Please gynae in the house, I got a positive pregnancy test since July 17th, 2 weeks after I started bleeding, went to the hospital and was just put on bed rest , I have done transvaginal scan and shows uterus is empty, only thickened endometrial wall. The doctor refused to give any drug to stop the bleeding despite test still remained positive . After almost 2weeks of bleeding he has decided to give me primolut depot injection for 5days. Please Gynaecologists should I go ahead and take it? Cos I have already taken my fate that I have lost the pregnancy cos I recently passed out clots

If after a positive pregnancy test you are bleeding, there the possibilities are miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Since ultrasound has shown empty uterus, ectopic is likely. The next best step for your condition is to do beta HCG assay twice 48 hours apart. If the levels double the it is normal intrauterine pregnancy that cannot be detected yet by routine transvaginal scan, in which case you should go for tranavaginal scan of 4D Doppler ultrasound. If the levels rise slowly, then it is miscarriage/ectopic. If the levels drop significantly, it is failed pregnancy and you should confirm with 4D transvaginal scan to know if you will need evacuation. NEVER USE PRIMOLUT WHEN THE PREGNANCY TEST IS POSITIVE. Hello Favouredmom, sorry for my absence and silence for a while. my ISP was down and I had no access to internet. Did my anomaly scan last week and all is well, praise GOD! also confirmed sex..we are team BLUE..yeah.. exactly what we have asked GOD for.. so we are eagerly counting down to December..kikiki...We are 19weeks and waddling.. these days, my appetite is a bit low and I have gained about 10kg since I got pregnant. Hopefully I can keep it balanced till delivery time...

I rejoice with you, but i would have rejoiced even more if you had told me the Doppler ultrasound findings. Anomaly scan is NOW not complete without Doppler report. Please read this article below

According to the above article, Hundreds of stillbirths could be prevented every year if the NHS introduced a scan that costs just £15, a leading obstetrician has claimed.

Professor Kypros Nicolaides believes routine use of Doppler scans across the UK could cut the number of stillborn babies by as much as 60 per cent, potentially saving 1,900 babies’ lives a year.

Many deaths are caused by a failure in the placenta, which can restrict the flow of blood to the baby, starving it of nutrients and oxygen. Often problems occur towards the end of the pregnancy in mothers with no previous problems.

Shavon Perkins, 35, and Richard Little, 36, of Eltham, London, lost their son Joseph in February this year when he was stillborn at 41 weeks.

“A [Doppler] scan would absolutely have saved his life,” Ms Perkins said, although she added that other warning signs had been missed
