affected individuals will have to wait for official confirmation on when the ban will be lifted. Staying informed about UAE visa updates will help applicants plan better for 2025 and beyond. |

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has declared its spiritual independence from the Church of England following the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the new Archbishop of Canterbury. According to the statement, the appointment of Bishop Mullally who becomes the first woman to occupy the position marks “a troubling moral decline” within the Church of England’s leadership, given her known support for same-sex marriage. “This election is a double jeopardy,” the statement read. “First, it disregards the conviction of the majority of Anglicans who cannot accept female headship in the episcopate; and second, it is even more disturbing that Bishop Sarah Mullally is a strong supporter of same-sex marriage.” The Church recalled Mullally’s 2023 remarks after the Church of England voted to approve blessings for same-sex couples, in which she described the decision as “a moment of hope.” The Nigerian Anglican leadership said such views have further deepened divisions that have plagued the Communion for over two decades. “It remains to be seen how the same person hopes to mend the already torn fabric of the Anglican Communion by advancing a policy that has caused enormous crisis across the Church,” the statement added. Declaring that the global Anglican family could no longer accept the spiritual authority of the Church of England or the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Church of Nigeria reaffirmed its allegiance to the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) and its principles. “As a member of the GAFCON family, the Church of Nigeria affirms its commitment to uphold the authority of the Scriptures, the historic creeds, evangelism, and holy Christian living, irrespective of ongoing revisionist agendas,” the statement said. The Church also called on conservative Anglicans in England and around the world to remain steadfast in defending biblical truth and rejecting teachings that, in its words, “compromise the Christian faith.” “We encourage all faithful brothers and sisters in the Church of England who have consistently rejected the aberration called same-sex marriage and other ungodly teachings to continue contending for the faith once delivered to the saints,” the statement concluded.

2027: APC Chieftain Endorses Dangote–Otti Presidential Ticket. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, has called for a joint presidential ticket between billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, ahead of the 2027 general elections. Nataro, a former governorship aspirant in Kebbi State, said the pair represents a combination of private-sector expertise and public-sector discipline that could revive Nigeria’s struggling economy. In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Nataro said Nigeria urgently needs leaders who understand economic management and industrial growth to tackle rising inflation, unemployment, and poverty. “If Dangote can step down as chairman of all his conglomerates, as he recently did in two companies, Nigerians will support him to contest with Otti to industrialise Nigeria within a short period,” he said. The APC stalwart argued that Nigeria’s recovery depends on the inclusion of reform-minded administrators and business experts in leadership. Mallam Nataro noted that Otti’s performance in Abia State shows his commitment to transparent governance and development-driven leadership. He also praised Otti for seeking low-interest credit facilities abroad to support infrastructure and economic projects in the state. Nataro criticised state governments for neglecting vocational training and agriculture-based industries that could empower young people and curb social vices. “Economic initiatives that create employment will help discourage youths from street crimes and drug abuse,” he added. On fiscal policy, he urged authorities to review revenue collection practices, especially in the Federal Capital Territory, where he said excessive charges discourage investment. “Revenue generation should be pursued cautiously and not in ways that discourage business or investment,” Nataro warned. Nataro also advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the performance of his appointees and ensure accountability and efficiency in policy execution. However, as at the time of this report, neither Dangote nor Governor Otti has reacted to the endorsement.Nigeria flight deals

Gjrich:According to biblical prophecy, countries that fight against Israel will indeed face God's wrath. Here are some key points to consider: Nations Mentioned in Prophecy: Specific nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39, such as Russia (Magog), Iran (Persia), Sudan (Cush), Libya (Put), and Turkey (Meshech and Tubal), are expected to form an alliance against Israel. These nations will face God's judgment for their actions. God's Judgment: The Bible describes God's judgment on nations that attack Israel, including. Destruction: Zechariah 12:9 states that God will destroy all nations that come against Jerusalem. Punishment: Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 38-39 describe the punishment that awaits nations that oppose Israel. Divine Intervention: God will actively intervene to destroy the massive invading force with a fierce earthquake, landslides, self-destructive panic, pestilence, excessive rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Historical Precedents: Throughout history, nations that have abused or attacked Israel have faced God's wrath. Examples include Assyria, Babylon, and Egypt, which were punished for their actions against God's people. Future Implications: The ultimate fate of nations that fight against Israel is tied to their treatment of God's chosen people. As Psalm 122:6 says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee." |

