Speaking yesterday, the former Togo and Mali coach begged soccer fans to allow him rest with his family in the United State of America as he was no longer in charge of the national team.

Keshi urged fans to direct their questions on the Eagles to the assistant coach of the team, Abdulahi Yusuf, who will now work with head coach Shuaibu Amodu on an interim basis until a substantive coach is engaged by the NFF.
“Please, I want Nigerians to leave me alone and allow me spend time with my family. The only thing on my mind now is to be with my family and I don’t want to be bothered with any matter associated with the Super Eagles.

“‘I want people to understand that I do not have anything on the Super Eagles. The only thing I want to do is be with my loved ones. Direct all your questions to Yusuf or whoever is coaching the team”, added the former Eagles captain.

In Buhari's 36 days, Boko haram kills 406 Nigerians ... source: THISDAY, the saturday newspaper- July 4 2015 ,page 9

Buhari’s administration is clearly not making any progress in the war against Boko Haram terrorists. Ever since lost territories were recovered from these bastards by the Jonathan administration, there has not been any proactive/pragmatic effort to minimize suicide bombings by the terrorists. I was shocked when I compiled the casualties in the last 36 days of this administration. 406 innocent Nigerians have been killed in the last 36 days by Boko Haram in the North-east. That is an average of 11 people killed daily. Please, check out the timeline below.

SportsCold War: Is The NFF Witch Hunting Keshi? by aiynosainte(op): 3:33pm On Jul 04, 2015
By Aiyeku Timothy, Okoronkwo Chijioke

The recent saga between the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, and Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has been bemoaned for the way it smacks of what some have termed witch hunting.

Keshi has barely enjoyed a peaceful relationship with the NFF due to one issue or the other since he returned. So many question marks have hung over his job and the doubts have increased incredibly.

The witch hunting began after the NFF delayed a new deal for the Big Boss, leaving him to wait for months without knowing what direction to go.

After he was offered a new deal, some stringent clauses were contained in his new deal.

He was presented with a 27 clauses and offered 5million, barred from talking to the press about issues of his salary or his employers. It was insisted his statements on the team go through the image maker of the NFF.

The NFF stressed that Amodu would be held responsible for the failure of the team. Indirectly he is in charge and not Keshi, against the usual practice in other advanced countries.

On another faithful day, reports that Keshi applied for the managerial job of the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire put him in the crosshairs of the public despite his denial.

“I will appear before the committee to explain and there is no way it will deter me from serving my country or doing my job,’’ shouldn’t Keshi’s comments be enough?

[/img]

The NFF spent a whopping sum of $8,000 approximately N1.6 million going to Ivory Coast to investigate the reports when they could actually put a phone call across to the Ivorian FA and get all the information needed.

World class coaches like Pep Guardiola, Vicente del Bosque, Mourinho, and the like were linked to the Nigerian job (laughably so) during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa but had no problem with their employers.

Prozone, arguably the world’s most popular opposition scouting and post-match analysis platform, has not been perceived as a bigger tool by the NFF to enhance and improve the quality of the game. Instead, they seriously engage unserious issues seriously.

The NFF must come back down to earth to resolve the unending drama and witch hunting of coaches and players.

What is worth doing is worth doing well. If Keshi must be the coach, he must be allowed to work under the right conditions.

PoliticsZakari Cannot Deny Her Unholy Romance With Buhari – Political Expert by aiynosainte(op): 1:26pm On Jul 02, 2015
A lecturer in the Department of Political Science in the University of Lagos, Dele Ashiru ( political scientist ) has condemned the appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by President Muhammadu Buhari stressing that the Mrs. Zakari lacks the needed integrity, based on her unholy romance with the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the then National Electoral Commissioner in Jigawa State.

“Prof. Attahiru Jega, the former INEC Chairman brought personal integrity to the commission during Jonathan era, why then must Buhari decide to bring baggage of partisanship and questionable character like a person of Mrs Zakari,” Ashiru stated.

He added; “I challenge her to organize a press conference and deny any involvement with the current President and top government functionary, she will see the reactions of Nigerians.’’
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday rejected the appointment of Mrs. Zakari on the ground that she is an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, who had disclosed this in a press conference in Abuja, alleged that Zakari was too close to the Presidency and one of the Governors of the APC, from the N/West, as a result her appointment was unethical.

While speaking, Ashiru lamented that Mrs. Zakari credibility was in doubt, adding that Jega would have consulted widely to come up with Ambassador Mohammad Wali as his successor.

He asked: “why must the president alter this appointment?”

