It is laughable for Prof. Wole Soyinka; a well-respected Statesman to demystify the grandeur of his personality on the basis of “standing on the side of truth” one too many times, on utterly whimsical state of affairs in Rivers state. It is astonishing that such a man with seeming repute for knowledge and wisdom in socio-political affairs of Nigeria can no longer differentiate between personal attacks and elderly advice to our nation state. Personal attacks in the sense that in a fray where Patience seems to be one of too many male players in the Rivers state crisis, Prof. Soyinka singled out the first lady to trash. Amaechi, who ordered the violent maiming of another Honourable member is yet berated by our selective elder statesman “Wole Soyinka”. More so, as an elder statesman, his advice should have played a key role towards uniting warring factions than dividing Nigerians who may or may not have qualms with the utterances of the “Mad Old Professor -MOP” (Tweet by Dictator’s Daughter,July, 2013). Without remorse, the MOP went ahead to reiterate his earlier statement which brought about criticism of his perceived chauvinistic statement against the Girl Child and the Nigerian Woman. In the MOP’s own words “People said I call her a domestic appendage, what’s the problem with that? What’s the problem with Madam Shepopotamus? The questions yet unanswered are: Who were Wole Soyinka’s wives? What were their experience as wives and mothers whilst being a domestic appendage to the MOP. Why do they all share a common history of being married and divorced to the “Mad Old Professor”? The deliberate attempt by the MOP to do the cleaning of dirty politics played through his demeaning conjectural use of words against the first lady is very unbecoming of statesman. Indeed, the fickleness is worrisome. In an already divided entity such as ours, where ethnicity, religion and regions play a huge role in our political views, the MOP has added a new twist of sexism and thoughtless fancy utterances in order to satisfy his benefactors. In my opinion, his lend voice so far, has been more entertaining than making any positive impact on the society. The correlation between the first lady’s actions and her physical attributes are two different issues but in the quest for buzzy headlines and less about being a father to warring factions, the MOP has demonstrated that he cannot be taken more seriously than the words associated to him. It takes a He-popotamus to know a She-popotamus. |
WildChild00: What is the name of this CULTIgnoramus |
5columnist: Lion indeed not even a tiger.Tiger that calls someone's wife a shepopotamus? |
slap1: To PEJ's recent 'paroles': uncordinated, bullish, over-zealous and destructive. That's how a he or "sheppopotamus" actually behaves in reality. And how do you define Soyinka? A mad old professor or what? He doesn't even know when to stop. Effectively, he has felt the backlash from NIgerians, this is the reason why he is trying to justify his utterances but the more he tries, the more he will be eaten up by this mess. |
Lol but no lol. He keeps making my point that he is a chauvinist. He can't even see it because that is the world he knows. Ameachi and Soyinka are members of same cult so that explains why he will continually stand with him. |
Tiger in its true essence

Pussycat in tiger cloak
|
This question has become necessary; judging from the times he deems it fit to talk. Tolling in lagos was never addressed by him, He begged Gani to subtle back when Gani took certificate forgery claims against Tinubu to court and many other instances. Does Wole speak when he believes an opinion is a popular opinion that will make him look good or speak when it is morally right to do so? If the former is the case, he cannot be anything else than a pussycat in a tigers cloak and if the latter is the case, he can't be anything less than a statesman. Hit likes for pussycat or tiger depending on what you think. This is a poll? |
BP: Where was Wole Soyinka....Gba!!!! WS is just another pussycat in tiger cloak. |
Obama should never come to Africa to moralize us on what is right or wrong. Stupid two faced country. Country of laws indeed... |
1. How did Soyinka badmouth his motherland? 2. Who paid him to do it? Infact, who paid her to write what she wrote? One day, she'll pay for the sins of her father. Did she not enjoy from his embezzlement?
