The Management of Dangote Group says its sugar and salt companies lose about N2 billion monthly to the perennial traffic gridlocks on Apapa Port roads every month. The company’s traffic Manager, Mr Mohammadu Rabiu, revealed this at a stakeholders meeting called at the instance of the Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy in Lagos.



The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was aimed a finding a lasting solution to the chaotic traffic situation in the area. Rabiu said that the company was losing so much because of its inability to lift products from its depot at the port as a result of the traffic congestion.


He refuted claims that Dangote trucks were among those constituting nuisance in the area, saying that the company’s transport unit only sent out specific numbers of trucks that have business to do in the port. “We sent about 40 trucks daily to our depot but they have to remain on the bridge pending when they have access to the ports. Any single Dangote truck seen on the road is needed in the port. You will never see repair work being done on Dangote truck by the side of the road or on the bridges,” he said.


Rabiu, however, advised the Nigerian Ports Authority to introduce tallying system for truck drivers, adding that any truck on Lagos roads without carrying tally should be turned back. “Unwanted trucks that do not have anything to do in the port should not be seen on the road. The solution to the traffic problem in Apapa is by removing unwanted trucks from the roads,’’ he added.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo who recently turned 81 has revealed one of his life's biggest source of sadness.

Speaking to an August assembly of Nigerian and foreign well wishers who gathered at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, to felicitate with him, he said it saddens him deeply that his parents didn't live to see and enjoy the success of their son.

“One of the things that I always miss or remember with sadness is that my parents left this world too early and the sacrifices they have made for me, how I wish they have been around to see the fruit of their labour. But if, as Yoruba believe that those who are dead are still able to see those who are alive, my parents, wherever they are, will also be grateful to those who have worked with me to achieve everything.

A victim who lost her husband to Fulani herdsmen attack has spoken about the incident that led to the death of her husband and landed her in hospital.

Mrs. Patience Akpomiemie was at their cassava farm in Abraka, Delta state with her husband Mr. Happy Akpomiemie and their son Elvis when they were attacked in February (read here).



Mr Akpomiemie was killed while Mrs Akpomiemie was shot as she tried to escape. Their son escaped unhurt. The victim, who was recently discharged from Oghara Teaching Hospital, narrated what transpired on that fateful day.

Speaking to newsmen, she said:

"I followed my husband to our cassava farmland to get money to pay for the treatment of our two sons that were involved in motorcycle accident and also to pay for the enrollment fees (WAEC) of our sons, not knowing that Fulani herdsmen will turn me into widow with little children to take care of and right now I hardly work or do anything as a result of the injury I have sustained."

Members of the community urged the Federal Government to employ more efforts to put an end to the herdsmen problem once and for all so as to enable them to carry out their farming activities without fear.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has smashed a syndicate that specialises in diverting funds from the account of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. The EFCC also grilled a JAMB official based in Makurdi, Philomina Chieshe, who claimed that a snake swallowed N36m which was part of the proceeds of the sale of scratch cards.



Detectives at the commission said Chieshe revealed that the money was collected in instalments from her by her Coordinator, Samuel Umoru. In one of the statements she volunteered to the EFCC, Chieshe who is a clerk in the Makurdi office of JAMB, was said to have revealed that the coordinator usually asked her to withdraw proceeds of the sale of the cards from her account in two banks.



It was learnt that before the advent of the Treasury Single Accounts, the practice at the time was for JAMB officials to keep the proceeds of the sale of cards in unauthorised bank accounts which led to the loss of billions of naira. In the statement she made to the EFCC under oath, Chieshe said, “This money that I withdraw, the coordinator used it for the office and some time for himself.”



She claimed that she had been warning Umaru that it was improper to use the money for miscellaneous expenses in the office or for private purposes but he would not listen. The suspect also claimed that Umoru was in the habit of drawing IOUs from the proceeds of the sale of the cards without reimbursing her.

The 35-year-old rapper who has been on a break for several months made her first public appearance on Sunday night.

‘Some parents make it easier for their children to be defiled'' Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team coordinator Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, says The coordinator of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team DSVRT, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, has said that some parents actually make it easy for an abuser to defile their children.



In an interview with The Nation, Vivour-Adeniyi said parents leaving their wards in the hands of neighbors has overtime made it easy for an abuser to abuse them. She added that some men with erectile dysfunction who have abused little children said they did it because the little children will not laugh at them.

According to the data gathered from our research, the first factor is the abused abuser factor. Another factor was that some people said they had poor performance with their peers –this is real data. Some said it was as a result of poor erectile dysfunction and they were tempted because the children obviously would not laugh at them. However, it is important to state that some people actually make it easier for children to be defiled. The idea of leaving children with neigbours is condemnable. Parents are not supposed to leave their precious jewels with any kind of person. Perpetrators don’t just pounce on children, they groom them. Luck ran out on an armed robbery suspect who was confronted by a mother and daughter, as he attempted to rob them at their Oklahoma liquor store.

