ShymX: Discerning minds should be able to read the handwriting on the wall. Most Igbo's subtly believe they have a stake in Lagos and that they can swindle it from the Yoruba's. The events of the last few weeks have added more credence to that assertion. I had a discussion with my dad over the weekend and we talked about the same issue. And I honestly think that the faux sense of entitlement is suicidal being that Lagos is surrounded by Yoruba states and the population of Igbo's in Lagos can't be more than 20% (and that's being generous). Also, the two roads out of Lagos - towards the East go through Ijebuland (then Ondo), and the Ijebu's at large are part and parcel of Lagos. So evidently Igbo's would be fighting against 3 layers of Yoruba's to the East - 3 layers to the West - and gazillion layers to the North and hinterland Yoruba states. That would make Rwanda look like child's play when it's all said and done.

So the wise thing to do, is to settle for a negotiated settlement, where Igbo investments in Lagos would be kept for them, after the inevitable disintegration - in lieu of a promise to respect the Yoruba culture/tradition and territorial integrity. However, if they want to take it to the battlefield - best believe it would winner takes all and a lose-lose situation.

As for Rivers, don't hold your breathe. Igbo's would definitely want access to the sea and the sense of superiority that Ijaws are a minority group, with a less population would enhance the need to overpower them. You and I know that the black man acts based on emotions and not thinking thinks through, before acting. We've become effeminate beings since the mid-century and it's not going to change any time soon.

PS: I know you're Afam's alter ego and you're Igbo. Just discussing all eventualities with you.

The matter is not if the disintegration is going to happen, it's about when. The country is already sitting on a c4 and it's only a matter of time before it explodes.

Anyway, if and when it happens, the biggest battle would be the battle for Lagos and Rivers. I omitted Abuja because most of the other ethnic groups don't care about the place except the Northerners and Igbo's. And I know the Igbo's are innately scared of the North - so they won't challenge them for Abuja.

As for Lagos, I think Igbo's want it as part of their Biafra. However, I still don't understand why a group would a place at the heart of another man's territory. That would be some bloody genocidal war that would probably end up at the UN and Hague. Igbo's and Ijaw's would slug it out in Rivers - that would also be interesting.

To be honest, most Nigerian elites and groups are already planning ahead for war, hence why there has been a major inflow of weapons in the country. The Ijaws are definitely ready for all eventuality, don't sleep on them. Same for the North. I believe Yoruba's are also secretly planning ahead. Heck, they've got Benin republic across the border to supply them with anything they want due to historical/cultural affinity with the people there.
