What is the point of having infrastructure without employing civil servants who are well paid to provide basic services and common utilities for everyone?
Thanks for your response. I read the news you posted and below is an excerpt from the article:
"The NUT-FCT accused the area councils of reneging on previous agreements to implement the national minimum wage and pay associated allowances."

It's all about agreements which predate Wike's appointment as FCT minister. Infact, one of the officials said Wike had to intervened in late 2024 for them to call off the strike before they embarked on another one.

Do other governors have federal airports and seaports as well as other infrastructure that Lagos has due to its being the federal capital territory from 1914?

Do other governors have the revenue that Lagos has, due to its high population? Is this not the case for London, New York and other cities that are commercial and/or administrative capitals of countries, whether developed or not?
When Jagaban increased Lagos' revenue from 600million to billions of naira from 1999. What were other other governors doing then? SS states were receiving same or more allocations than Lagos state plus 13% plus royalties.
What did SS states do with all these huge revenues. In terms of population; Lagos and other SW states are friendly and accommodating; hence the environment is conducive for business. Do you expect people to do business in hostile environment?
The port in Lagos is a blessing no doubt but if the managers of Lagos are squanders like other state managers, Lagos state will not be where it is now.
Is this the first time Abuja will have a minister? Look at the infrastructures Wike is putting in place which in turn is attracting investments. Now Abuja has surpassed Lagos on capital importation recently. Governors should think outside the box and you citizens that you are supposed to hold them accountable should stop making excuses for them because Lagos was the former FCT bla bla bla.

this is not about any state government sitting up. lagos is the only state in nigeria that has a seaport in a country heavily reliant on importation, hence most buisiness/industries will choose to situate in lagos/ogun state environs close to lagos due to nearness of raw materials and products imported.

there are about 2 or 3 other states in the south south that is capable of having a seaport but due to political reasons it will not happen because it weakens the power of the southwest region which is heavily reliant on the city of lagos and strengthens the autonomy of the south south which is already the breadwinner of the country as is. so forget it bro, there's nothing special about lagos governors/leadership, they simply enjoy a unique privilege, due to that SEAPORT mainly plus being the first capital of the country, hence many industries established there already
What happened to Onne port? Keep over flogging this port issue.

Demand is actually more than supply. Overpopulation in Lagos is really a major factor of this pandemic. Everybody wants to Japa to Lagos. Other state governors should sit up. Abuja is also experiencing similar situation.
Lack of job availability in urban areas of other states

Exactly. I was about to say this. One of Obi supporters on twitter said infrastructures doesn't contribute to economic growth. I can't even remember if I screenshot the werey comment. Look at the massive infrastructure wike is doing in Abuja, tell me why investors will not go there.
I don't know why they always give excuse that it's because of being former federal capital.

This is so ignominious… why is the FG always putting the cart before the horse.

How many low income housing projects are currently ongoing in Nigeria?
Why not build the houses and then offer a convenient mortgage.
Let’s do the math, a 200k salary earner/ family man, wants a modest apartment in a decent environment in Abuja.
The apartment costs 30m spread over 20 years with an interest of about 3m bringing the loan to 33m

He’s down payment might be 20% of the cost of the house = 6m
He’s monthly payback is 68,750, (bal; 131,250) how is he to survive?
Will he continue to receive 200k all through the 20 years?

Nefort:
Lagos state may be getting the same allocation like other states but other states don't have the available resources to increase their IGR like Lagos did. Lagos is a wealthy state so increasing IGR is not rocket science. Other states in Nigeria don't have the wealth that Lagos has.

I am glad you mentioned that Yorubas and other settlers developed Lagos. Which means it is the combined effort of Nigerians. Every ethnic group in Nigeria invested heavily in Lagos. But many Yorubas make it sound like only Yorubas developed Lagos.
So from your last paragraph; advocate for the indigenes of other states to be friendly and accommodating like lagosians so that people can flock into their states and develop them just like Lagos state. Indigenes can't be hostile to visitors and expect them to stay and contribute to the development of that state. So that is why Yorubas are referred to as 'Omoluabi'.

Yea, Lagos is a wealthy state because of the crop of governors it has produced. From mere 600 million naira in 1999. Thanks to Jagaban and his predecessors! You can check what oil producing states are collecting as IGR and 13% derivations and royalties. If those states managers are wise and prudent, they ought to be doing exploits like Lagos state!

Thanks for your time bro.
Enjoy the rest of your night bro and remember to vote for Jagaban come 2027!!!

Lagos has always been a hotspot since the colonial master's arrived Nigeria and it became a larger city after it became Nigeria's capital city for many decades. Being Nigeria's capital city for many years is enough to pull in heavy investments same as what is happening to Abuja today. Whatever Lagos is today has little to do with Tinubu or other ex-governors. The governors of Lagos simply inherited an already developed large city and they now claim they are the ones who built it from scratch.
Thanks for your civil response bro. Was the whole of Lagos state developed by FG or just part of Lagos which is Lagos island?
Yorubas aren't happy with the way some of you are distorting history.
Lagos island was the seat of power then, and federal government only developed that part and part of Yaba, Ebute-metta and some part of costain towards surulere.
Tinubu came and raised the state IGR followed by all successful governors. With this IGR they were able to construct and rehabilitate existing roads, established LAWMA, LAMATA, BRT, Blue line, Red line and some other infrastructures in Lagos. Lagos health care and Lagos civil service remains the best in the whole of Nigeria.
the managers of Lagos state has to do all this with federal government allocations that all other states are collecting and IGR. Don't forget that Calabar was once a capital.
Saying the governors didn't do anything shows you are biased.
And you said something, that Lagos has been a hotspot when the colonial masters arrived. Not Only when they arrived, infact before they arrived. Yorubas and other settlers in Lagos has been trading and developing Lagos even before the arrival of colonial masters. So we can agree that Lagos state is blessed.
Imagine if Lagos governors have been spending the state resources recklessly; will people stay? Won't people go to other serious and developed states. So kudos must be given to past and present governors. Lagos is receiving same allocations like other state.

Both states an completely different. Lagos occupies a strategy position in Nigeria which comes with certain privileges. Lagos attracts so much foreign and local investments which Anambra State can not attract. Growing the economy of Anambra by 1% is as difficult as growing the economy of Lagos by 10%.
Lagos attracts local and foreign investments in quote; right from 1999 what do you think the governors have been doing right for attracting investments that Anambra cannot pull off?

Hating the Igbos brings you backwardness.
The backwardness of Nigeria is purely rooted in her citizens collective hatred of Igbos.

Ghana might think that they are wise to join Nigerians to hate the Igbos. By the time it will hit them hard, they will seek the Igbos to rebuild.

I wondered why people have consistently failed to know that the Igbos are not meant to be hated but be treated lawfully.
You want them to treat you lawfully but ask yourself are you treating your fellow Ibos(Ebonyi) lawfully? You dished out what you can't accept.

Why hasn't he done it for Nigeria?

If Peter Obi was the governor of Lagos State he would have done far than Tinubu. If Tinubu was the governor of Anambra he would have been a disaster. Lagos State is very easy to govern considering the economic value of the state.
What was the economic value of Lagos state before Tinubu came in 1999 and the growth rate when he left in 2007?

What was the economic value of Anambra state when Peter Obi came in and the growth rate when he left?
lets start from the above questions.
