BusinessRe: The Customer Service Name And Shame Thread by akinjide(m): 8:53pm On Aug 23, 2011
The bad
Arik Air - the people were racist funniest part was they were Nigerians! The caucasians in LHR were even more polite. They flew us to Abuja first with no forehand warning just a quick chirp when we got to checkin. The return journey was even worse, they allowed whites and indians to walk to the front of the line even though I was travelling in business with my sons, to make it even funnier they said the white ingrates were first staff then they said they were flying business class then first only for me to see them in the back. I hope they go Under, Nigerian or not they dont respect their customers.
The Place (GRA Ikeja) ; Horrible customer service, the girls in the club/bar area feel they are doing you a favour selling you beer at 3 times the cost the least they could do is sell with a smile or a better attitude. Its not mu fault theyre swollen bellied and silly looking they should either play the part or part ways. The owner seems to have his own corner where his fat bellied friends sit hence they get grade 1 attention and make noise while the rest of us are served only when the bar girls have time.
BA: Im british/Nigerian but the LOS-LHR-LOS route is the worst ever!

Thats all I remember, shame because I know theyve done me bad almost everywhere in this town!

PoliticsRe: Relocation To Nigeria From The Uk 2011. Am I Mad Or Is It Possible ? by akinjide(m): 8:30am On Dec 31, 2010
I moved to Nigeria in November and I got a job with a package equivalent to £95000 UK and my wife too got something really good., it is up to what you bring in terms of qualifications and what you have done with your past (experience etc).
Nigeria is not as bad as people say. My kids are enjoying the attention of their grandparents and the fact they can swim, play football and do loads of things health and safety and other funny PC rules in the UK had deprived them of for years.
Dude the decision is personal make it based on your circumstances and views. also take the advice if you have property in the UK rent it out using an agency dont give to friends etc otherwise youre asking for trouble.

goodluck.

Science/TechnologyNew Website Servicing Lagos: Lagevents "www.lagevents.com by akinjide(op): 10:41pm On Apr 01, 2010
Hi guys

Im what you might call a passive member of the house.
I have for a while now been working on a web project depicting Lagos State and Events in Lagos. It features hotels, bars clubs and the likes and it is all for free. It is not a money making venture just a project I have been meaning to do for a while now since I have been on an enforced holiday.
The website is "www.lagevents.com" and it is free to post your business be it an event hall, a bar, a club or a Service provision (catering, supplying drinks, Photography, Vehicle hire, name it)
I hope people here will take up the offer as free is a really good deal in my honest opinion smiley, contact me via email (info@lagevents.com) and I would (considering you can prove your business exists, provide photos and contact details) get in contact with you, do a preview and put your business name in lights, or on the web as things are.

Hope you guys have a great Easter!

How much data do you need to migrate daily/weekly?
What equipment do you have on both ends?
Do you have any software sync that you may be considering to use on say media servers on both ends to facilitate the connection to use latent bandwidth to sync files?

I build networks for high net companies and for security organizations, also am part owner of a WiSP in Ikeja servicing computer village and the Adeniyi Jones ares, Ill see if theres an easy fix for you, might be able to help cos we do send large work files back and forth (50GB and above) for some outsourcing jobs from Lagos to London) and we use latent bandwidth to do it

ComputersRe: I Need An ISP That Is Reliable And Very Fast by akinjide(m): 8:32am On Apr 11, 2007
I know someone who has paid for Swift Broadband and suffered for it. Swift Broadband may claim to be good but their service and customer service is poor and unbecoming of what they advertise.

That Speedboat of theirs has surely turned to a canoe!

Call 08022122229, tell them youre interested in teh HOP-Online internet service, its a new company subscriber units are about 15000 Naira and service is 7500 monthly for 24/7 service. Amazing to believe but they are awesome and are located within Adeniyi Jones axis. Close to the Agege/Oba Akran end.

ComputersRe: I need a Internet connection by akinjide(m): 3:33pm On Oct 18, 2005
truth about shared internet depends on whose telling the truth rolleyes, were setting up a WISP in ikeja for companies and individuals and I work for a company in the UK handling the project.
Most companies usually need just a basic always on internet connection nothing fancy but the problem is usually slow surfing due to connectivity and port attacks which take up all the upload space. if you work with a properly setup ISP and get even 10kbps/8kbps per system youll do just fine for downloading email, I had a satellite phone/data system in Lagos a while back that did just about that and I enjoyed it more than some cybercafes trust me. I have a 2mb/2mb DSL (and I mean proper DSL) at home in essex and until I locked down the whole network I did not realize how much madness you get exposed to once your on a public exposed internet.
Best bet for Nigeria ISPs get a proper network manager and someone who knows exctly what theyre doing, also issue out only private IPs and block all access for everything from source then maybe some people can manage to speak highly of your service!
