A mother has been arrested in Umuahia after she set her teen son on fire because he stole an MP3 from a neighbour.

14-year-old Prince Odum, of Amuzukwu Ibeku in Abia state, had his hands tied by his mother Chinyere Odum after she found out that he stole from a neighbour. She then doused him with kerosene and set him on fire

Chinyere, a mother of three, is reportedly known to be abusive towards her kids. According to neighbours, she’s been known to flog Prince, who is her only son, with fire wood.

Prince suffered horrible burns all over his body and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Umuahia. But the hospital is ill equipped to handle his injuries so plans are being made to have him transferred to UNTH in Enugu state.

In spite of his injuries, witnesses say that when Prince saw his mother being questioned by the police, he broke down in tears and took the blame. He told officers it was his fault and pleaded with them to release his mother. He also promised his mother that he would never do wrong again.

A whole new perspective has been given into why the Nigerian military annulled the June 12 election which saw MKO Abiola emerge clear winner.

A former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, who was the National Secretary of the defunct Social Democratic Party, speaks about the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

He has this to say when asked about the major reason why the Military annulled the Election:

“When (General) Murtala (Muhammed) died, Abiola came in with a claim that he was owed, I think, about N45bn for contracts executed by International Telephone and Telecommunication for the Ministry of Communications.

The military high command at that time said no. He went round the Emirs in the North to lobby and the emirs asked that they (military) should please pay the money.”

“They (military) said they cancelled the June 12 elections because if they made him President, he would take his money and the country will become bankrupt. Those who were close to Abacha should know this, because Abacha was then one of the big shots; they were all aware.”

A young woman who was reportedly sharing another woman’s matrimonial bed with her has been killed with her body displayed on the road side.

A lady identified as Ada Ezeudo has been killed by someone suspected to be her lover’s wife.

The incident happened yesterday in Ifitedunu, Anambra state. The body of the deceased, from Mgbuke Umunnachi, was found along a road and a short note was found beside her corpse.

A five-year-old girl died of suffocation in a car on Monday after being left in the locked vehicle for hours at her school in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
A teacher picked up the pupil identified as Kabinta Kehphuang from her home in the morning to take her to school because the kindergarten’s bus was out of order.

However, she forgot the child was in the car when she arrived at the school and locked her car. She only remembered the child was still in the vehicle when she returned to her car after classes finished at 4.30pm.
A post mortem by the district hospital found that the girl died of suffocation as the car was left in sunlight throughout the day with all the windows closed.

The female teacher, whose name was withheld, teaches at Ban Cham Phuthong Kindergarten in Moo 1 village in Tambon Huay Muang in Phupha Man district.


The district chief, Phayung Lekdee, said the teacher picked up the girl from her home but somehow forgot her when she reached the school.

The teacher was in shock, the district chief added.

A woman who has been missing since Thursday was found dead inside a python on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.

The incident occurred on June 14, 2015 when 54-year-old Wa Tiba went to check her garden. By Friday morning, Wa Tiba was not yet home, so residents and police went in search of her.

Local media reported today that villagers and authorities in Southeast Sulawesi province found the woman’s belongings but didn’t see her.

They eventually found a python that was so swollen and couldn’t move so they suspected it might have swallowed her.

“The villagers who were suspicious brought the python back to the village and cut it open. She was found dead inside the snake with the body intact,” local police chief Agus Ramos said.

The Dean, School of Foundation Studies, University of Africa (UAT), Toru-Orua, Prof. Prince Efere, has been reportedly found dead in his office.
The Nation reports that the academician who is a United Kingdom-trained scholar, was found lifeless in his office by his colleagues after he failed to turn up for a meeting.

Some of his friends who confirmed the unfortunate incident said he was found resting his head on his office table.

Efere was appointed Acting Rector of Bayelsa State Institute of Tourism Catering and Hotel Management by the former state Governor Seriake Dickson, following the formal passage and signing into law of the bill establishing the school in 2013.

In 2017, Efere, who held two doctorate degrees in Health Services Management and Education from two Central American Universities, was made Dean of the newly established UAT.

Photos of a Nigerian woman who lives in Texas has been circulating online as the woman who jumped into the lagoon beneath Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday.

The woman, named Toyin, has now refuted the rumors by sharing recent photos of herself via her Instagram account.
Meanwhile, In a telephone conversation , the woman said that her husband who drove the car on the said day (Sunday) didn’t jump into the Lagoon, stressing that he parked the Ford car by the Bridge to offer help.

The woman said she and her husband are living well and happily and have no cause to consider suicide.


She said her husband has reported what transpired at the Bridge to the appropriate government authorities.

However, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Tuesday dismissed trending video clip of a woman who allegedly parked her SUV Ford Explorer and jumped into the lagoon at the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The agency also confirmed that the owner of the Jeep was just a good Samaritan who only stopped by to offer assistance.


LASEMA also dismissed all speculations over the incident, saying investigation still continues by relevant agencies of government.

LASEMA General Manager, AdesinaTiamiyu in a statement today said, “The attention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has been drawn to a video clip on social media in respect of a woman who supposedly packed an SUV Ford Explorer and jumped into the Lagoon at the 3rd Mainland Bridge on Sunday 10th July, 2018.

Earlier, a Facebook user claimed the woman had jumped into Third Mainland Bridge because her husband found out about an affair she was carrying out with a Nigerian-based man and when he did a DNA test on all three of his kids he found out none was his.

The Anambra State police command has arrested the man that stabbed his daughter to death in her sleep, last week, in Osikwu village Awgbu.
Oyinye Aguluka was only 24 hours away from becoming a wife when death struck her tragically. Oyinye was allegedly stabbed to death in bed by her own father in the early hours of Thursday.



The Nation reports that the suspect, Cletus Aguluka, 60, was arrested by members of the community’s vigilance group while trying to flee the village moments after committing the offence.



Giving an account of the incident, mother of the deceased, Georgina, said the suspect returned home late on Thursday looking drunk. He asked for his torch from his children, none of whom gave him a satisfactory answer about its whereabouts.



The household thought it was all over and everybody went to bed. “We thought he had forgotten about the torch until he woke up around 1 o’clock in the night, went inside his room and brought out a machete and stabbed Onyinye who was fast asleep,” Georgina said.