Wike Dragged Before US Govt Over Newly-Acquired Florida Mansions, Faces Visa Ban. Source: https://politicsnigeria.com/breaking-wike-dragged-before-us-govt-over-newly-acquired-florida-mansions-faces-visa-ban/ Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been dragged before the United States government over alleged unlawful acquisition of multimillion-dollar properties in Florida. Activist Omoyele Sowore, in a petition dated September 22, 2025, asked the Florida attorney general, James Uthmeier, to prosecute Mr Wike for alleged money laundering and to initiate forfeiture proceedings against the assets. The petition, signed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, also urged U.S. authorities to impose sanctions and visa bans on the minister. The petition, citing Peoples Gazette’s September 1 report and supported with three claim deeds as exhibits, alleged that Mr Wike, with the assistance of his wife, Justice Eberechi Nyesom-Wike of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, secretly purchased three luxury lakeside homes in Winter Springs, Seminole County, between 2021 and 2023. The properties, now valued at over $6 million, were reportedly transferred to their children — Jordan, 25, Joaquin, 23, and Jazmyne, 20. The identified homes are: 113 Springcreek Lane, bought for $535,000 and transferred to Jordan; 209 Hertherwood Court, bought for $459,157 and transferred to Joaquin; and 208 Hertherwood Court, bought for $465,000 and transferred to Jazmyne. According to the petition, all three purchases were made in cash using quitclaim deeds, a transfer mechanism often used within families but vulnerable to exploitation for concealing illicit funds. “These transactions, executed in cash and hidden under the names of his children, form a deliberate scheme to launder the proceeds of corruption into U.S. real estate,” the petition stated. Mr Sowore further alleged that the properties were never declared to Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau, thereby breaching the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution, which requires public officers to disclose all assets. He also cited several U.S. and Florida laws allegedly violated, including the Florida Money Laundering Act (§896.101, Fla. Stat.), the Contraband Forfeiture Act (§932.701–707, Fla. Stat.), and U.S. federal statutes on money laundering (18 U.S.C. §1956 and §1957). “This brazen conduct, combined with his unexplained foreign acquisitions, suggests that Florida is being used as a safe haven for laundering the proceeds of corruption,” the petition added. Wike is one of President Bola Tinubu’s most cherished ministers and played a key role in securing his victory in the controversial 2023 election in Rivers State.

Boko Haram Overruns Nigerian Army Barracks in Borno, Seizing Weapons as Soldiers Flee. Source: https://share.google/1UpVl1s5NZ9hEIEwl Suspected Boko Haram insurgents stormed a military barracks in the border town of Banki late Thursday, forcing soldiers to abandon their posts and flee across the border into Cameroon while seizing a cache of weapons and ammunition. The attack, which residents described as a coordinated overnight assault, has displaced thousands and reignited fears of a jihad IST resurgence in Borno State, the epicenter of a 15-year insurgency that has claimed over 40,000 lives. Eyewitnesses in Banki, a town long scarred by Boko Haram's brutality—including a decade-old occupation and repeated raids—reported hearing intense gunfire and explosions around 9:30 p.m. local time. "The militants came from the bush in large numbers, overwhelming the soldiers who had no choice but to run," said Aisha Modu, a 42-year-old mother of four who fled with her family toward Cameroon. "They set fire to vehicles and looted the armory. By morning, the town was empty of troops." Security sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the insurgents—believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram or its splinter group, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)—targeted the 152 Task Force Battalion, a key outpost guarding the Nigeria-Cameroon border. The militants reportedly burned several military vehicles and made off with rifles, grenades, and other equipment before withdrawing under the cover of darkness. At least nine soldiers and 31 civilians were killed in the chaos, according to local accounts, though the Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official casualty report. The assault triggered a mass exodus, with an estimated 5,000 residents—many already displaced by prior violence—pouring into neighboring Cameroon for safety. Humanitarian agencies, including the United Nations, warned of an impending crisis, as the influx strains already overburdened refugee camps. "These people have lost everything: homes, livelihoods, and now their sense of security," said a spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross. "Banki has been a flashpoint before, but this feels like a step backward." The Nigerian Army, reached for comment, did not immediately respond to requests from this news desk. However, recent military statements have touted ongoing counterinsurgency operations in Borno, including ambushes that neutralized eight ISWAP fighters just days ago.

