Hello,

I applied for a T4 visa with my spouse and son as dependents 2 months ago. The bank statement needs to be in your name (principal applicant)
If you were applying alone, you could have used your parent's statement but the guidance does not state if this is allowed for applicant's dependents so please use your account.
To answer your questions
1. Your chances of getting the visa are very high if you get the 40 points required i.e have enough cash as required and in the manner stated by the T4 guidance have your CAS, also if you prove to be a genuine student during the interview. Whether or not you and your spouse bear the same surname is irrelevant, just show the marriage certificate you have.
2. The money should be in your account
3. The T4 guidance doesn't require you showing you have ties to your home country. Personally I only submitted my bank statement, pictures of my family and I, TB certificate, ATAS certificate (if required) and my CAS. But if you feel more comfortable submitting your house documents, you can. You can never have too many supporting documents.
4. Employment letter isn't needed.

In summary, if the principal applicant receives his/her visa then your dependents should also be given theirs, except if they previously had some problem with UK immigrations or lie on their application. You should be fine, pls make allowance for fluctuation in exchange rate and make sure you have enough cash as stated in the T4 guidance to cover for your first year tuition and maintenance allowance. Your husband will most likely not be interviewed as only T4 applicants are interviewed. His travel history does not matter as this is a T4 dependent and not for a visitor's visa.
You've done the T4 interview before so you know what to expect.
I wish you the very best.

Dear Justwise and all, am new to naira land but I have been reading and following up on all UK thread. I had my masters in the UK and came back in 2016, got married the same 2016, and then started to work as I saved for my PhD. Now, I applied and got 4 admissions in the UK. Paid a part if my tuition fee.

Now I want to travel with my husband as my dependant. He works as a lecturer in an institute and recently concluded his masters. We have 15million for our bank statement. 5Million for him and 11million for him. I also work. We also have money for our visa processing. I also have a US visa that is still valid to expire next year. He has not travelled before.

We have been together since 2013 but officially started dating in January 2014, truout my stay in the UK we always talked and skyped a lot immediately I came back, we got married.

But our bank statement was given by our both parents. Can my dad show for the both of us or does the money need to be transfered to my own account.

My questions are as follows:

1) What is the chance of us getting the visa (we are not bearing the same surname but we have a court marriage certificate).
2) whose account should the money be in?
3) Do we need to show pictures, house rent receipts, bills, and other things or landed documents to show we have ties?
4) what other ties can we show? Do we need employment letters (for both of us) or what?

My school resumes in October.

Please I need these answers quickly as am about to burst from anxiousness.

I will really appreciate all answers gurus of the house. Thank you.

I collected my passport and visa today and here's my timeline
May 03 Application submitted online
May 08 Biometrics collection and interview
May 08 Application transferred to UKVI
May 11 Application received at UK decision making center
June 5 UKVI escalation
June 8 (10:15am) UKVI response that a decision has been made and my passport will be with me shortly
June 8 (4:56pm) Collection email
June 9 passport collection

Visa was dated from the 4th of June even though my BRP had arrived at my university on the 31st of May.

Ok ma'am

Aphrodite007:

Ok.

My very close friend had a similar problem with UKVI, he even resumed a week after I did but my school followed the matter. Like you said, your school doesnt offer the policy, so you either deal with that or you don’t. I was just telling you what happens in other places.

And Nigerians tolerating bad service is very true. It’s a hofstede theory. We come from an oppressive background where we seldom challenge authority unless we are exposed to the western culture (eg, Nigerians can’t even remove the president, who was placed to serve them!). So stop making emphasis on that. I did say “Nigerians” and to the best of my knowledge, I’m nigerian too.

My initial post was to see if anyone had applied on the same day as me and if they were having any delay in getting their passport back. So I have picked a uni, applied for CAS and applied for a tier 4 visa. I never said the school didn't respond. I said they were not helpful because they stated that uni policy prevents them from corresponding with UKVI regarding T4 visas made outside of the UK. It's great that your university was able to do all of that for you. Mine was not a case of not providing a service because they wanted to be tardy, it was a we don't provide this service due to uni policy. Policies change all the time and this was why I asked someone here what service did his school provide for him and what his school's name was so I could let my uni know. I hope you understand. You saying "Nigerians tolerate bad service" makes me feel like the uni is offering me such poor service (when in fact they don't offer the service) and being the Nigerian that I am, I tolerate it.
Aphrodite007:

If I had a scholarship and all I had to do is pick a uni to study at, I would make them beg me to study in their uni. There’s almost no school I know about that takes longer than 5 working days to respond to you, unless the school is backwards. You are doing hem a favour by picking them to study in their uni, not the other way around so you should be served accordingly.

