After chilling Griezmann yesterday, saying he did not know "the feeling of being Uruguayan", the Barcelona player gave his opinion of the Mbappé today.

"Everyone knows he's a very good player, he's like Henry a few years ago, he's an important player for France but I think we have a defense capable of controlling him, but not only he, the whole team of France, "he said.

Argentina will need to achieve a 2-0 score against Nigeria to keep their World Cup hopes alive. After a tough game against Croatia last week the 2014 World Cup finalists might look to make a few changes to their squad ahead of their game against Nigeria on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has finally named his 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Having already trimmed down the provisional squad to 25 before the England friendly, Rohr was left with the decision of dropping two players from the roster.

The ‘unlucky’ duo dropped on Sunday are Ola Aina and Mikel Agu.

It is understood that both players will still travel to Russia as they are now on the alternate list.

John Mikel Obi is top on the list which has three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders as well as six forwards.

The Super Eagles will be making their sixth appearance at the World Cup in Russia and would be campaigning in Group D against the trio of Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.

Gareth Southgate has revealed his final England squad for this summer's World Cup in Russia.

The Three Lions boss has narrowed down his selection to just 23 players.


Southgate made a number of tough calls this week and notified experienced duo Joe Hart and Jack Wilshere, who have 109 caps between them, that they had missed out.

“I believe this is a squad which we can be excited about,“ Southgate said. “It is a young group, but with some really important senior players so I feel the balance of the squad is good, both in terms of its experience, its character and also the positional balance.

“We have a lot of energy and athleticism in the team, but players that are equally comfortable in possession of the ball and I think people can see the style of play we’ve been looking to develop.

Nigeria have named two uncapped players in their 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Domestic league leading scorer Junior Lokosa of Kano Pillars, and FC Crotone's Simeon Nwankwo join an expected cast of players which will be whittled down to the final 23 in June.
The squad will be led by team captain John Mikel Obi, and has usual suspects Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo.

Kambolov suffered a calf muscle injury in Rubin Kazan's season-closing encounter at Krasnodar on Sunday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
"After we got the information about Ruslan Kambolov's injury I asked Sergei (Ignashevich) whether it was possible for him to return to the national squad," Russia's Football Union (RFU) quoted Cherchesov as saying.
"Today (Monday) he gave his consent."

Nearly a week ago both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich met at the Allianz Arena to kick off the Champions League semi-final. Real went down 1-0 first to a goal conceded to right back Joshua Kimmich. Marcelo would score near the end of the first half to put everything square before the halftime whistle blew. Real then put in the go-ahead away goal on a great effort by Marco Asensio, who was subbed on for Isco at the half.

Real didn’t look terribly convincing, even with a win, they spent a great deal of time in their own end having to fight off the Bayern attack. The stats absolutely back this up, Real trailed in almost every aspect except the score. They had way less attempted shots, though only 1 less shot on target, less corners, and were dominated in possession. They also had more offsides and fouls called, though Bayern were issued 1 more yellow card. Needless to say, they need to step it up going into this 2nd leg at home.
