Lagos—Political thugs weekend unleashed terror on residents of Ajegunle, a suburb of Lagos, destroying properties worth millions of naira during a political campaign.

The thugs, numbering over 300, allegedly invaded Ajegunle and its environs during a political declaration campaign by a politician (names withheld) and a member Lagos State House of Assembly, who is angling to contest for the fifth term.

According to reports, the politician, who was accompanied by the thugs during the declaration, gave out bundles of N1000 notes in appreciation of their undiluted support towards his political ambition around Alao bus stop in Ojo road.

Trouble, it was learned, started when the sharing formula did not go well with some of the thugs as those from Campus in Adejiyan and Alaba streets took advantage of the situation to unleash terror on residents, using guns and axes to frighten residents.
They also looted shops and damaged parked vehicles.

A[b]lso seen were damaged vehicles, properties and shrapnels of broken bottles and shattered car windscreens which littered major streets as Jinadu, Apasa Safejo and Alao streets, while most shops remained shut.[/b]

When contacted, the Layeni Divisional Police Officer, CSP Chijoke Ndu, was unavailable but Vanguard reliably gathered that the division arrested and charged to court over eight thugs allegedly caught with pistols.

I don't subscribe to the view that a migrant from Osun or Ekiti has more claims to Lagos than an Igbo, Calabar or Hausa man born and bred in Lagos. I believe the national assembly is looking into the matter right now.

I will voting PDP anyway. no matter who they bring out for Lagos. We need freedom from Tinubu grip. Lagosians cannot breath freely anymore.

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is the best candidate for PDP in Lagos State. He has enormous public service experience as against Jimi Agbaje who has non. The only problem is that both Bode George and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe is that they don't see Senator Obanikoro as somebody they can control hence their determination to deprive him of the gubernatorial ticket. But they will fail!! Obanikoro is far more a Party man than Jimi Agbaje. Obanikoro is more ascessible than Jimi Agbaje and he has what it takes to rule a complex State like Lagos.
