Crime / Nigerian Man Cries Out After Mistakenly Transferring N1m To An Uber Driver by akinjuly77(m): 10:51pm On Nov 17, 2018
A Nigerian man is in pains, after he mistakenly transferred N1m to an Uber driver as payment for a trip recently.

According to the Nigerian man,the money he transferred to the Uber driver was part payment for a family member who is battling a life threatening disease at the hospital.

He wrote

Help!!! I Mistakenly Sent N1m To A Uber Driver

Please read carefully before commenting

I have a very serious issue that has been a pain on my neck and I will try as much as I can to summarize everything

I sent a sum of N1m to a Uber taxi driver’s account number on the 20th October,2018. This money was a part payment bill for one of my family members who is battling with a life-threatening health issues. That happened about 4 weeks ago.

This is how the whole thing happened

A friend of mine paid me a courtesy visit and when he was about leaving,I used my rider app to request a ride for him and the driver came and took him to his destination. He told my friend the estimated cost of the fare was N4,800 but my friend didn’t even bother to check because he felt he probably would not lie about it.

My friend called and told me the fare was N4,800 and I requested for the Uber taxi driver’s account number after which I made the payment. The next day (20th October),I needed to make a transaction of N1m to someone for a part payment bill of my family member’s treatment oblivious of the fact that I actually made the payment to the Uber taxi driver’s account number. This was because I added him in my beneficiary when I wanted to make the payment.

I went to the rider app to get his contact, only for me to realize he actually inflated the fare from N3,400 to N4,800 which I literally paid for. You can see he’s not an honest person but I wasn’t really bothered about that.

I called and pleaded to him to refund the 1m I sent to his account. At first,he acted as if he didn’t receive any money but after series of calls,he later confirmed it. I sent my account details to him and he promised to refund me on Monday as it was weekend.

Monday came and the dude started acting funny. He would pick my calls and remain silent. There were times he gave the phone to a lady to talk to me. Sometimes he yelled at me to stop disturbing him,and a point,he even stopped picking my calls

I mailed Uber and narrated everything that transpired. They responded requesting for evidence to back up my claim which I provided. I took screenshots of the first (inflated fare) and second payment and attached it to my massage. They responded telling me I should exercise patience and that they will look into my issue

It’s been 4 weeks now and Uber has been lackadaisical towards this issue. I have messaged them several times and they seem to be less concerned about it.
With the way Uber has been acting towards this issue, one could conclude that they’re trying to cover up this guy. Someone that can easily call and resolve this issue.

They have just been acting like they’re more concerned about their own pockets than customer’s satisfaction. I expect them to have taken up the issue for properly investigation despite providing solid evidence.

Please everyone! I have tried and I’m already fed up. Their customer care is my last resort but they have been nonchalant despite knowing the name, vehicle type, and license plate number of someone working for them. Even the Uber driver in question has failed to refund the money and has been avoiding me.

I went to the bank recently and his account has been frozen but I haven’t been able to get my money

This country is just messed up. Even the police aren’t helping matters. They are demanding their own share of about 150k

Attached is

2. Chat with uber
3. Proof of 3400 as exact tfare
4. Proof of 1m transfer to the uber driver

Crime / Pretty Nigerian Lady In Trouble After A Man She Met On Facebook Sent ₦5million I by akinjuly77(m): 4:06pm On Nov 12, 2018
A police officer has taken to social media to enlighten Nigerians on the newest trick being used by fraudsters on unsuspecting victims. Ogbonnaya Nwota, revealed that a young lady simply identified as Amaka,is currently in police custody after she was involved in a fraud case of N5 million which was paid into her account by a “good Samaritan” from Facebook who later rewarded her with N100,000.

Read below what the detective shared on Facebook;

She went down on her knees as she was ushered into my office, weeping uncontrollably, she muttered,‘Officer, please, help me. I need your help. Yes,I acted stupidly, but I didn’t do it’. Having comported herself,I demanded to know her story regarding a case of fraud of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira) I was investigating.

Amaka,33,tall,elegant,hippy and busty,a young graduate in Owerri,is an active netizen of social media. She belongs to many Facebook groups. On one of the groups, the Admin on a Sunday morning asked members to post their account details,as someone maybe touched to ‘do Sunday’ for them. Different account details flowed ceaselessly on the group’s platform and few confessed how some hitherto unknown persons have credited their accounts.

Amaka got a chat up from someone who promised to send money to her the following day being Monday. The duo chatted for about 15 minutes on Facebook with the man bragging how money wasn’t his problem but a good lady to spend it on. They ended up booking an appointment to see each other the following day since both of them stay in same city.

