Nairaland / General / Re: Mukina2, Nairaland's First Supermod, Has Resigned by AIT1(m): 10:41pm On Mar 03
Seun:
When I started Nairaland, I operated it all by myself, but by 2007 I was overwhelmed. Mukina2 swooped in and volunteered to be a super-moderator. She also helped me to recruit section moderators. This enabled us to move forward. Initially, she worked for free, but over time she became a paid supermod. One of the best.

Last month, I gave her a particular instruction which is the most basic instruction you can give a moderator. Clean up ALL the sections you've been assigned to and report to me after EACH one. She steadfastly refused until the month end. She felt that she was doing her job and there was therefore no need for me to tell her what to do.

I insisted that she must choose between resigning and following this particular instruction. She eventually chose to resign, saying "let's go our separate ways". We will miss her a lot. I will miss her a lot. I wish her the best in all her future endeavours. She will do great. She may return if she changes her mind, but the show must go on.

Seun

I feel the statement you made on doing that particular instruction you gave or resigning her position is harsh, except she’s been doing a lot of things lately that you do not like and you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

But, if she has been diligent in her role for the past 17 years, then, you shouldn’t have severe ties with her this way. I might be wrong but you didn’t do well.

Hi, apologies for the late response!

I’m not really sure where I come in here. I’m afraid that I’m unable to provide a recommendation at this time for personal reasons.

Note: I don’t know who sold this idea of independent recommenders to people. All my recommenders were people that I had a professional (academic/work-related) relationship with.

Please, can you help clarify if there are restrictions on Green Card issued to someone through NIW. Must the person always be in the same profession or research as the proposed endeavor? Will there be a problem for someone if he switches job or research after getting the GC?

You don't trade Eurobond, you invest in it. It is good for diversification,

The Investment returns between 6% to 10% per annum in dollars and also hedges currency devaluation risk. Meaning your $1000 valued at less than 500k in January 2023 is now between $1050 $1100 valued at between N1.3 million to N1.35 million

You can access 85% of the official exchange rate equivalent as a Naira loan at 20% per annum from UC Plus Advance Ltd a subsidiary of United Capital

Hello Sir. On this, can it be a “set and forget” system? Or do I need to monitor anything? I’m looking for something I can always introduce new capital once or twice a year and compound with my interest between 5-10 years, does this fit in?

Hi, I completed the whole process myself, didn’t use a lawyer.

And yes, an approval is very much possible without recommendation letter(s).
I think it depends on the applicant’s profile. Some applicants already have a really superb professional profile and very weighty proposed endeavor, that even without recommendation letters they are good to go.

My opinion; If an applicant thinks or believes that getting recommendation letters adds value to their application, then by all means go for it!

Hi, thanks for the information. Please can I know if your profile is tilted to academics or industry? I can see that we have related endeavor in infectious disease but my job experience is mainly as a Teaching Assistant.

Hi, thank you!

No, it is not. However, it is recommended and has become the ‘norm’ for a lot of applicants. I submitted a CV and/or documented professional profile for all of my recommenders along with the letters.

Some of your recommenders e.g well published professors, might already have their CV online (as was the case for one of mine). Alternatively, you can download and print out a copy of their LinkedIn profiles.

Essentially, the CV going with the letters just helps the reviewing officer to see the accomplishments of your recommender to show their expertise in your field and how they are well-positioned to recommend you.

P.S;Ideally, the first paragraph of your recommendation letter should be a brief intro of your recommender’s professional profile.

Hope this is helpful.🤗

Thanks. The string of information is definitely helpful to me.

Please, do they contact the referee by mail or by phone call? You know how our Nigeria professors are always slow to responding to mails or even checking their emails. That’s my fear.

Thanks for this!, just forwarded to a friend who is in the same scenario, though her spouse is currently in the UK.

**************************

In other related news, the big eagle landed this week!🎉. I received approval notification for my I-485 (Greencard application).
Fun Fact: I-485 approval came exactly a year after I-140 approval. So, yes! another even greater Christmas gift in 2023.❤️

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread that I started just to create awareness while I was waiting on USCIS decision for my application. I remain committed to creating awareness to people about this legal immigration pathway.

IF I do decide to, I might start a YouTube channel or Instagram page to create more content about EB Greencards (been on my mind for a while now), but fingers crossed.

Anyways, this phase is done and I am deeply grateful to God for it. We go again for the bigger eagle (citizenship application) in 5 years, God willing🙏🏽.

Congratulations on your approval.

Please, is it compulsory to submit the CVs of my Recommenders?

Not as much as the UK because the buses are always on time.

My own definition of punctuality is having a meeting or appointment with someone. If an American tells you we will meet by 10:00am, I swear the person will not get to the meeting ground 10:01am even if he/she will drive for 2 hours to the venue.

I have never seen an American that will give you an appointment and appear late, it can never happen. If the person won’t make it, he would have sent you message ahead of time for you guys to reschedule.

Someone with a property worth N90 million getting a rental income of N4 million per annum. He got a loan of N9 million to buy a cheap land that he will pay back in 3 years or less.

Will you advice him to sell his property in order to buy the land because he doesn't want to be foolish.

Second quarter of the year, I borrowed against my Eurobond Fund investment with United Capital when Naira to dollar was less than N900 by the way it is now over N1200 to a dollar.

Bought more of Dangote Sugar at average price of less than N25.

The Eurobond Fund Investment is up, the target Investment is up. I have paid down 80% of the fund using Investment income.

It is very possible to always eat your cake and have it.

By the way Ololo of Falcon Securities was used by the former CEOs of some failed banks to perform miracle on their stock

If the Investment income from the portfolio does not make sense, one needs to be careful.

What is the Investment income from Omatek, Oando and some stocks, that does not mean some gamblers can't make money from them, it is better to create a sustainable system that will continue to generate investment income, before thinking of borrowing against future income that will be produced by the portfolio

Boss, please can you direct me on how to trade Eurobond? I wish to invest in it from next year.

https://tribuneonlineng.com/10-key-facts-about-diabetes-you-should-know/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1700041789

Eating sugar is not the primary cause of diabetes. Sugar can only aggravate it. Till today, the cause of diabetes is yet to be discovered. Diabetes occurs when the body self-destruct the islet of the langerhans in the pancreas. As a result, the pancreas will not be able to produce insulin again (Type 1) or the Pancreas will produce insulin that would not be enough for the body (Type 2). Insulin is what helps to mop up sugar from the food so that it doesn’t go to the blood. So, since the insulin production is now affected, it implies if that person continue to take sugar without control, his blood sugar will continue to shoot up and lead to complications.

So, sugar do not cause diabetes, it only worsen it for someone that is living with diabetes already.