According to Tulsa World, the failed operation happened on Thursday night at the Forest Acres Liquor in Tulsa, where Tina Ring, 53, and her daughter Ashley Lee, 30, were working.

Surveillance video obtained by the media outlet, captured the scary moment the suspect walked into the liquor store and pointed a weapon at Lee, who was behind the counter.



He had a brief operation behind the register section, before disappearing from the video.



Tina and her daughter Lee luckily reached for their guns and opened fire a number of times when the suspect reappeared. This forced the suspect to retreat from the building.

Soon after, the suspect reappeared again after getting injured from the gunshots clash, and gets into a physical fight with Ring over her weapon.

But her daughter fired at the thief for a second time, before escaping with her mother from the building.

Recounting the terrifying experience with Tulsa World, Ring said:

“I didn’t want him to hurt my daughter, that was my main thought. All I was thinking was 'Just give him the money and go,' and next thing I know, I see him back in my face,"

"I think I'm still in shock. I don’t think I have really processed everything yet," she added.

According to the outlet, the suspected robber was identified as Tyrone Lee, a man in his thirties, citing Sgt. Brandon Watkins of the Tulsa Police Department’s robbery unit. The suspect is not related to the store employee, Ashley, the outlet said.

Security forces in western Libya have arrested a man for killing his ex-wife and throwing her body in Qaryat Boaishi in Tripoli.

The crime was unveiled on February 22 when a watchdog brought a human leg to his owner, who immediately reported this to the police.

Police detectives, with the help of the same watchdog, located the dead boy. They found a dead woman whose body was cut into pieces while some parts of her limbs were eaten by stray dogs.

The detectives managed to locate and arrest the killer in Rayayna town, some 142 southwest of Tripoli, after five days.

A naked woman went on a date covered in body paint and her date, who she met on Tinder, did not even notice.

Joy Jewell went on a Valentine's Day date with a comedian just to see if he would notice she was just wearing underwear. She had ripped jeans and a camisole painted onto her body by artist Jen the Body Painter. The body painting took two hours.

When she arrived, her date didn't notice. He even commented that he likes her outfit after he helped her pull the black jacket she had on.

Joy said before meeting him: "The guy I picked is a comedian and he’s really really really funny, so I’m looking forward to meeting him and seeing his reaction."

As they sat talking in a US shopping center he mentioned that at first, he thought she was naked but then dismissed the idea as ridiculous. Joy was finally exposed when they stepped outside and it was raining so her paint started running. The Tinder date was still keen to see her again though despite the betrayal.

A hospital in Ajah, Lagos allegedly refused to take in an unconscious accident victim despite pleas from good samaritans who brought the victim to the hospital.

According to actor Segun Arinze who shared the story, the man was brought unconscious to the hospital but the staff made no move to administer first aid or try to resuscitate him. They locked the gates of the hospital to the man and refused to open the doors.

The man's situation is currently unknown.

A violent gang brutally murdered a 20-year-old man by hacking him to death with a samurai sword hours after a teenager was fatally stabbed less than half a mile away in London.



The 20-year-old was attacked in the middle of Bartholomew Road, Camden, by a bandana-wearing gang wielding a samurai sword at around 10.15pm on Tuesday, according to witnesses. After the attack, the gang fled on foot as passers-by desperately tried to save the wounded victim. It was the worst night of violence in the city since New Year's Eve when four men died.

Only two hours earlier a boy of 17 or 18 was stabbed to death less than a mile away near a memorial to another teenager, Lewis Blackman, who was stabbed to death in Earl's Court at the weekend.

The two young men killed on the same day are both of Somali origin. They are among six victims of stab wounds in the Camden area of London on Tuesday evening.

One resident who saw the attackers fleeing the scene said: "I saw these four kids in tracksuits running off. One turned to look at me, but they just kept running. I thought at first they were just playing around and then I heard the screaming."

Denise Arnold, 63, who lives in Malden Road, saw people attempting to resuscitate the victim of the second stabbing.

She said: "My neighbour rushed out because she knew there was something bad. She stood on her bed and she could see. So she rang the 999 call and she was told to go down and check he was breathing."

She said she saw a large group of people gathered around the victim and added that there was a lot of screaming. At around 11.30pm she said she heard more "wailing and screaming" at the scene.

Another local resident said of the attack: "I heard screaming and shouting and then I looked out my window and I could see him on the floor. There was blood everywhere and he was holding his abdomen to try and stop the bleeding. A man stopped his car and ran over and that was when about 20 people started crowding round him, it was right in front of my building."