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards cultism and continues to carry out intelligence-led operations across the state. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities to help security agencies restore safety to their communities. As the clampdown continues, more properties with established links to cult activities are expected to be demolished, reinforcing the government’s declaration that there is no safe haven for cultists in Edo State.

The Edo State Government has demolished four houses linked to suspected cultists and arrested more than twenty individuals in a major security operation across the Etsako West Local Government Area. The action was carried out by the state’s Special Security Squad, known as “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers”, under the leadership of the Chief Security Officer to the Government House and the Governor’s Principal Security Officer. One of the properties demolished, located on Egbiadokhai Street behind Otaru Primary School in Auchi, belonged to a wanted cult figure known as Too-Believe. The building had been identified as a regular meeting point for the Confraternity. During the operation, security forces recovered two cut-to-size guns, two black beret caps, and one sharp axe from the premises. Too-Believe remains at large. Another property demolished in the Anoguele Street area of Iyakpi, South-Ibie, was owned by a cultist named Kuwat, a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He is accused of being the main mastermind behind the recent brutal killing of a local barber and also managed to escape before security forces arrived. A third property in the Ogodomiza Area of Ibie-Nafe, belonging to another cult leader, was also levelled. Prior to its demolition, two young men—Momoh Austin, 17, and Joseph Oyazojo, 21—were arrested at the location. They confessed to being brought to the area to engage in cybercrime, commonly referred to as Yahoo Yahoo. Authorities also conducted raids at the Hybrid Hotel and Suites in Elele, Uzairue, where additional suspects were taken into custody. The government’s action follows the expiration of a 166-day grace period offered by Governor Monday Okpebholo for cultists to renounce their affiliations and accept offers of soft loans and skills acquisition training. That window was widely ignored, prompting the current crackdown. John Izegaegbe, Secretary of the State Security Squad, stated during the demolition exercise: “The Governor gave 166 days of grace to all cultists to renounce, offering soft loans and skills training. That window was ignored. Now, desperate times call for desperate action. This demolition is a warning to all landlords and cultists, stay out of cultism or face the full wrath of the law.” He confirmed that the demolished building in Auchi was directly connected to a murder committed earlier in the week. Another security official, Eribo Emwanta, issued a broader warning: “We are advising parents and hotel owners to be vigilant. We are cleaning out these communities, and hotels harbouring criminals are next.” The operation signals the state’s strict enforcement of the Secret Cult and Similar Activities (Prohibition) Law 2025, which prescribes life imprisonment or a minimum of 21 years for cult membership. The law also stipulates that landlords who permit cult activities on their properties face at least ten years in prison, in addition to forfeiture and demolition of the building.