Unless the school is the one giving you the scholarship, I advise you go to a school that would treat you like a king. So yes, if a school hesistates to respond to you, mail them explaining your displeasure at their service, then look for another school.

I know how my school pampered me throughout, even when I was sick. I had small problem with my housemates and they sent me vouchers and a letter of apology. Even my friend that had problems with UKVI, my school sorted it out immediately! I mean, You are paying money to study, it’s not free, you deserve to be served better! Simple.

They did respond to my enquiry. However, uni policy prevents them from corresponding with UKVI concerning student visa applied for outside of the UK.

LaaJiblik:

It’s really very unusual to hear that a UK school fails to respond to enquiries.
May I suggest you use a computer, check your emails, go to SPAM/Junk folder, and be sure that their reply hasn’t been filtered as SPAM?

Thank you, yes. UKVI said that a decision has actually been made but the system has not been updated and my passport would be returned shortly.

Irenenwaka:

How far any success yet?

Hello Aphrodite007, I understand your concern, however it's unfair for you to respond with "Nigerians are good at tolerating bad customer service" in this situation. What would you have me do? Go to the UK without a visa and demand to speak with someone? Or reject my admission, scholarship and cancel my visa application? The most I can do is send emails and call.
Aphrodite007:

You haven’t even entered the school and they are treating you badly, when you become a full blown student, what would happen? Nigerians are very good at tolerating bad customer service. It is well with your studies.

Thank you, pls what's the name of your uni? And could you tell me what your case was and how the int'l office helped. I'm asking because my uni's (BCU) int'l office hasn't been helpful, if I can mail them and let them know what type of service other universities are offering their int'l student, that may help. I've already requested that UKVI escalate the case.

damoche64:
Send email to the school international office to help you escalate the issue. I was in your shoe sometimes in March.

Pls did anyone else do their biometrics for a tier 4 application on the 8th of May and has now received their passport? Mine has exceeded 15 working days (exclusive of all UK holidays) and it has not ticked the decision made section even though DX delivery sent me an email that my BRP has been delivered to my Uni. I called the UKVI customer care line and I was told that it also shows that decision has not been made.

If you mean time of the year, that should be between October and May when there arent a lot of rush from tier 4 visa applicants looking to resume in September/October. Their office hours for testing is 7:30 till 11:30 so maybe try the earlier booking slots as you will not have to wait too long.
Your TB test certificate is given to you on the same day and you will attach it to your application.

Their immigration website states that online statements have to be stamped on all pages or a letter of authenticity provided. Is this not required for bank accounts domiciled in the UK?
spikesC:

Since October 2017, UK banks no longer provide in branch nor stamped statements for visa purposes. Just print off online and submit it.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by akfaa: 8:03pm On Mar 06, 2018
Pls did you apply from the UK or Nigeria?
LaaJiblik:

I submitted printed copies of my Barclays online statements in December. My wife and son (dependents ) are currently inside the room; they said the Beast from the East will kill them if they step out.

Go for it!
You are Good to go.

Studentship is sweet my sister.

Besides, you can ask your bank to send youu weekly account statements close to the date, to also include alongside the online printed statements .

Thanks to everyone that answered this question I posted. I contacted my bank in the UK and they stated that they will neither stamp the bank statements nor provide a letter of authenticity. I would have collected my ad hoc statement but I am in Nigeria now. Is there any suggestion on what else to do?

akfaa:
I recently completed my MSc in the UK in November 2017. I was offered a studentship at another university in the UK for my PhD and I am hoping to start on May. My husband and son are applying as dependants so we need to have maintenance money for them as the studentship does not cover this. The maintenance money is in my UK account which I opened while I was in the UK. My questions are these
1. Can I use this UK account? The account is in my name but my tier 4 visa expired in January
2. Can I print an online statement and request a letter of authenticity from the bank, this is allowed under the UKVI policy, but is there any one who has done this and was successful?
3. Can I submit a stamped statement from the bank (which will be a scanned copy)

I am not very sure how to go about this. Pls I need your advice.

Thank you.

You can get the $300 ticket from the virgin Atlantic booking site, it was a total of about 270k plus taxes in naira for a return ticket, but its only available on some selected dates due to availability. Are you travelling soon? Try 28th of September, its available on that date, but just check around your proposed travel date. The promo might be available or might not be.