In the Presidency response to the claims, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr.Femi Adesina insisted that due process was followed in making the nomination.

“Contrary to Mr Metuh’s allegations, President Buhari’s appointment of Mrs Zakari as Acting INEC Chariman was based entirely on merit, her vast experience in the internal operations of INEC and the President’s commitment to affirmative action in support of gender equality, because, apart from being fully qualified for the position, Mrs Zakari was the only woman among the six Commissioners considered.

“His claim that the PDP has rejected Mrs Zakari’s appointment is also laughable after he had admitted that the right and power of the President to make such appointments cannot be questioned,” the presidency had said.

SportsRe: Why Switching Match Venues Will Hurt The National Teams by aiynosainte(op): 12:48pm On Jun 29, 2015
we missed that chance to qualify for the world cup because of switching of match venue in the dying minutes when we drew against 1-1 Angola in kano, a match that we needed to win badly to top the group , players complain of bad pitches now and then, plus the recent one team captain Vincent Enyeama complain of insecurity of match venue in kaduna where it was reported most fans scaled the fence to make there way into the stadium.
SportsWhy Switching Match Venues Will Hurt The National Teams by aiynosainte(op): 3:20pm On Jun 27, 2015
The recent spat between the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and the team captain Vincent Enyeama calls for urgent attention, true but rotation of match venues for the Senior National team, the Super Eagle is becoming a worrisome trend.

Nigeria was voted as the world’s second most entertaining team at the USA ’94 World Cup. Boasting players like Rashidi Yekini,Daniel Amokachi,Finidi George, Emmanuel Amunike, Victor Ikpeba, Asutin “Jay Jay” Okocha, and so on.

These top class national team players got used to playing in a particular stadium and system; especially in home matches in which the National Stadium Lagos was a sure bet as match venue.

The Lagos National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Surulere, Lagos State with a capacity of 55,000. The capacity was then reduced to 45,000 in 1999. It was used mostly for football matches until 2001.

It hosted several international competitions including the 1980 African Cup of Nations final, the 2000 African Cup of Nations final, and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. It also served as the main stadium for the 1973 All-Africa Games. Tragically the National Stadium degenerated until 2009, when the National Sports Commission made a concerted effort to bring the facility back to world class status.

During this era the National Stadium Lagos was made a fortress, it was one on the most difficult grounds to visit, as there was a perfect connection between the fans and the players. This only attests to the fact that the atmosphere in the stadium is always something of a national pride. The support was electric and a morale booster for the team whenever the Eagles had home fixtures.

Nigeria won the 1980 Nations Cup in this stadium winning all their matches and drawing only one against Ivory Coast in the group stage and went on to only loose on penalty shootout to Cameroun in 2006 final Edition in which they won five games and drew two including the 2-2 draw with Cameroun in the final.

This venue was abandoned at the completion of $360 million Ultra Modern Abuja National Stadium a capacity of 60,491 Opened in 2000 to host the “All African Games.” Now, it is the unofficial home of national teams.

Other stadia used by the Super Eagles in recent years include: ...

Recall that the Super Eagles’ crucial 2006 World cup qualifier game which was slated for Calabar was moved to Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano State abruptly, the result was calamitous as Nigeria drew with Angola, in a must win game to topping the group.

This quickly swung the pendulum to the Angolan side as they went on winning their remaining two games, picking their first ever World Cup ticket in the process at the Nigeria’s expense.

It is no longer news that the Super Eagles are spoilt for choice for stadia all around country but if we must make steady progress, we need to make our National Stadium a fortress once more, to bring stability and cohesion between the team and the fans in other to reach our goals as world football beaters.

Endless changing of match venues will only bring instability both in team performances and results as well as psychologically feeling the impact of the 12th man which is of course the fans.

African Stadia like the Cairo International Stadium with 74,100 Capacity, Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium Yaoundé, Cameroon with capacity 38,509, The Marrakesh Stadium, Morocco with capacity of 45,240 amongst others are well known in Africa and globally as hostile lion dens for opponents.

If there is time to bring such an atmosphere back to Nigeria, that time is now. The NFF has to sit down with stakeholders and chart the course for a worthy match venue. Your guess is as good as mine; I am rooting for Abuja Stadium.

This has to be considered in order to achieve the success we long for. Players need to get familiar with a particular environment at home for confidence and a relaxed mind to avoid the kind of complaints made by Vincent Enyeama that subsequently landed him in hot water with the NFF.

Where will the Eagles fare better both in terms of results and performances in your rating; Abuja or Calabar?