Israel issues evacuation warning for Hodeidah, says will attack Yemen port city in next few hours. “For your safety, we urge all present at Port of Hodeidah and the ships anchored there to evacuate the area immediately," IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee said. The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order for the Hodeidah port in Yemen on Tuesday, while warning that it will be attacking the area in upcoming hours, Reuters reported. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee urged residents in the port city to evacuate ahead of the attack. “Urgent Warning to Everyone Present at the Port of Hodeidah in Yemen… The Defense Army will attack in the coming hours in the area specified on the map in light of the military activities carried out by the terrorist Houthi regime there,” Adraee said in a post on X. “For your safety, we urge all those present at the Port of Hodeidah and the ships anchored there to evacuate the area immediately,” the IDF spokesman said, adding that anyone who chose to stay back in the area would “put their life in danger”. This comes days after Israel carried out heavy airstrikes in Yemen, killing dozens, in response to the Houthi rebels' drone attack which struck an Israeli airport. The Israeli strikes in Yemen on September 10 killed at least 46 people, wounding more than 160 others, with most of the casualties being in the country's Capital Sanaa, according to the Houthi-run health ministry. In Sanaa, a military headquarters and a fuel station were among the sites hit, the health ministry stated. Al-Masirah, a Houthi-controlled satellite news channel, had also reported that neighbouring houses near the military building were also damaged. This would be the latest in a series of airstrikes carried out by Israel, with the one on August 30 leading to the deaths of the Houthi prime minister and other top officials. This was a major escalation in the nearly 2-year-old conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group, and the first such which targeted senior officials in Yemen.

In just three days, Israel has carried out strikes in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Qatar and Yemen. On Tuesday, Israel launched a targeted air strike on a Hamas leadership compound in Qatar’s capital, Doha, during a meeting to discuss a US-proposed ceasefire for Gaza. The strike killed six people, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, the director of al-Hayya’s office, three bodyguards and a Qatari security officer. However, its top leaders are reported to have survived the attack. The attack was part of a wider wave of Israeli strikes extending beyond its immediate borders, and marked the sixth country attacked in just 72 hours and the seventh since the start of this year. On Monday, 67 people were killed and hospitals received 320 wounded, including 14 people killed while seeking aid, while six people – among them two children – died from famine-related causes. On Tuesday, another 83 people were killed and 223 were injured. Israel is continuing its assault on Gaza City, targeting high-rise buildings, destroying infrastructure, and forcing residents from their homes, leaving many with nowhere safe to seek shelter. Since its onset in October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 64,656 people, including at least 404 who have died of starvation. Thousands more have been lost under the rubble and are believed to be dead. Despite a truce, Israel bombs Lebanon On Monday at 1:00pm local time (10:00am GMT), Israeli warplanes carried out strikes in the Bekaa and Hermel districts of eastern Lebanon, killing at least five people. Israel’s military claimed it had struck weapons depots and military facilities used by Hezbollah, though the assertion could not be independently verified. Hezbollah has not yet issued a response. The attacks marked the latest breach of a ceasefire agreement signed last November. Despite the truce, Israel has continued near-daily assaults on Lebanese territory, particularly in the south, and maintains an occupation at five border outposts in violation of the ceasefire’s withdrawal terms. On Tuesday, an Israeli drone strike was reported at the entrance of the village of Barja, about 30km (19 miles) south of Beirut, wounding a Hezbollah member. On late Monday night, Israeli warplanes struck several sites in Syria, hitting a Syrian air force base in Homs and a military barracks near Latakia, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Residents reported powerful explosions in Homs and ambulances rushing to the scene in Latakia, though there were no immediate reports of casualties. Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the attacks as a “blatant violation” of its sovereignty and a “direct threat” to its national and regional security. State media described the strikes as part of “a series of aggressive escalations” by Israel aimed at undermining Syrian sovereignty. Since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, Israel has launched hundreds of strikes on military sites and infrastructure across Syria. It has also expanded its presence in the occupied Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarised buffer zone, in violation of a 1974 disengagement agreement with Damascus. The SOHR reports that Israel has already carried out nearly 100 attacks this year, including 86 air raids and 11 ground assaults, destroying approximately 135 sites and killing 61 people. On Monday night, the Global Sumud Flotilla’s (GSF) main ship, the Family Boat, was struck by a suspected Israeli drone while docked at the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, igniting a fire. The 23-metre (76-foot) vessel, sailing under a Portuguese flag and carrying the flotilla’s steering committee, had six people on board. According to the GSF, the blaze damaged the main deck and storage areas but was quickly extinguished by passengers. All crew and activists were reported as safe. The Family Boat is part of a coalition of more than 50 vessels with delegates from at least 44 nations seeking to challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza. It departed on August 31, 2025, before joining other ships at Sidi Bou Said port. A second attack followed late on Tuesday night, when another flotilla vessel, the Alma, sailing under a UK flag, was also targeted by a suspected Israeli drone in Tunisian waters. The GSF said the strike caused fire damage to the ship’s top deck, though the flames were brought under control and no casualties were reported. Since 2010, several flotillas have attempted to break the blockade of Gaza, with most being intercepted or attacked by Israel in international waters. Israel targets Hamas leaders in Qatar The attack on Qatar, nearly 2,000 km (1,243 miles) from Israel, marks the first time Israel has struck the small Gulf nation, which has hosted multiple rounds of negotiations between Hamas, Israel and the United States. The explosions were heard across Doha with thick smoke rising above the skyline. Israel’s military later confirmed it had struck a compound in the West Bay Lagoon area, a district which is home to foreign embassies, schools, nurseries, supermarkets and residential compounds housing native Qataris and foreign residents. The Hamas leadership has been hosted by Qatar at the request of the United States, which also has a regional command centre, CENTCOM, located just 35km (22 miles) away from the location of the attack.