Una too like money matter... Lol. Much as I don't think she has the moral standing to lash out at Soyinka, must we think she got paid or laid to do so. No them get money pass?....lol na wah o. Smh!!! |
texaco1: It is really disheartening to see how low some members of nairaland can descend to in rational thinking ,all just in a bid to ridicule mr president. Fela is still alive and lives in Aso Rock with Jonah...lol |
franchizy: I'm suprise dat many Nairalanders ve still not realize dat GEJ is d best president Nigeria ve ever had. He has painstakingly transformed all d sectors in d country. Good roads, model Airports, enhanced seaports, good medical facilities, improved our universities infrastructures,Local and overseas scholarships, created more than 50million jobs, d only president to conduct a free and fair election, d only president wit no investment, a humble and tolerating president. Wat else do I say.Guys don't want to admit it. They accuse others on what they do to keep Musiwa's searching satellite off them. ACN is a media warrior party championed by Tinubu. He bought sahara for peanuts andSeun may have fallen victim too. It is sad. |
deor03: So, you need to travel all the way to Abuja to post on the web?lol... isn't it senseless? Anything goes on nairaland. |
ado ok: In a bid to counter the bad image of the government in the social media, various youths are being setup, lodged and fed for the purpose of using the internet to manufacture public opinion in favour of the state.the are to simulate, forge public opinion in support of the president.some of the internet savvy youths are being lodged at sigma apartments . wuseYou can lie sha. In your bid to nail Jonah, you all realized that there is still a base of believers and now you are making frantic effort to consign some of us who beleive something good ishappening in Nigeria to your 40 laptop theory ... Disclaimer before you all start: I am not a 40 laptop guy. We need to begin to judge Gej fairly. This explains why are tackle baseless allegations towards him. The truth: this rubbish will make front page. |
Stai Boi collecting blessings from elders while others are rushing out to go international for cheap publicity. This Jiaye Boy is home grown. At 23 he is this wise. Respect to the smart young dude. |
![]() Eko Ile: You have zero morale authority so talk about thread derailment since derailing threads with bigotry and tribalism everyday your favorite pastime. ![]() |
Garri the 1st: She's not married and I'm not married too.Bro she is married. Her husband fine lose hope. |
ibrahym47: Northerner get sense while Τ̲̅ђέ rest ؃ 9ja r bloody noise maker. There is somthing behind ΨђåƮ visit bt you and I are too busy with the insult game rather dan analysing the situation. They are helping Ameachi drown. What sense is in that? A healthy part has been struck by them and Jonathan. |
sexkillz: Nairaland is a discussion forum. People from different locations around Nigeria and beyond, visit here to discuss the latest events and current affairs. You are biased. Based on the foregoing assertions, why is that any rebuttal or post that tends to respond to some of the negative unverified posts are left in the dump of politics section. You guys need to clean up your act. As a moderator, you ought to be unbiased and allow people form am opinion on informed views. Unfortunately that is not the case. For the sake of argument, why don't you put this particular post scrutinizing your moderating skills to the front page and see the response. It is pathetic and sad. |
Shameless unproductive governors. You now leave your duty post and come to another to order your president to remove Mbu.. Na wah o. |
vizboy: Lmao cant stop laughing these sh1ttt is really funny ![]() |
Delafruita: the honourable justices of the federal high court in abuja made it clear in atiku's case that that clause only applies to the election.after election, elected officials can switch to other parties without any consequence.ohakim left ppa for pdp, same with orji in abia.yuguda also left to pdp and so on.this is a non-issueHow about the three years term - unfinished tenure and went ahead to contest a new election. He is currently in court with Omeha. |
Peinstein: Are you the first lady's nairaland publicist, all your recent threads have been mostly about Soyinka and Patience directly and indirectly. It's getting boring bro, you are getting predictable.Nope... |
hardywaltz: I still maintain my stand that Nairaland if filled with unintelligent children.your opinion will go a long way without being insulting. Why are you levied? precedence are precedence. What is good for an individual, is good for another. Why are you worked up? |
OBAGADAFFI: His suspension from PDP won't affect his governorship. But that was the premise on which he took power; that the PDP won the election which Omeha contested, thus he argued that the people voted for the party and not the individual. So if the people voted for the party and not the individual, now that he is suspended, don't you agree that the party can go ahead an exercise their mandate alternatively? |
draogtech: A team of Northern governors on a solidarity visit to Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, have asked the Inspector General of Police to immediately redeploy the Commissioner of Police in the state, Joseph Mbu, over what they described as his unprofessionalism and political partisanship in the multiple crises rocking the state. So the north is so peaceful now that rivers state has become a place of concern to these guys ![]() |
Moderators are pro Ameachi, so it only a wishful thinking for you to think it wl hit front page. |
duality: I never thought of this until now. Well, I'm not a lawyer But this is serious. Has Amaechi considered this angle? It is a quagmire for him. So many weaknesses yet he decided to fight a sitting President. Another angle is that Omeha asked a competent court to interpret the implication of Ameachi re-contesting elections when he hasn't completed his first tenure; which was three yeas gone before 2011. Constitutionally, Ameachi aired. Thus all these loop holes re amzing options the party and other stakeholders can explore. |
Sometimes I am amazed at the level of ignorance and id.iocy of some posters on this forum. What is the essence of the rubbish above? Is the presidency now a traditonal kingship? You people need to rid yourselves of these slavery mentality. This is democracy and not a monarchy! In a saner clime, when a male or female president, prime minister or a head of government is in charge, the partner does not get publicly involved in the affairs of the state, so as not to whittle down the respect accorded that leader. I'm sure you are trying to defend the criminal behaviour of your SHAME or is it DAME JONATHAN? You people are just getting more ridiculous day by day. Nonsense
Can you open your mind and answer the simple question... Defend Patience for what? I am questioning the morality behind Soyinka referring to the office of the first lady as a mere domestic appendage. It can be any other woman tomorrow. |
ogb5: Nigeria laws have many loopholes and many court rulings can be interpreted in several ways.Ameachi should simply seek peace. It is dire to lose your mandate and then flee or deal with EFCC. So since it was applied in his instance, it can play out again. |
