TWENTY political parties are supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Gboyega Oyetola in today’s supplementary governorship election in Osun State. Addressing a news conference in Osogbo yesterday, the leader of Alliance for Cooperating Political Parties (ACPP), comprising Advanced Democratic Congress, National Conscience Party and People for Democratic Change, among others, Prince Adesoji Masilo, said the coalition was backing Oyetola because of his intelligence and character. Masilo said his African People’s Alliance polled over 2,000 votes at Saturday’s inconclusive poll, adding that over 20 political parties decided to support APC owing to the party’s progressive spirit. According to him, the APC had proved that it is capable of developing the state. He urged members of the coalition to troop out today and cast their votes for the APC. Masilo, who decried the vote buying that characterised last Saturday’s election, said politicians should desist from such act. He said voters should refrain from selling their votes and ensure that they vote Oyetola. Read more:http://www.ajijolablog.com/2018/09/osun-20-parties-back-apc.html

source:http://www.ajijolablog.com/2018/09/osun-rerun-why-adeleke-cant-win.html The All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its candidate, Ademola Adeleke, would still lose the rerun of the governorship election in Osun even if they get the support of the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate, Iyiola Omisore. APC said the opposition party was battling to get Omisore’s support because it was clear to them that Adeleke cannot win on the popular vote. In a statement on Tuesday by the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC in Osun State, Kunle Oyatomi, the party said Adeleke was the least educated and qualified candidate. The statement reads, “They know that the PDP candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, can’t win on the popular votes. “First, he is the least educated and qualified candidate Osun has ever raised in its history of the political contest. “The fraud that brought him to this level (manipulation of card readers and purchase of PVC of ill-informed voters) that we are now discussing him as a potential governor, marks us as essentially an illiterate and backward democracy.

source: http://www.ajijolablog.com/2018/09/buhari-does-not-understand-governance.html Senate President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari does not understand governance and was not prepared to govern the country when he was elected in 2015.Saraki stated this while addressing Oyo State delegates and members of the party ahead of the national convention of the PDP at the state secretariat of the party located at Molete, Ibadan. The former governor of Kwara State, who said that Nigerians made a mistake by voting Buhari in 2015, added that Nigeria needed a “digital President”. Saraki, who was accompanied to Ibadan by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, Senator Abiodun Olujinmi, Captain Idris Wada, Dr. Doyin Okupe and Hon. Muhammed Wakil, declared that incumbent President Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) “does not understand governance”. He noted that the mistake Nigerians have made over the years was electing people into positions of authority based on sentiment. He specifically maintained that Nigeria needed a digital President who can relate well with Presidents of other counties. Saraki, while speaking further, declared that he is the most capable for the job among the PDP Presidential aspirants, urging the Oyo State delegates to support his aspiration. He said, “The major mistake we are making is that we vote people who cannot do it. All other countries, they look for the best candidates. If you look at other aspirants, you will see that I can do it better than all of them. “The mistake we made is that the person who is there does not know anything. The person that is there does not understand governance. “If you have observed, you will discover that Presidents of other counties who have visited Nigeria in recent time did not sleep in the country. They will just come for two or few hours and go back”. The Senate President maintained further that what the country needs in 2019 is a capable President, as Buhari has shown that he is not capable for the task. Saraki insisted that having worked with the President for over three years; he has discovered that the Buhari does not understand governance. Among Oyo PDP leaders that received the Senate President were, State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Kunmi Mystapha; Elder Wole Oyelese; Alhaji Hazeem Gbalarumi; Mr. Wasiu Adeleke; Dr. Saka Balogun and Chief Jacob Adetoro.

source:https://ajijolablog..com/2018/09/robotic-science-education-arc-light.html Arc Light Foundation Academy says it targets to train 21,600 students in Robotic Science before the end of this year with 600 every week from two schools across 36 states of the federation and Abuja benefitting from the curriculum. The foundation’s Managing Director, Mrs Abisola Obasanya, made the disclosure while reflecting on the 2018 World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Nigeria held on Saturday in Lagos in an interview on Monday in Lagos. WRO Nigeria took place at the Lagos City Hall, Lagos Island, where 35 schools and 140 students from across Nigeria participated. The winners of each category will represent Nigeria at WRO, Chiang Mai, Thailand later in November. The students at this year’s competition, tagged: “Food Matters’’ seek to proffer solutions to the way we grow, share and consume food with the aid of robots as a means of providing scientific supports. The task was to create robots that will solve both simple and complex tasks of providing agricultural challenges, such as pest monitoring, watering and simple farm works. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arc Light Foundation, Obasanya, said the 21st century innovations took their roots in robotic science, adding that Nigeria would be better educationally if robotic science would be appreciated. “The world is going digital now and it is all about robotic science. We need to be at par with the knowledge of robots all over the world. “In our own contribution, we want to make sure that the knowledge of robots is popularised all over the country and not Lagos alone because we already have other states appreciating the subject. “As part of the effort, we want to train about 600 students every week from two schools across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, this will give the country an edge technologically,’’ she said. Obasanya said that the programme to train the students in robotic science, tagged “School on Wheel’’ across the country was in partnerships with a private organisation, HIS. “We are in partnerships with IHS in the programme tagged “School on Wheel’’, they will provide the technical support for the robotic training. “We are sure that the students will do well because judging from the past experience, those that are being taught are now good at the practical side of it. “Robotic science provides the platform for students to be engaged in problem solving skills through the use of robots which are easy to operate. “We are excited about the prospect of training the students in robots for the advancement of technology in our country and many will have a lot to benefit from it too,’’ she said. Featuring on Channels Television, Sani said, “Well, I never have a doubt that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the election in 2019, because I believe that there are lots of achievements that could be attached to his stewardship in the last three and half years. “We can also see some challenges and some failures on his side. But on a general note, I believe that those who voted him in 2015 still have hope and belief in him that he can lead them to where they want to be. “And for the opposition party, it is a positive development that you have a lot of people struggling to lead this country. It is interesting. “And the statements they have been making, there is nothing wrong with it. It is just putting the party on its toes.