Our enemies must know, since the creation of Israel, the blood of Jews is not cheap-Netanyahu According to a report by The Times of Israel on September 9, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a forceful address at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, following a targeted airstrike in Qatar that killed senior Hamas officials. His remarks underscored Israel’s uncompromising stance against terrorism and reaffirmed the state’s readiness to confront threats without hesitation. “One thing our enemies must know, since the creation of Israel, is that Jewish blood is not cheap,” Netanyahu declared, stressing that Israel would not permit attacks on its citizens to go unpunished. His statement came against the backdrop of an operation described by Israeli officials as one of the most significant strikes against Hamas’s external leadership in recent years. The prime minister revealed that the targeted site was not chosen at random but was the very location where Hamas leaders had celebrated the October 7, 2023, assault on Israel, which resulted in mass casualties and international condemnation. “This strike was not just a message it was justice,” Netanyahu said, adding that the airstrike represented Israel’s determination to hold those responsible accountable. He further warned that the so-called “age of immunity” for terrorist leaders who operate from safe havens abroad was over. “The blood of Jews is no longer cheap since Israel’s establishment. We will pursue those who harm us, wherever they may be,” he declared. Netanyahu’s comments also touched on international diplomatic frameworks. He noted Israel’s alignment with principles earlier endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump, arguing that the ongoing war in Gaza could end immediately if Hamas accepted those conditions. “If Hamas is ready to embrace them, there is a way to peace,” he said. Speaking directly to the people of Gaza in English, Netanyahu urged them not to be deceived by Hamas’s strategies. He accused the militant group of showing complete disregard for civilian lives, pointing out that its leaders shelter underground in fortified tunnels while leaving ordinary Gazans exposed to bombings and shortages above ground. “They use you as human shields while ensuring their own safety,” he remarked, portraying Hamas’s leadership as cynical and self-preserving. Regional analysts suggest Netanyahu’s speech was designed both to project strength to Israel’s adversaries and to reassure a domestic audience still grappling with the trauma of past Hamas attacks. The prime minister has faced mounting pressure from within his coalition to demonstrate decisive military action while simultaneously navigating delicate diplomatic relations with Washington, Doha, and Cairo. International reactions have so far been mixed. While some Western leaders quietly acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself, human rights groups expressed concern about the risks of escalation, particularly given Qatar’s role as a mediator in hostage and ceasefire negotiations. Critics argue that the strike could complicate efforts to revive talks and deepen humanitarian suffering in Gaza. Nevertheless, Netanyahu’s framing of the operation as a moral and strategic necessity appears to signal Israel’s commitment to a long-term campaign against Hamas leadership abroad. By invoking historical memory and the founding ethos of the Jewish state, he sought to remind both allies and adversaries that Israel views the defense of its people as non-negotiable. “The world must understand,” he concluded, “that Israel is not passive. We will continue to defend ourselves, and those who shed Jewish blood will pay the price.” he said.

