The member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Mr Oyetunde Ojo (husband of Mrs Ojo Tinubu the new Iyaloja of Lagos), has warned political parties in Ekiti State, not to see the defeat suffered by Governor Kayode Fayemi and the party in the June 21 governorship election, as the death knell of the party in the state.

Ojo, who is the in-law of Senator Bola Tinubu, who stated this at the inauguration of his constituency projects in his constituency, pointed out that to underrate APC in the state because of the election would be erroneous and dangerous “because the party is still alive. Active and will still win elections.”

He said: “It will be erroneous to think Fayemi’s loss marked the end of APC in Ekiti. People have not rejected us and the 2015 general election remains the best opportunity for us as a party to prove our mettle.

“Though, if the election actually represented the true position of Ekiti people, then ,we have to go back to the drawing board and re-strategise and that we have been doing. But ,this will not in any way, prejudice our rights to challenge whatever grey areas we noticed in the election.”

Ojo, had called on the Federal Government to build standard hospitals in all the geopolitical zones of the country, to checkmate untimely deaths and loss of lives of precious Nigerian citizens to treatable ailments.

Speaking in Aramoko Ekiti, while commissioning a 20-bed ward donated to the General Hospital in the town, on Tuesday, Ojo declared that the scourge of ebola virus and other dreaded diseases could have been better handled, if Nigeria could be boast of world-class hospitals that could handle complicated cases.

The chairman, House Committee on Communications added that the facility he donated to the hospital, was meant to improve the medical service delivery for the people of his constituency, rather than to travel to Ado Ekiti capital city or neighbouring states to seek medical attention.

An Indian man was recovering well after undergoing surgery to remove a bullet that had been lodged in his heart for two months, a doctor said Wednesday.
Bharat Sharma, 32 was shot twice in July after becoming accidently caught up in a bank robbery in the country’s eastern Uttar Pradesh state, according to a report in the Times of India.
Sharma had surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his waist, but local surgeons had refused to take out the one in his heart, fearing he would die instantly, the report said.
Sharma finally travelled to the western city of Ahmedabad for the surgery on Tuesday to remove the .20 calibre bullet lodged near the apex of his heart’s left ventricle.
Cardiac surgeon Anil Jain said he and his team of two performed a “complicated” three-hour operation to remove the bullet and stitch up the heart.
“The bullet was stuck horizontally between the valves,” said Jain, from the SAL private hospital in Ahmedabad.
“Also, since the patient had lost lots of blood after the incident, we had to be very careful,” he told AFP.
“How the patient survived and reached us is pure destiny, Jain said.
The doctor said Sharma would be able to return to work in another month after his recovery in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