When police arrived the scene, they put on extra patrols and issued an order allowing them to stop and search anyone. Police are investigating if the two murders are linked.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has asked for an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May and Home Secretary Amber Rudd to discuss what can be done to stop the increase in knife crime.

Until last night, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi had not scored in his career against Chelsea but finally broke the jinx with at Stamford bridge with his goal in a Champions League match.

It took him nine games, but Lionel Messi has finally broken through against Chelsea finding the net in the 75th minute to level the Champions League match 1-1 at Stamford Bridge and cancel out Willian's earlier strike.

The game ultimately finished 1-1, with Barcelona having the opportunity to take advantage in the second leg at the Camp Nou on March 14. Chelsea had been one of the 12 teams that the Barcelona star had faced in his career without scoring against, and one of two remaining in the current Champions League.

The equalizer was Messi's 18th goal against English opposition in the Champions League, by far the most of any player. Rival Cristiano Ronaldo is second with 11. The goal also means Messi has now scored in 61 of his 122 career Champions League contests.

On February 20, 1978 African music legend and Afrobeat creator Fela Anikulapo Kuti married 27 women on the same day all of whom were his back up dancers.



History has it tha Fela was able to pull off the feat by putting out a notebook and asking any of the girls who were willing to marry him to write down their names and instantly 27 of them did.



And on February 20th, Fela called Ifa priests (reportedly 12) to join the wives in holy matrimony at the Parisona Hotel in Anthony, Lagos. A handful of the wives married against their parents consent but the wedding ceremony went on nonetheless.

The event was joined by band members, friends and family. Fela placed naira notes on their heads, offered a few words and dished around marriage certificates. He would then engage in a rotating system of having just 12 of them live with him at a particular time. When he first married, he had sex with one, then another, then another till the 27 were complete and then he took them all to Ghana for the honeymoon shortly after.

Some photos going viral online shows a Black man purportedly getting married to a sex doll and the reports are claiming it happened in Lagos, Nigeria.

In the photos which have caused people to hurl insults at the man, the groom dressed in a suit is seen with his sex doll bride who is dressed for the occasion in a white wedding gown and veil. A best man can also be seen in the photo.


Knowing how conservative Nigerians can be, it's highly possible this is just for a movie but social media users aren't considering that as they cussed out the man and the best man who supported him.

One of the accused persons standing trial over the unlawful importation of 661 sophisticated pump action rifles into the country last December, Mamudu Hassan, yesterday told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that he paid a sum of N1 million to officials of the Department of State Security, DSS, and other security agencies to smuggle the guns out of Apapa Ports.

Mamudu, a retired Assistant Comptroller of Customs, stated this in a recorded video during his interrogation by men of the DSS. The video, recorded on March 27, 2017, between the hours of 2p.m., and 2.45p.m., was tendered by an operative of DSS, Jaiye Emmanuel at the resumed trial-within-trial, as Mamudu  gave a breakdown of how the N1 million was shared among DSS and other security agencies.

''I gave N1 million to facilitate the moving of the container out of port, but it is not because of the guns.”

When Mamudu was asked how the N1 million was shared among security agencies, he said

“The examiners were given N200,000; C.I.O. N100,000; Enforcement N200,000; Police, SSS — between N20, 000, N25, 000, and N30, 000; the two gates — N200,000; Exit gate, N20,000, and final gate N50,000.”

Mamudu also told the investigators in the video that he first agreed with the importer of the guns for N3.8 million, when he was first told that the consignments were steel doors, but raised the cost of clearing the consignment to N4 million, when he was told that the consignment included 661 pump action guns. The video recording was admitted in evidence, while further hearing continues today. I

Recall that on June 14, 2017, the Nigeria Customs Service had arraigned two Customs officers, Mamudu Hassan and Salisu Danjuma, alongside Oscar Orkafor, Donatus  Achinulo and Matthew Okoye, before Justice Ayotunde Faji on charges of illegal importation of fire arms, conspiracy, forgery and altering of documents, offering of graft to government officials and importation of prohibited goods.

They were arrested January 30th 2017. The offences, according to the prosecutor, Mr. Julius Ajakaiye,  are contrary to and punishable under Sections 3(6),1(14)(a)(I) 1(2) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap. M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and Section 98(1) (b) of the Criminal Code Act.

On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, his hometown, said all mismanaged and misappropriated national assets recovered will be sold off and proceeds paid to the treasury for the benefit of the country.



President Buhari who gave the assurance when he received representatives of social groups in Daura Emirate said his administration will continue to pursue a robust, effective and legitimate anti-corruption campaign that safeguards the treasury and commonwealth of all Nigerians.



The President said he would not allow a repeat of what happened in the 1980s when buildings and other ill-gotten property seized by his military administration were returned to corrupt officials following his ouster as Head of State. The President told the groups that the APC-led government will consolidate on the gains and monumental achievements in the development of infrastructure across the country.