Federal High Court Rejects Bail Request For Alleged Al-Shabab Terrorists A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a bail request made by five alleged Al-Shabab terrorists who allegedly attacked a Catholic Church in Owo town, Ondo State. Naija News reports that the terrorists attacked reportedly lead to the death of over 40 church worshippers. Justice Emeka Nwite, who dismissed their bail application, held that the terrorism charges against them were capital in nature. The judge also held that they were accused of being members of a terrorist organization who may intimidate witnesses, influence and jeopardize the trial of the defendants before the court. Delivering a ruling on the bail application, the judge upheld the arguments of the Department of the State Service (DSS), that the evidence against the alleged terrorists was weighty and cannot be glossed over. The trial judge also upheld the submission of the security agency that the five accused persons did not establish having credible sureties that can stand for them pending their trial. He maintained that the arguments of the DSS that admitting them to bail would amount to judicial risk was also not challenged by their lawyers. Justice Nwite held that the defendants failed to give cogent reasons on why they should be granted bail pending their trial and subsequently dismissed the bail request. Before going into the merit of the bail application, the judge had earlier declared the motion on notice incompetent on the ground that names of the five defendants were not listed on the motion paper as required by law. Similarly, the judge faulted the motion paper on another ground that a joint affidavit of two paragraphs was in support of the request for bail of the five defendants as against the position of the law that each of the accused persons must have separate affidavits to back up such request. While granting accelerated trial, Justice Nwite fixed October 19 for commencement of trial. Recall that their bail application dated August 11, 2025, was argued by their counsel Abdullahi Awwal Ibrahim on August 19, 2025. The five accused persons are Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris and Momoh Otuho Abubakar. According to Zagazola Makama, while arguing the application, the lawyer submitted that the accused persons assembled reliable and responsible sureties. The request was, however, opposed by the DSS lawyer, Dr Callistus Eze, on the ground that the accused persons may escape because of the gravity of the charges against them. He had urged the court to refuse the bail application and allow the defendants remain in the DSS custody. Some counts in the charge read: “That you, Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris and Momoh Otuho Abubakar adults, males, with others still at large, sometime in 2021, did join and became members of AL Shabab Terrorist Group, with cell in Kogi State and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 25(1) of Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. “That you, Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris and Momoh Otuho Abubakar, adults, males, with others still at large, on 30th May, 2022; 37 June, 2022 and 4 June, 2022, at Government Secondary School, Ogamirana, Adavi LGA, Kogi State and behind Omialafa Central Mosque, Ose LGA, Ondo State, respectively, attended and held meetings, where you agreed to and planned for the terrorist attack, which you carried out on 5™️ June, 2022, at St. Francs Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 12(a) of Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.” ©

A circular from the Edo Secondary Education Board, SSEB, has surfaced, directing teachers across senior secondary schools in the state to cut grass and clean up school premises ahead of resumption. The circular contradicts the state government’s earlier denial that teachers were instructed to do menial jobs. The circular is dated August 27 and signed by Obarisiagbon M. I. on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the SSEB, Dr. Maureen Ekhorangbon. It was addressed to all Executive Principals of senior secondary schools in the state. The circular read in parts “All Executive Principals are directed to take off the grasses and clean up their schools ahead of resumption. “This exercise is to keep our environment clean, hygienic, safe, and to inculcate discipline and voluntary service into our students”. The directive scheduled teachers to carry out the exercise on September 1, while students were to join a week later, September 8. According to the circular, principals were mandated to personally supervise the exercise and submit photographic evidence of compliance to the board’s “integrity WhatsApp page” by Friday September 5. “This exercise is mandatory and forms part of our collective responsibility in sustaining the Governor’s education reform agenda,” it emphasised. The emergence of this document appears to lend credence to concerns earlier raised by civil society groups that teachers were being compelled to engage in grass-cutting and other maintenance work in schools. The Ministry of Education, however, issued a statement on Monday dismissing the allegations, describing them as “unfounded.”

