This Report in the UK Guardian describes the what I think is a Scam by Fake Pastors preying on the ignorance of poor uneducated folks The big problem with this scam are the victims are kids a lot of them lose their homes or even their lives. "Some parents scrape together sums needed to pay for a deliverance - sometimes as much as three or four months' salary for the average working man - although the pastor will explain that the witch might return and a second deliverance will be needed" Story: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/world/story/0,,2224553,00.html Pictures: http://www.guardian.co.uk/observer/gallery/2007/dec/09/witches?picture=331488389 Video: http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/video/2007/dec/09/video |
It seems it would be a lot less confusing for folks if they just renamed the currency If a few people in this forum are confused about it imagine the average man on the street Imagine explaining your N100 today is worth N1 August 2008 I think most people would get it if they just said we going to have a new currency N100 = 1 Wazobia I guess similar to what the EU did when countries converted to the Euro. As for the impact it should have little to no impact on the average nigerians standard of living or the value of there investments . We just wont need a wheel barrow anymore to cart all that naira around plus the pleasure of of exchange parity with the dollar 1USD = 1.25 Wazobia something we havent enjoyed since the early eighties. |
Well its a start but a whole lot more cleaning house is order. Especially if this is what was really going on in NNPC. "Nigeria's penchant for producing crude oil far in excess of the quota periodically assigned the country by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has been exposed as racket intentionally orchestrated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the oil companies, to enable top officials of NNPC to continously fleece the coountry of several billions of dollars. In fact, documents available to Saturday Sun indicate that between 1999 and 2002 alone, the NNPC officials allegedly diverted over $4.5 billion, smiling to their banks with well over N502.2 billion" Full Article: http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2007/aug/11/national-11-08-2007-001.htm |
