Maria Butina pleads guilty to role in a Russian effort to influence Conservatives. It will be interesting to find out who actually received money from Russia via the NRA. Mitch McConnel, Paul Ryan? Who else? One of the reasons they and other Republicans can do nothing about Trump, I guess. He could take them all down in the blink of an eye. This would be a draining of the swamp at its best. |

White House Chief of Staff General Kelly is leaving the administration by the end of this year. Trump attacked the media a few weeks ago for saying Kelly would leave soon calling them fake. |

Rudy Giuliani waves the white flag
After Special Counsel Robert Mueller released his Michael Flynn sentencing memo on Tuesday, we saw Donald Trump’s criminal defense attorney Rudy Giuliani short-circuit on a level that was jarring even by his standards. Rudy went off about “special whatever” and “sick puppies” and other bizarreness. Then on Wednesday, Mueller made a criminal referral that we think may be targeting Rudy. Today, Rudy seems to be waving the white flag.
Rudy Giuliani admitted to the Atlantic today that Donald Trump is an impossible client. Rudy revealed that it took him weeks to walk Trump through the process of answering Mueller’s written questions, when it should have taken just a couple days, implying that there’s something wrong with Trump’s cognitive abilities. Then Rudy admitted that he can’t get Trump to stop tweeting incriminating things about the investigation, which is really weird, considering how often Rudy tweets incriminating things about the investigation. The Palmerreport is a rather unreliable source but I would like to have the link to the article in the Atlantic. |

wirinet: I am happy some people see beyond all the noise and are able to think clearly. You forgot to add the added effect of an unnecessary trade war with China and the rest of the world. When you increase tarrifs on foreign steel and aluminium, who will pay for it? It's the Americans of course as it increases production costs, since most US companies will have to import these items. When you increase tarrifs on industrial and consumer goods from China it only increases the costs to an average US consumer. China is essential to the supply chain of goods manufactured in the US. Everybody agrees that China engages in unfair trade practices, but you do not bring the whole house down to fix faulty roof. He should have gotten the cooperation of other countries or trading blocks to get China to change.
Let me add that China is hitting the US where it bites hardest. They are hitting back with agricultural products. They simply stopped buying soy beans and other agricultural products from the US. This has hit US farmers badly, as agricultural products rot in a short time. China can source the agricultural products elsewhere. If we had leaders that have a grain of sense, they should have invested heavily and quickly in agricultural products like soy beans. In less than one year we should be supplying China with billions of not millions of dollars of soy beans. Wise countries like Brazil has started supplying China with millions of dollars worth of soy beans. I don't care about consumer prices to be honest. People elected Trump to save them from the consequences of, as they say, globalism and yet they buy plenty of products made in China and other Asian countries, many of which they do not even need. They show them off on Facebook or wherever possible but they do not care to ask where and how they were manufactured. Later they complain about not having a job and look up to Trump like Jesus the Savior and at the same time continue with mass consumption and environmental pollution. Their decisions have come to bite their ass and neither Trump nor Jesus will save them from the bad decisions they make out of ignorance. |

wirinet: Trump and his supporters is just building an ice castle, winter is coming to an end soon and all the glittering structure will start to melt.
The US economy is already showing signs of heading into a major recession. https://www.google.com.ng/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjY6oCGgYjfAhWB4YUKHa7ADaMQzPwBegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.forbes.com%2Fsites%2Fnextavenue%2F2018%2F08%2F03%2Fis-the-next-recession-on-its-way%2F&psig=AOvVaw1GZyufVyUUONxveYBCg22Q&ust=1544075884345911
I really pity the administration that will come after Trump. A recession would have to follow with or without Trump. It's the natural order of things. One can only argue how much Trump has contributed to its pace and intensity. The bigger problem is that Trump decided to lower taxes (mainly for the rich) when the economy was booming instead of saving for rainy days (though he promised to reduce the debt) in order to create more jobs when unemployment was at a record high (illogical). It was popular with many but highly irresponsible. You give tax breaks in times of recession and you can additionally invest in infrastructure to boost growth in a stalling economy. You save when the economy is booming and revenues are high. In the next major recession the US will have to run up more debt to save the economy. |

budaatum: Trump's countless scams are finally catching up to him. it seems likely that for the first time in his life, nothing can protect Donald J Trump from the trouble he’s made, and the sheer scale of it is astonishing. The Guardian
Is the Guardian on the liberal list, by the way? It is generally on the left. Also, you have provided an opinion piece. However, none of it disqualifies the article and the next weeks/months will prove it right or wrong. Personally, I love having access to right and left leaning media, news reports (factual) and op-eds (subjective opinion pieces) to get a balanced view. I choose not to live in an echo chamber where I get to hear what I would like to hear or read. |

itchie: The article below has the answers to your questions. USMCA is a way better deal for Americans than NAFTA. And the details were sourced from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; Associated Press; Reuters; Bloomberg and USA TODAY research before one Clownish, ignoramus baboon on nairaland comes here to accuse me of getting my info from fox news. Just read the article below it's very concise, read it and tell me why any "American" with half a brain should prefer NAFTA to the new deal
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/10/01/comparison-nafta-and-usmca-trade-agreements/1487163002/ Thanks for the article but I thought you read the 1900 pages document instead of articles I could have googled myself. I seem to have misunderstood you. My bad. You are right, USMCA is an upgrade to NAFTA but the name is the biggest adjustment that has been made. 90% of NAFTA remain the same. I like that Trump is targeting low-pay production for many reasons and I hope everyone is aware that it will drive consumer prices up. |

raumdeuter: Geographically, water occupies 70% of the earth. Of the 29% land, one-third of that if arid desert. Not to talk of mountains. Next we talk of natural disasters and wars which make the inhabitable and peaceful part of the world very small and thus competition for it is fierce
If resources are scarce the stronger take it from the weak, Its not a moral question is a survival thing. Its why the food chain exist. When it comes to survival civility goes away. If there is only 3 space on a raft to save us and others will sink, I will fight with everything to get my family on that raft.
You must think the world is some sort of Utopia. You mean you will rather sink and die than fight for survival whichever means it take?
Protect and defend your interest YES. I will prioritize my families interest over my neighbors, I wont expect you to feed my kids if yours are starving at the moment. I will expect any president to do the same You propagate a mentality that creates exactly the conditions that we experience in SHYTE-hole countries. The mentality that it is ok to protect one's family at the expense of others not only leads to but also justifies corruption and other forms of crime. On an international level this mentality will lead to wars. Regarding your limited resources thesis, people used to fight wars based on their mindset of lack when the world population did not even amount to 50% of the size we have today. We are many more today and hunger and poverty have been reduced since humans have found creative and constructive ways to cope with the world's problems instead of antagonizing other humans. |
