The Disciples (followers of Christ) didn't name themselves, it was people that called them Christians. People had many names for them, some people called them Nazarenes(the Muslim guy saying that is not wrong), some called them the way and others the brotherhood. Now Jesus Christ has no religion whether Islam or Christianity. Jesus Christ never preached a religion. Jesus Christ preached and demonstrated the Kingdom of God. Stop comparing religion or stop instigating people in the bondage of one religion against the people under the bondage of another religion. It is such a useless exercise. I've made threads where I explicitly asked Muslims and Christians to unite.... ironically, Christians were the ones that were hurling the most hateful comments unprovoked.

You said I should read the original post but it would seem you, the OP, forgot to read the original post when you went off arguing about nomenclature and thereby making that the main subject. Yes, the thread was/is for Muslims but you wouldn't blame the Christians triggered by the first comment, would you? The poster invalidated thier identity and quite naturally, they felt the need to correct him. It would be your duty to bring the thread back to order, but here we are. To be very honest, I actually believe you only told me it was not a big deal simply because you didn't have any response for the angle I came from. Otherwise, you would have simply continued with the debate like you did with others. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

Personally, I couldn't care less about anybody's religion. But if you are going to allow bashing of non Muslims on your thread (or demeaning comments like the FTC), then you'd be doing the same thing you're criticizing. And, of course, you should be expecting reactions from those affected.

I did actually read the thread and if the terminology issue was indeed a derail, then it appears you enjoined others to derail your own thread cause you literally made it the centre of the conversation. When you say "please, read the thread", I don't know what else is you want me to read seeing as the majority of the posts here (including yours) are about the terminology. So you can't really blame me for joining the what seemed to be the active conversation. Maybe it would have been better if you had told the first commenter it should be a "non issue" instead moving to make it a big deal by actively debating it.

Nevertheless, I agree with you it's not a big deal. I don't really see what's wrong in respectfully addressing people how they want to be addressed especially by someone complaining about other people disrespecting his religion. Like you pointed out yourself, such irrelevant debates will only make a mess of your main purpose of creating the thread. Except, of course, I'm the one misunderstanding the purpose.

I was just passing by but I don't really get this argument (even though I've heard it several times). So if the word used in a non English context is "Al-Nasara" which means "followers of Christ", how is it a problem that the English Bible gave it an more English translation "Christian"? Were you really expecting the English word "Christian" to appear in the non English Bible? In Mandarin Chinese, we say "jidu jiao" which pretty much means the same thing. Are we also to argue that the word "jidu jiao" was not used in the original Bible? I believe different languages have thier respective translations for the original term all meaning the same thing, "followers of Christ". So why are we obsessed with the fact that English translation "Christian" was not used while we have "Al-Nasara" which means the same thing? Or should Christians be called "Al-Nasara" in Russia, China, France, etc. even though it's not a word in the languages spoken in these countries?

This is not an argument but a sincere quest for knowledge seeing as I'm not very religious myself. Like I said, I've heard people discuss this before and struggling to make sense of it.
