Below is another cunning and misleading variation of the real deal.

Havells deliberately misspelt as Havel's
This is a completely different board in design and quality.
But To the ignorant/unsuspecting buyer this could pass as the real thing.

Speaking on the proliferation of fake goods, the killing of brands and the absence of standards.

Because of our penchant for cheap things, the greed of sellers and the ignorance of consumers (and surprisingly some so-called professionals); Nigeria is a flourishing hub for counterfeiters.
We are arguably the largest market for counterfeited products in the world. The complicity of our supposed regulatory apparatus only adds salt to injury. Many big brands with a strong presence (even in smaller African countries) shy away from establishing a presence here for some of these reasons, and those who mange to do so are having a hell of a time doing it.

An example of a reputable electrical brand with a counterfeit problem in Nigeria is Havells; as expected their products are currently widely counterfeited. From changeovers, to distribution boards to switch fuse units etc.
They continue to fight this by changing moulds, designs, repackaging, adding stickers etc.


For Example;
The Below are pictures of the MCBs for Havells distribution Boards.

On the LEFT you have the Authentic (made in India) while on the RIGHT is a Counterfeit (imported from China)

If you purchased a Havells board somewhere around mid 2016 till date and your MCB looks like the one to the right, you were sold a fake.

Do sufficient due diligence Always, exercise care Always, shop wisely.

"ALL" our Cables are supplied by the Factory, So they are 100% guaranteed to be authentic.
We do not directly or indirectly sell or encourage the sale of adulterated cables (which infact greatly affect our business)
If our pricing does not work, it's goodbye and thanks for considering us.

But our integrity issue is not limited to traders or local commerce alone. It plays out in our politics, religion, public office, and daily interactions. It really shouldn't come as a suprise. What you see in business is a reflection on a larger scale.

Very easy to identify for those that use/sell them often, some of them are lighter than original cable in weight and with the use magnet.

A magnet can only tell you if there is an iron content in the length of conductor.
The greater number of high grade imported clones are non-magnetic copper "alloys" .

Abeg, just clarify.

Just like there is no guarantee that every acclaimed Man of God is righteous.
There will be a handful of distributors that will play on both teams, especially if your "Aroro" is too much or your pricing is unrealistic.
Rather than loose the business, they might sell you clones, because they figure that's what you're gonna end up buying at that price anyways. especially where very large volumes are concerned.

There are alot of fake cables in the market now. Ibo guys have taken advantage of recession to bring in so many fake materials to Nigeria market. Only that can save us. Best is to buy from distributor.

I'm an "Ibo guy" too. But it goes without saying, the standard of merchandise we put out.

80% of other key distributors for local brands​ are also Ibo by the way.

People just need to source wisely and ascertain the genuity of their source. Not everybody with a shop full of cables is an "Appointed Distributor" .
Buying from an "appointed" distributor might also not give you 100% immunity, but it is your surest bet in an open market.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. One out of several dozens.
E be like say the importer no "do normal" ..because the scale of cloning right now is unprecedented. It's an open scandal.
It used to be unbranded or a subpar brand of Cables shipped here and then recoiled and repackaged as popular local brands...But now, the game has changed..... They brand the cables all the way from China (complete with engravings​ and all) and offload in secret warehouses, then start to move​ them into the market in bits ( if you settle the market Union).

Many sellers are smiling to the bank.