Both kept to the time of their appointment and in a few minutes, ordered for food in an exquisite eatery where the meeting was taken place. The guy re-emphasized how wealthy a man he is to Amaka and promised to see her more often, when he returns from his intended overseas trip.

The guy was glued to his phone and ipad, pressing them interchangeably and smiling intermittently at no one in particular. As they were about to leave,he told Amaka to expect an alert of N50,000 from him and while he was paying the bills for their order,Amaka got an alert of N5,000,000 (Five Million naira),which she didn’t notice initially was N5,000,000 until when the guy asked her to recheck the alert she got, telling her that he mistakenly transferred 5M instead of 50k as promised.

Both headed to the bank in the guy’s car. He told Amaka to withdraw the entire 5M from the bank, pay whatever charges and hand over the cash to him. He as well upgraded Amaka’s cash gift to 100k. Amaka who was already elated dashed into the bank, while the guy sat comfortably in his car outside the bank premises. About 30 minutes later,Amaka was back in the guy’s car and handed over the cash to him, having collected her N100k. She was dropped off few minutes after and she boarded a taxi to her house with indescribable happiness written over her face. What a day she exclaimed as she opened the door to her house. No not allowed,no request for not allowed,no touch,no even a hug and she was given N100K. It was simply unbelievable to her.

A week later Amaka was at her bank’s ATM to withdraw some cash, but the card got trapped. She went into the bank to lodge a complaint and possibly retrieve her card, but instead of giving her the card, she was handed over to the Police and that was how she was brought to my office.

Police investigations linked Amaka’s bank account to a sum of Five Million naira moved from a certain company’s account that was hacked into by some fraudsters.

Investigation is ongoing, but until Amaka produces the guy she alleged transferred the said money to her,of course whose Facebook is no longer in existence and phone number inactive and the guy also admits to have made the said transfer to Amaka,Amaka will definitely be contesting her innocence in the court of law, where she will be charged for fraud.

Times are perilous,my people. The criminals are obviously getting wiser and you must remain vigilant in order not to be tacitly involved in a crime you know nothing about. Secure your account details and report to the Police if you receive any suspicious credit alert.

Learn from the mistakes of others.

Three months ago - August 2018 - the lawyer turned singer had threatened to sue the NBC,if the body fails to lift the ban of his song,'This is Nigeria'.

In a report by Concaholic, according to the court documents filed through Falz’s lawyers,Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law),on November,6,2018,the President of the sweet Boys Association queried NBC's claims that the song is laced with vulgar lyrics.

In August 2018,the NBC had sent a letter to JODAJ Global Communications Limited in Jos sanctioning them for playing Falz’s song,“This Is Nigeria” and banning the song from being played on radio, along with other songs.

In the letter sent to JODAJ Global Communications Limited,NBC stated that the reason for banning 'This Is Nigeria' is that the lyrics are vulgar and in contravention of the NBC Code.

Here is what Falz told the court about his issue with NBC
The Originating Summons reveals that Falz is seeking, among other things, for:

1. A declaration that the Defendant’s prohibition of the Plaintiff’s song titled “This Is Nigeria” from being aired by the Nigerian media outfits on the pretext that same is laced with vulgar lyrics is in flagrant breach of the Plaintiff’s right to the freedom of thought, conscience and expression as guaranteed under Sections 38 and 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999 (as amended) and to that extent, such prohibition is unconstitutional, null and void.

Falz threatens legal action if NBC fails to lift ban on song,'This is Nigeria'
Falz has threatened to seek legal redress if the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission fails to lift the ban on his song,This is Nigeria.

"I am going to have to write to them through my lawyers to find out what is really going on. When I find out the reason behind the ban,I could ask them to lift it if need be and if they do not adhere to my request,I might have to seek legal redress," the rapper and actor told Punch.

Falz maintains that the song, which seems to be the butt of controversy since its release,is socially conscious music that talks about the current situation of Nigerians in Nigeria.

"If they ban this song, then I do not understand them because that song is definitely not a vulgar song,” he said.

Continuing,Falz said “There is absolutely nothing vulgar about the song and I think it is ridiculous that the Nigerian Broadcast Commission singled out the least vulgar line in the song and ascribed it to be the reason they banned the song. It is a very simple and clean song."

following the release of the video for 'This is Nigeria' by Falz earlier in June, the Muslim group had issued Falz with a seven day ultimatum to withdraw the song or face legal actions.

The group subsequently withdrew the ultimatum following widespread reactions from the public. News however emerged on Thursday,August 9th,that the NBC have placed a ban on the song and the group has now regained its voice.

In a statement released by the group director Ishaq Akintola,on Monday,August 13,the group admits to having sent a petition to the NBC to place ban on the song.
