In 2015, PDP stated that the Presidency of 2019 will go to the North owing to the fact that it was a popular view & their last President (GEJ) hails from the South (as recommended by the Committee). Infact this decision was made 1st Oct 2015 and Atiku defected to the PDP on Nov 2017.

In 2022, PDP set up two committees:- headed by Ugwuanyi (Enugu Gov) and Ortom (Benue Gov), all Wike allies to decide on zoning of Party Offices and Presidential tickets respectively.
