I dont blame you. I too used to used to parrot this overused narrative in support of Israel before my eyes opened. Iran wants war and yet they didn't start this war or any other war in the Middle East, unlike the so-called responsible democratic countries. You should go and learn how the first coup in Iran occured and who backed Saddam Hussein as he murdered Iranians with chemical weapons. Iran was in the middle of negotiations when Israel and America executed a terrorist attack on its soil. Their officers have been killed within and outside Iranian territory for no justifiable reason, their embassy has been bombed, but it's all fair since it is Iran. You can believe whatever lies you want to believe but logical minds know that without nukes, Iran is just another Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan in the making.

If religion is what makes countries oppose Israel, then I'd like you to explain to us why millions of Christians and atheists around the world supported Iran in this war.

And before you talk about Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas, I want you know that I don't and will never see them as terrorist groups (esp the first two groups). I know what real terrorists look like, and they are all American brain children.

I'm trying to keep my assessment of the Iran-Israel war succinct.
Nairaland (thanks to the b0t) is not an ideal platform to share a comprehensive take.
That has meant discarding reams of informative details.
I'll highlight some of the most noteworthy in regular comments going forward.

Like this.

In November 2024, General Davood Sheikhian, ex deputy for operations of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said that Iran never requested the S-400 systems, and that Iran's current capabilities were far superior to them.
https://www.iranintl.com/en/202411171565

General Dafool is not with us anymore.
A casualty of the Iran-Israel war.

If he had survived, I would have recommended a court martial and an execution.
Israel did Iran a service by killing him.

Russia has been hawking the S-400 like okrika at Oshodi.
China, Belarus, India, Algeria all acquired it.
Even Turkey, a NATO member, acquired the S-400.
The US itself has offered to buy the S-400 from Turkey in return for allowing Turkey to get F-35 jets. Turkey refused.

But a coterie of id**ts that call themselves generals got high on their own supply and rejected it.
Their replacements have done exceedingly well in beating Israel into a surrender.
But the political class in Iran must begin to reign in on the st***dity of the flag officers.
This time the flag officers paid for their mistakes with their lives.
Next time, the political class may join the ranks of fatalities.

Mk dem no gree for anybody for that IRGC.
All of them for that IRGC need close marking.

-Lord
Seriously I still can't explain why Iran didn't aquire s400 very stupid decision. Apart from their tech brilliance, that country must be run like Nigeria with more corruption. But I will prefer they go for Chinese fighter jet and add Russia AD. If they can aquire this two things they are good to go

Lmao. Pakistan is hard pressed for cash, relying on IMF bailouts. Last I checked, their capital Islamabad's airbase runway that the Indian Air Force had bombed more than a month ago was still not repaired.

Pakistan is just that jealous neighbor that sees you buy a new car and he must buy one too. India recently displayed a series of new generation HGVs and ICBM/SLBM. This news must be Pakis dreaming of the same. Can't believe news meant for internal consumption in Pakistan (too boost their people's morale) is being spread here.

Iran multi-warhead Kheibar Shekan (Ghadr-H) “the monster missile" used only in the last of the 12 day war caused more damage than any other Iranian attack. it was easily shattering bunkers.

I have never seen Israel shout death to Iran
Infact Israel told the Iran people to raise up against the supreme leader and form a new government

Israel don't believe if you destroy all of Iran that some ones will appear to save them

There is no correlation between the two
Israel is not doing Satan work and they don't have ability to dominate any one in middle East

So you are yet to say what exactly makes you to hate Israel
Iam yet to say or you refuse to accept my reasons. I gave you 2 reasons you refuse to accept, even If I give you 5 more reason you will still not accept. What you want is to tell me your own reason why you think I hate them. Go ahead and do it and leave me alone. I don't have time to be going back and forth with you. Because of you they have blocked me 2 times, it's not worth it.

Wow! This is nice shoodboi, the reply took time but worth every piece of it
shoodboi2:
I believe everyone agrees to this. But killing the top bosses does not in any way prevent a military from fighting. Such incident is news for people looking to mock Iran. And it may lower troop morale too (at least, at the time of the attack), but that is all there is to it.

Militaries, or even any fighting force for that matter, are actually built with these sorts of attacks in mind. They also understand that illness, travel, accidents, retirements, and natural deaths can occur and put their commanders out of service, so they do not put all their eggs in one basket.

The US Joint Staff (who support the Joint Chief of Staff) alone has 2000 direct staff who work for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. To cripple the US military, you need to take out those 2000 folks. Then you have to kill many other top generals who may have served in that office in the past, along with every other officer that can replace them.

So, is that possible? Nope. We can say the same for Iran too. So, overall, killing the top shots did not affect Iran’s operational capability even though it is bad news as you said.

That is a well-known issue, which we have discussed here a few times. And as we can all see, Iran is working hard on it. Iran probably didn’t know the depth before now but they knew it was happening. They have arrested 700 so far. That is a good number. They also stopped lots of drone and spike missile attacks, which I believe we do not credit them enough for. I cannot count the number of drone factories and drone-transporting vehicles that they have busted. It was a lot.

Also, infiltrating an enemy airspace is really not something unique. Any military with a considerable air force and air defense can do it. Don’t judge it based on the US war in Iraq or Afghanistan. Those were turkey shoots. Even the US cannot get air superiority over Iran, not to talk of Israel.

First things first, there is zero evidence that Israeli jets entered Iran. But if they did, it is uncertain that Israel went past some areas of western Iran. But they would have remained close to the border. It is very unlikely that they went deeply into Iran and even flew over Tehran. They do not need to in the first place. Bombs dropped from high up can travel insanely long distances. So why bother to fly over something you can destroy from afar?

