Business / Pwc Reveals Fintech Companies Affected By Coronavirus Outbreak by Allnewsngr123: 6:35am On May 10, 2020
Some Fintech companies haven't been able to shield their operations from the bashing of the Coronavirus pandemic. Despite operating an online business, more than eleven Fintechs are among the companies that will be counting their losses, thanks to COVID-19.

This is according to a new report by PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria (PwC), which identified Fintech companies that will be severely affected by the economic fallout of the virus outbreak. PwC said the impact level will be determined by the type of services each financial technology firms offer.

Fintech companies to be affected by COVID-19

PwC identified Fintech firms operating loans and payment services. Unfortunately, most of the Fintech companies in Nigeria are operating within these two markets. Fintech companies like Renmoney, Flutterwave, Kudi, Paystack, Carbon, Branch, Paga, Fint.NG, Kwik Money, Zedvance, Aella Credit and many more operate in these markets.

PwC stated that due to the economic downturn, most debtors would be unable to pay their debt as at when due. Debtors won't be able to fulfill their loan obligations as many workers have lost their jobs and had their salary slashed due to the Coronavirus pandemic which is affecting the revenue of other offline companies.

It was also revealed that the Fintech firms in the payment space will have difficulty accessing capital needed to improve their services and expand their operation. This means investment into the payment segment will be low compared to pre-COVID-19.

“The payments segment will be impacted by the decline in global FinTech investments, which could hinder capital required for physical upgrade or expansion of digital infrastructure and services.

"For the digital lending segment, the impact of the lockdown measures on business activities, employers, employees, entrepreneurs, and other entities could affect the ability of lending clients to pay back short-term loan obligations as at when due,” PwC explained in their report.

Nairaland / General / Fresh Crisis Rocks PDP As Party Suspends Osun Chairman by Allnewsngr123: 4:18pm On May 01, 2020
From all indications, another crisis has erupted in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the suspension of Soji Adagunodo, the Osun State Chairman, Allnews reports.

This online medium learnt that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party suspended Mr Adagunodo over allegations of anti-party activities on Thursday.

The suspension letter issued to Adagunodo was signed by Senator Usman Tsauri, the National Secretary of the party, our sources said.

In a report obtained, the Committee informed Mr Adagunodo to step aside as the party coordinator in the state, directing that the Vice-Chairman to oversee the affairs of the party till the outcome of its investigation.

It was gathered that the Committee has launched an investigation into allegations of maladministration, anti-party activities among others levelled against the Chairman.

Our sources disclosed that the suspension of Mr Adagunodo cannot be disconnected to the attempt by the Ademola Adeleke's loyalists to usurp power in the party ahead of the 2022 governorship poll in the state.

Recall that Mr Ademola Adeleke, who was the flag bearer of the party in the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state lost to the All Progressives Congress's (APC) Gboyega Oyetola.

Celebrities / 8 Take-home Messages From Naira Marley's Ramadan Posts On Twitter by Allnewsngr123: 3:28pm On Apr 29, 2020
Fans of Nigerian singer, Naira Marley have obviously been seeing a different version of him since the commencement of Ramadan.

Allnews reports that Naira Marley has over time been seen as a bad influence on youths, through his controversial songs and raunchy posts on social media platforms.

To the surprise of many, since the commencement of Muslims' annual fasting and prayers, the "Soapy" crooner has deviated from his normal social media life and now dishes advice on different ways to observe the period of holiness in the Islamic religion.

Although, the father of four mastered the Quran to a level.

Below are some of the points he dished out to his followers on Twitter

1. The Quran was revealed in this month. It’s a month of Blessing, Mercy and forgiveness. The doors of heaven are opened. The doors of hell are closed. The shaytaan is chained up. Rewards are multiplied from 10-700 times. (laylatul-qadr) the night is better than 1000 months.

2. Among the beauties of Islam is that you make dua for your brothers and sisters in Islam without knowing them and in return, the angels make dua for you.

3. Fasting is only 1% of not eating and drinking, the rest of the 99% is bringing your heart and soul closer to Allah...