“For most ordinary Nigerians, if you give them good roads, railway and stable electric power they will be happy to carry on with their lives. We are doing so much for our country and we will continue to do more out of the fear of God,” the President said.



On agriculture development, the President promised that the Federal Government will sustain the provision of funds, improved seedlings and fertilizer to farmers to ensure that the sector remains the largest employer of labour to Nigerians.



On the key priorities of the administration, the President maintained that the records of achievements on security, war against corruption and the revival of the economy, have remained very impressive. He expressed delight that more young people are venturing into agribusiness while security, especially in the northeast, had remarkably changed from what he met in 2015.

The 1 min 23 secs video showing Chyna performing MouthAction on her  ex Mechie was shared via an anonymous Twitter account and has since gone viral. Chyna was reportedly not aware neither was she in support of the video being made public and her lawyers have stepped in.

Chyna's lawyers Walter Mosley said his client had nothing to do with the video that leaked online. He is calling it a "criminal matter" and said they are working with police to track down who put the video out in the public.

$11.489m: EFCC rejects former first lady, Patience Jonathan’s out-of-court settlement offer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has rejected an appeal by former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, to settle out of court the brewing dispute over the strange payment of $11,489,069.03 into her domiciliary accounts. Mrs Jonathan through her counsel approached the antigraft agency for an out of court settlement.

The Nation reports that EFCC has however turned down her request and has asked her to appear before a court by entering into a plea bargain in line with the laws of the land. The agency said it would only accept a plea bargain in which the court is carried along.

Investigations by EFCC showed that some persons made strange depoits into the domiciliary account of the former first lady while she and her husband were in power. EFCC detectives have not been able to trace about 29 of the 31 individuals and companies which made the controversial deposits.

A source in the antigraft agency who spoke on condition of anonymity said that an out-of-court settlement suggests that there is a dispute between two parties.

“We have considered the January 30, 2018 letter by Dame (Mrs.) Ibifaka Patience Jonathan; we are of the opinion that her offer of out-of-court settlement is strange and confounding as if there is a dispute between her and the EFCC. We are certainly rejecting the offer from the ex-First Lady because the EFCC does not engage in such a deal. But we prefer the ex-First Lady approaching a court for plea bargain in line with the relevant laws if she is ready to settle all issues. The terms of the plea bargain will be open to all parties before the court. I think she should emulate other high profile suspects who went to the court for plea bargain. We are ready to apply the laws in the interest of justice for all. We won’t oppose plea bargain.”

The source said the EFCC would soon make its position known to Mrs Jonathan counsel. “As an officer in the Temple of Justice, we know that the respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) will guide the ex-First Lady accordingly,” he said.

A faction of the All Progressives Congress APC in Kaduna state has issued a six-month suspension to the governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai. The faction known as Kaduna Restoration group which is being led by Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, three days ago, issued the governor a query for what they termed his ''anti-party and anti-human activities''. Three of the governor's aides were also suspended for 18 months.

In a statement issued on Sunday February 18th, the faction said governor El-Rufai refused to honour the invitation to defend himself over the allegations levelled against him and they have suspended him for six months with immediate effect. The statement read

“Sequel to the 48 hours ultimatum issued to the Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir Ahmad Elrufa’i by the Kaduna state working committee of the APC to give explanations and defence on the allegations labelled against him, the SWC under chairmanship of S.I. Danladi Wada on Saturday 17th February 2018 convened, resolved and do consider and ratified the findings and recommendations of the Disciplinary and Fact Finding Committee put before it in accordance with Article 21 (B) (iii) of the APC Constitution, to the effect that having the governor failed to respond accordingly, he stands suspended for a period of 6 months from the APC with immediate effect,”.

The meeting had in attendance members of the state caucus, members of the national assembly, chairman and members of the state executive and working committees, stakeholders and other prominent APC members in the state.

46-year-old Paulus Hermanus de Jager has been sentenced by Upington Regional Court for the 2014 rape of a 4-year-old girl, the South Africa Police Service said on Saturday, February 17.

The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri welcomed the sentence and lauded the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Marius Struwig for his meticulous investigation which resulted in the sentencing of de Jager.

The incident happened on 12/10/2014 at the victim's house. De Jager who was a family friend at the time entered the victim's room and raped her.

After a thorough investigation, De Jager was arrested and charged with rape.

He was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with three year suspended for five years.

"The sentence will send a clear message that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that crimes against women and children are prioritised." said Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri.

Assailants suspected to be herdsmen reportedly stabbed one Pastor Danjuma Tanko in Baissa, Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State on Saturday.

The victim, said to be a pastor with the Christian Reformed Church-Nigeria (CRCN) is responding to treatment.