As for respect, I doubt if this war brought down Iran’s respect. If anything, it will instill fear and some respect in their neighbors. Saudi Arabia for one, is now sure that its US-supplied air defense systems aren't going to save it in a one-on-one fight with Iran. There is a reason these Arab countries continued to condemn the war in public even though they supported it in private. They saw what Iran did to Israel and they took notes.

For context, in 2019, the Houthis cut Saudi oil production capacity by half in a single day. This was 5% of the world's supply. Multiple drones and missiles were used in that attack. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack but the US, Saudi, and the UN said they weren’t responsible and said it was Iran.

If the Houthis could do that (or maybe Iran), then imagine what Iran would do when it's not trying to hide. Israel wanted to destroy Iran’s oil production capabilities in this war but desisted from doing so after Iran made it clear that no one will export oil in the Middle East if Israel tried such. Israel did well to not destroy Iran’s oil production.

That is normal. Mossad will try to. We don’t know how much damage the Mossad cells have received but we should agree that it is considerable. Despite that, there are still many more Mossad agents that have not been caught, so Mossad still has spies down there. And Mossad will add more.

Spying is not something any country can prevent. They can only reduce the possibility along with the damage the spies can cause, but it is never zero. As for Iran, they may not collapse the spy network completely but it can seriously weaken it. One method is to make the punishment for those as quick or severe as possible. Let Iranians and foreigners watch and see the consequences of spying. Many will reconsider whether the money Mossad will pay them is really worth the pain they will go through.

Thank you for this. But Israel has found out, for the first time, that there is a capable country in the Middle East that can stand up to it and cause considerable damage when it falls out of line.

A bully is only a bully for as long as there is no one ready to challenge them. Bullies thrive on fear and not even on the beating they can give to you. Many people can beat bullies, but the fear of the bully wouldn't even allow them to attempt such. But the moment that fear is gone, then the bully’s time is over.

Back in 2003, would it have been imaginable that Yemen would dare to launch missiles at US ships? Or that Iran will fire missiles at US bases? Or that the Taliban will cause the US to flee from Afghanistan?

Nope. No one dared the US back then. Not even Russia, which was still recovering from the separation of the USSR. Today, everyone is having a piece of the US in the Middle East. The US is still powerful, no doubt, but the Houthis comfortably firing missiles at them is a clear indicator that the power is waning.

The same applies to Israel too. They have always thrived on invincibility. They used to be feared and were considered undefeatable. But Hezbollah started to change that, then Hamas took over. Then the Houthis got involved and finally, Iran.

For the first time, Israelis have discovered they are just flesh and bones with blood, just like everyone else. The large-scale bombings they used to watch on television was now at their doorstep. And it wasn't those small Hamas sugar-and-pipe rockets, or the one or two ballistic missiles that Yemen fires. This time, they were having dozens of ballistic missiles (and even hundreds at the beginning of the war) coming right at them at once.

No one could have predicted that Israel would be hit this hard. Or that Iran will fire this many missiles. But then, here we are. The cloak of invincibility is off and it will get worse. Israel is no longer feared as it used to be. And at some point in the future, it will have to come to the negotiation table. It's rivals are getting stronger. They are also making new enemies everyday. Israel cannot be in a state of perpetual war forever.

The laxity in Iran’s counter-intelligence is something we have discussed here over and over, long before now. It is a well-known weakness of Iran. Iran should up its game. They are too lax for a country that wants its allies to take it seriously.

Such act will be a major escalation. War has rules. Israel is the one breaking them.

For now, Iran appears uninterested in those sorts of operations. Check Iran's profile, it is super-clean. Every single war they have fought since the Islamic republic was organized in 1979 had either been defensive, a counter insurgency, or a civil war/conflict.

Iran has never been an aggressor and it doesn’t appear like it wants to be one. It just wants to establish a deterrent. it is also interested in preventing Israel from expanding, wants a Palestinian state, and doesn't want the US or Israel to establish themselves at its border with Iraq.

But this is something Iran will be forced to do in the future. It will definitely get to that point if Israel continues. But for now, it is unlikely that Iran will do such a thing. If you ask why, then I will say that "A country that keeps dragging its feet about acquiring nukes is unlikely to be interested in assassinating the enemy’s politicians, military, and scientists."

As for the word “terrorist groups,” I do not want to go into a definition of terrorist because I know we will disagree on that. But as they say, “One man’s terrorist group is another man’s freedom fighter." For context, Iran only funds Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and some elements of the Popular Mobilization Forces of Iraq.

The Houthis are one faction in a civil war. As for Hezbollah, Iran founded it in response to Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon. Hamas itself was founded by Palestinians who felt the PLO was not effective enough and was being played by Israel and the US (which is true).

But Hamas itself was funded by Israel from the 70s to the late 80’s to early 90’s. Iran only started funding Hamas in the 90’s. So, if you accuse Iran is funding a terror group, will you also accuse Israel of doing the same?

Hamas is unlikely to have survived if not for Israel’s money. But Israel did so because it wanted a PLO-Hamas conflict to weaken the PLO. The PLO (and the Palestinian Authority that replaced it) became weaker over time but then Hamas got stronger.

This pattern of funding "terrorists" is actually common with Israel and the west. They are known to fund and arm all sorts of “terror groups” against their enemies. It is well documented. Israel itself funds and works closely with the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), which commits terror acts against Iran. But again, as they say, "One man’s terrorist group is another man’s freedom fighter."

Sure. You're welcome 😊