Tinubu Always Running Away From Nigeria To Europe Amid Insecurity, Hardship: Obi Mr Obi stated that from all indications, Mr Tinubu was not finding his home in Nigeria conducive for a long stay. A former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips amid insecurity and economic hardship in the country. In a statement on Friday, Mr Obi said “It does look like Mr. President is running away from Nigeria at every slight opportunity. And one would wonder why so much of his two years in office has been spent on holidays or away from the very country he was elected to preside over.” The Labour Party chieftain said, “from all indications, our President is not finding his home in Nigeria conducive for a long stay, and it should be concerning to us. For the umpteenth time, Mr. President waved the nation goodbye again, barely six days after his return to Nigeria, after he spent 15 whole days for just a five-day engagement. He is now heading for about his 10th trip to France in two years, this time for his annual holiday.” Mr Obi added, “At least 79% of Nigerians have been reported to be facing food insecurity, that is over 180 million people facing hunger. Nigeria, just last month, was declared the worst country to give birth, and just weeks ago, the worst place to live, with the world’s worst life expectancy. We deserve a president with all hands on deck to solve these issues.’’ Lamenting insecurity in the country, Mr Obi said, “At a time when Nigerians need leadership, empathy, and presence, a President should not choose foreign holidays. Across Nigeria, last month alone while Mr. President was on one of his many trips, over 50 people were killed in the horrifying mosque and village attack in Katsina State, with over 60 people kidnapped. This is exclusive of the many bandit attacks and kidnappings just last month.” Mr Tinubu jetted out of Nigeria to Europe “to commence a working vacation in Europe, as part of his 2025 annual leave,” presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, stated on Thursday. He added that Mr Tinubu’s vacation would last for 10-working days to be spent in France and the United Kingdom and then return to the country. |

NPA Transforms Eastern Ports To Become Nigeria’s Next Maritime Hub The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), is sustaining the drive in transforming the The transformation is expected to turn the assets as pivotal drivers of economic growth and regional development. Despite facing longstanding challenges such as poor infrastructure, security concerns, shallow port drafts, and inadequate equipment, these ports hold enormous potential. Currently, over 30 per cent of imports that arrive through Southwest ports are transported eastward, underscoring the need to strengthen local port capacity to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Historically overshadowed by Lagos, Eastern ports like Port Harcourt, Onne, Warri, and Calabar have remained underutilized despite their proximity to key industrial zones and resource corridors. They currently handle less than a third of their capacity, but with targeted investments and improvements in road and rail connectivity, they can handle up to 35 percent of Nigeria’s maritime business and create over two million jobs. Under the leadership of NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, a vigorous campaign to reposition these ports is underway. Key initiatives include dredging to deepen channel drafts, expanding terminal capacity through public-private partnerships, and modernizing infrastructure to welcome larger vessels. The recent call of the Nigerian-owned MV Ocean Dragon at Onne is a strong symbol of this “Nigeria First” policy aimed at boosting intra-African trade under the AfCFTA framework. Strategic partnerships with global shipping lines like Hapag-Lloyd, 24-hour customs operations, and tariff incentives have contributed to increased traffic and exports from the Eastern ports. Investments totaling over $1 billion are driving infrastructure upgrades, including road network integration and advanced marine safety equipment. Enhanced security patrols have reduced piracy risks, further ensuring the safety and reliability of shipping routes. The ongoing improvements are expected to yield significant economic dividends for the Southeast region. Industrial hubs in Aba, Onitsha, and Nnewi stand to benefit from better access to ports, reducing logistics costs and transit times. Port Harcourt is poised to become the Gulf of Guinea’s offshore logistics leader, while Calabar and Warri strengthen regional connectivity with Central and West Africa. By aligning with the federal government’s economic diversification and “Nigeria First” policies, the NPA’s multifaceted strategy is positioning Eastern ports as vital engines of Nigeria’s blue economy. With continued infrastructure development, security enhancements, and private sector engagement, the Eastern maritime corridor is set to play a central role in Nigeria’s evolving maritime landscape and regional trade integration.

