Thank u nurey. I tot so too but it's the oil thickness I was wondering about. Also I gauged the transmission oil and it's on gauge. Do u think I should top it up again? Considering the leak

I drive a corolla 2011 and just changed the complete drive shaft with the inner cup. I noticed some oil collected from under at the inner cup side. Could be up to 1 litre. It seem thicker than gear oil n it's not engine oil. Mechanic said its axle oil from the transmission. How do I replace this and what is axle oil? What damage can be done if I don't replace. Thank u.

My compressor pulley makes a rattling noise when ac is on and when I rev the engine..the ac chills super cold and I don't intend to take the advise of technicians who wants me to change the compressor especially to a manual alternative which they claim is better than the auto which I feel is wrong. This also means we changing the condenser and dryer..that is money I don't even have and I have watched countless vjdeos on YouTube showing this can even be a DIY thing with the right tools. Do we have anyone that can change the pulley in Abuja?

You guys are not getting the OPs point..when you work in an organisation where the output is measured by a teams performance ypu would understand the dilemma. Have you been somehere where what your team memebers do determine the results you have? A single team member can drag the whole team down if he or ahe is not doing their own share of the work. Everyone needs to now work extra hard to cover the lapses which would have been useful energy to do other things. If you have 4 legs for a table and one is crooked or broken you know the table will loose balance. Its imperative every one work together to produce a better result. Team work is very important and each one needs to know and do their responsibilities. OP i sympathise with you and i know the feeling..but know one thing..keep doing your work and continue to add value..a man with value can never be discarded..when you leave this job there are two things that can never be taken from you..your experience and your network

Its a business decision and experience has made it so..i a not in a hurry tho..you can schedule a time convenient for you and just take a look..if its somthing you may want to do then fine but if not i really dont hav a problem..everyone can choose what clients he wud work with n its somtin i do everyday at work..

The only time I reject any car is when that car has been really abused. I do not accept a work that has seen several hands. Reason is the integrity of the components allied the working of that faulty part may be compromised.

I have had an experience mid last year when someone with a '99 avensis came to me literally begging to fix a faulty power steering system in his car, he told me over 6 mechanics have tampered with the steering. I was busy, but rescheduled a further date for him.
Next day he came again and repeatedly disturbed me, till I got a quote for parts (minus labour and logistics).
I told him we need to replace faulty rack and pump. I told him we'll replace rack first, then if steering pump response is okay, we'll use his steering, but he should bear in mind that the steering pump will be replaced. He agreed.
Gave me cash for parts only, which I ordered steering rack, it came, I didn't like the one which was brought cos its not exact fitment. This same man came the next day and started quarreling me to hasten his work. I went to the market myself and I wasn't feeling too strong health wise, I was drenched in heavy rains.
I bought the rack, dismounted the front suspension beam and installed the rack while I was terribly ill and drenched.
I poured in P/S fluid into the steering pump to quiet the squeak and it worked fine, but I told the car owner to bear in mind that we haven't finished his job. But he collected the car and rushed out without allowing me to bleed the steering system of air trapped inside..

The later came back that evening yelling that he isn't satisfied with my job and I ate his cash. I must produce the remaining money for P/S pump (7k).
I had no choice but to go to where I safely kept the cash and give him. Till this day, he didn't pay me for any labour.

This is just one scenario where my sympathy landed me into a silly situation.


Its 2017, I still repeat, I won't collect any job that has been given to multiple mechanics to do trial and error, neither will I collect a job when I'm super busy or when the customer is in a rush.

Thank you gazuz. I have always suspected the timing chain because i had an issue once and the guy worked on the engine and claimed he had to work on the timing chain. Since then the check light have been on..but each other mechanic says its not timing chain but the sensor and i have changed the sensor more than 3 times..kingreign says he doesnt work on toyota the last time we spoke.my engine has basically suffered from bad mechanics..from one that changed my top gasket claiming over heat when it was not even over heating to different people diagnosing different things just because they have an obd scanner. I tire jare

P0014 - "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

In my many years of working on engines I have only seen a cam sensors go bad on Nissan. Never seen them go bad on toyotas or Hondas.

So what else could cause this problem?
Let's look a bit deeper.

Cars have changed from the 1990s with distributors and now have variable timing. So it is very possible that your timing skipped a tooth (very unlikely unless human input was involved) or your VVTI system is malfunctioning.

My advise.

1. Find a mechanic who understands how modern day cars function, Not a Kid with a scanning machine.

2. Ensure he know how to use diagnostic equipment and also knows how to do the oily work.
