tillaman: Collaboration with private firms wouldn’t be a bad idea at all but the thing is they won’t even try to consider that idea let alone join hands with experienced private firms! Those in charge of the road rehabilitation will fight for their pockets first and use substandard materials so after 18 months the roads they rehabilitated will need another rehabilitation and the cycle continues!! You have said it all.

FarahAideed: Autojush has never known jack about cars and likes pretending he is in authority in a field he knows nothing about ... Do you know about coach makers that specialize in building hearses at all ..Do you even know the model of roll royce the caochmaker converted into a hearse before you went to grab the picture of a 2016 ghost and started comparing ? Guy you keep posting nonsense about cars here and some of us just watch you and laugh .. I hope you know the hearse in question was rented from APAMs pall bearers here in Lagos and not owned by SDM in any way . . I had to go back to read up the post to find where the OP suggested that the Rolls Royce belongs to Dino. I could not find it. Autojosh did well in clarifying that the car is not a real Rolls Royce, because many people might actually go to town screaming that Dino used a Rolls Royce for his mother's burial. Autojosh is doing well in informing and educating us about cars. If you feel you know more about cars than him, the sky is wide enough for as many birds to fly. By the way, I learnt a lot about Rolls Royce from this particular post. |

duni04: I'm an old member of NL and haven't posted in a while but this thread has forced me to say something today. I'm disgusted and irritated by the audacity of the OP of this thread to post blatantly false information all over this article. To write that Amaechi awarded the PH rail contract to a firm with a higher bid is a blatant lie. To write that Amaechi abandoned the PH monorail before his administration ended is another blatant lie. To write that he dissolved his cabinet just so he could award an inflated contract is another audacious and daring lie. To write that Ghana awarded a similar project at a lower cost is another blatant lie. The first thing wike said when he became governor in 2015 was that he wouldn't pump any more money into the monorail and he woud abandon it. I remember contributing to the thread on that topic in 2015 and blasting Wike. Ghanians were even in Nigeria last quarter to monitor progress on the Lagos ibadan link as they're using the same contractor as we are. The part that autojosh saw as a headline for the ghanians was a section of the rail which would obviously be cheaper, not the entire length as in Lagos to Ibadan. Autojosh should better take this smelling nonsense article full of lies off his blog before someone calls the attention of Amaechi to it. Amaechi doesn't take nonsense from people. He will see this article and sue you to court. Nairaland mods should also beware as you're also liable. Bros, google it. The same report is on most news media. People like you are the biggest problem of this country. Not our leaders. https://thenationonlineng.net/abandoned-rivers-state-monorail-project/

The Lagos-Ibadan railway that the OP highlighted has been a talking point even before the last cabinet was dissolved. Why do we take offence when these thieves are exposed? 9jaRealist: The article seems merely a case of POOR reporting... The colloquial language employed is in direct CONTRAST to the substance.
Starting from your last underlined paragraph, and going on for the next 6 paragraphs... Every uttered sentence indicates a CREDIT against tax liability (hence a tax credit), rather than a holiday.
A tax holiday means there will be no tax liability accrued at all... While a tax credit means that tax liability will accrue but will be OFFSET against the value of the project. > I see your point. However, this definition I googled seems to oppose your point that a tax-holiday is a TOTAL exception from tax.

Politics › Re: Yemi Osinbajo: 3 Lagos Road Projects He's Passionate About & The Contractors by allsaint2000: 5:24pm On Jun 10, 2019 |
9jaRealist: Please stop repeating the highlighted misinformation... It's NOT a tax holiday, but a tax CREDIT (offset against audited tax liability) over 3 years (not 10 years).
For clarification sake, this contract is a PPP under Executive Order No. 07 of 2019 which provides that private infrastructure providers shall be able to offset actual audited tax liabilities accrued over any 3-year period within the 10-year lifespan of the Executive Order (which expires in 2029) by taking a credit against such tax liabilities, up to the contract amount involved in each of the covered projects There are presently 6 companies availing themselves of the tax credit provided under Executive Order No. 7. (in addition to the Dangote Group, the others are Lafarge Africa Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Nigeria LNG Limited, and China Road and Bridge Corporation Nigeria Ltd.) by financing the construction of 19 federal road projects in 11 states across each of the six geopolitical zones. > You are right. It is 3 years, not 10. But I thing you were wrong, it is not a tax credit. but a tax-holiday. https://www.thecable.ng/dangote-get-3-year-tax-relief-apapa-oworonshoki-road