5 Basic Factors Why The Southeast Is Developing Faster Than The Southwest. 1. Entrepreneurship and Industry: The Southeast boasts cities like Aba, Nnewi, and Onitsha, which are renowned for commerce and manufacturing. Aba excels in the footwear and clothing industries, while Nnewi leads in auto parts and light machinery. 2. Diaspora Investment: Igbo communities abroad actively invest in their home regions, funding projects such as estates, schools, hotels, and hospitals in cities like Awka, Enugu, and Asaba. 3. Community-Driven Development: Locals in towns like Orlu, Nsukka, and Ohafia organise through town unions and development associations to construct essential infrastructure like roads, schools, and healthcare facilities without relying on government support. 4. Strong Educational Base: The region has a high literacy rate, thanks to institutions like the University of Nigeria (Nsukka), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Awka), and Federal University of Technology Owerri. This educated population fuels innovation and local capacity development. 5. Compact, Interconnected Settlements: The proximity of towns in the Southeast facilitates easy movement of goods, people, and services, promoting urban fusion and development. While the Southwest has its strengths, particularly in industrialisation and agricultural production, the Southeast's unique blend of community-driven development, diaspora investment, and entrepreneurial spirit has contributed to its rapid growth. |

Japan Designated 4 Hometowns For Nigerians, Ghanians, Tanzanians, Mozambique The government of Japan on Thursday named the city of Kisarazu as the hometown for Nigerians willing to live and work in the country as part of its strategic efforts to deepen cultural diplomacy, promote economic growth and enhance workforce productivity. This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Director of Information at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye. The statement noted that under the new partnership, announced on the sidelines of the ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development, the Japanese government will create a special visa category for highly skilled, innovative, and talented young Nigerians who want to move to Kisarazu to live and work. “Artisans and other blue-collar workers from Nigeria who are ready to upskill will also benefit from the special dispensation visa to work in Japan. “Japan International Cooperation Agency, in a ceremony, also named the cities of Nagai in Yamagata Prefecture the hometown of Tanzania, Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture the hometown of Ghana, and Imabari in Ehime Prefecture the hometown of Mozambique. “Through the arrangement, Japan looks to strengthen exchanges with the four African countries by officially connecting municipalities with existing relations with those nations,” the statement stated. On her part, Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires, Mrs. Florence Adeseke, also the Acting Ambassador to Japan, and Yoshikuni Watanabe, the Mayor of Kisarazu, received the certificate from the Japanese government naming Kisarazu the hometown of Nigerians. The four cities will foster a foundation for two-way exchanges for manpower development that will add value to the economic growth of Japan, Nigeria, and the other three African nations. “Local authorities hope that the designations will increase the population of their cities, contributing to their regional revitalisation efforts. “Kisarazu was the official host town of the Nigerian contingent for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The team conducted their pre-games training camps and acclimatisation in the city before moving to the Olympic village, in the COVID-19 delayed Olympic Games,” it added. In his opening address at the TICAD9, where he announced $5.5 billion in New investment in Africa, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba emphasised the importance of mutual understanding, local solutions, and collaborative efforts for Africa’s development. The Prime Minister outlined Japan’s focus on private sector-led sustainable growth, youth and women empowerment, and regional integration. Prime Minister Ishiba acknowledged the challenges of Japan’s ageing population but emphasised that locally rooted solutions are essential for Africa’s development. “Japan is providing various cooperation and support for Africa. But first of all, Japan needs to know more about Africa. So, in creating solutions together, this co-creation at the TICAD 9, we focus on three important areas: private sector-led sustainable growth, Youth and Women, and Regional integration and connectivity within and beyond Africa”. He appealed to African countries to assist Japan as it grapples with the challenges of a declining population and shrinking agricultural land. |
