SmartPolician: What do you want us to do with this piece of information? Obviously, there's nothing we can do about it. The man has been totally clueless. Thank God he's even doing something now.
Ohakim wasted billions of Naira then on dredging Nworie river for beach city. Uzodinma is like he is planning to hand power over to Ohakim to continue with Ohakim/Uzodinma style - Owerri must remain the only modern city of Imo state.
Kingpele: The only region that need just one more state is south east...but instead of this greedy people ,be allowed to have more states, they should not create more states at all....the greed for oil money that comes from South south and south east is the reason for more state...I think what national Assembly should have done is to make law for resource control, let States use their resources to develop their States and pay 30 percent to FG ..if that happens, some States will merge as one....
A sixth state from Imo and Anambra States in the southeast is all that Nigeria needs. But each time it's mentioned, others come up with unscrupulous demands for new states.
The false impression that land mass is a paraameter used for state creation is distorting the political power balance upon which the three regions formed Nigeria 🇳🇬 in 1960.
Next will be dredging Nworie river in Owerri to get a beach city.
Gov Hope Uzodinma pouring the federal allocations to Imo state on Owerri soil building what comes to his fancy.
But he demolishes all ancient relics in Orlu, from Fire Service Station to NEPA buildings to NITEL headquarters to closure of Orlu campus of Imopoly ... - no promise to build anything on the demolished site.
SmartPolician: I thought Hope Uzodinma appointed CCP his aide on social media. Why can't he advise his boss to build a world-class hospital in his state?
Every second, they run off overseas to treat malaria and typhoid because they think they can afford it. They obviously learnt nothing from the COVID-19 lockdown.
At least Hope Uzodinma got a federal university teaching hospital for Imo state only for him to place the teaching hospital on the same premises with Federal Medical Centre in his adopted hometown, Owerri; as if no facility exists elsewhere outside Owerri in Imo state to locate the teaching hospital.
ToriTori247: The Orlu Zonal Progressive Union (OZPU), Abuja chapter, has elected a new executive council to steer the affairs of the union, with Chief Marcel Ezenwa emerging as President-General (PG).
The election, which drew wide participation from members across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been described as a significant step towards strengthening unity, fostering development, and advancing the collective aspirations of the Orlu people.
Addressing journalists shortly after his victory, Chief Ezenwa expressed gratitude to members of the union for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as the beginning of a “new dawn” for Orlu people in Abuja and at home in Imo State.
“This mandate is a call to service. It is not about me, but about us as a people. I urge all sons and daughters of Orlu, both in Abuja and back home, to come together in unity. Our progress as a people can only be achieved when we stand as one, setting aside differences and working for the greater good of our community,” he stated.
Chief Ezenwa pledged that the new executive is fully prepared to collaborate with the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in driving initiatives that will bring development and empowerment to the Orlu zone.
He also appealed to lawmakers representing the area at the National Assembly to unite and work in synergy with stakeholders, emphasizing that such cooperation was vital to harnessing opportunities for the benefit of the zone.
“This is a time for collaboration, a time for vision, and a time for action. With unity, commitment, and purposeful leadership, we will build a stronger Orlu, a more prosperous community, and a brighter future for generations to come,” he declared.
The election of the new leadership is expected to inject fresh energy into the affairs of the union, which has served as a rallying point for Orlu indigenes in Abuja. Stakeholders believe that the new administration will consolidate past gains while charting a bold path toward greater achievements.
With the new executive in place, members of the union and the wider Orlu community are looking forward to a period of renewed unity, shared vision, and tangible progress.
In the same Orlu, there is no federal presence. No federal secondary school or poly or uniiversity. Every federal housing estate to Imo is diverted to villages in Owerri.
Gov can pave the streets of Owerri with gold, but where will the plaudits come from? There is no federal presence in Orlu and the entire zone. No sports stadium, no fire service, no federal housing, Orlu urban roads are like in civil war era; Imo adjudged the most educationally advanced state can never have its people accept the FALSEHOOD that governors are meant to develop only the state capital.
It's not going to be a sin if IMSG reconstructs even 10% of the internal urban roads in Orlu. Imo state of only one modern city - Owerri - is an affront to Nd'Imo who have sufficient intelligence quotient.
SmartPolician: That will be a great move. There's no point creating another state from a tiny SE region
Owerri man. If they used land mass as criterion for state creation, Imo state would not have been large enough to be made a state. You come online to sell snake oil. You know very well that land mass is not considered when configuring federating units like states in a Federation of diverse regions.
Nobody can make Anioma in the Southsouth become the sixth state for the southeast. Ani them want to further reduce the political representation of people of southeast at the National level. Orji Uzor Kalu does not understand a thing.. Nobody should take his support for Anioma serious. Ned Nwoko is trying to use the Anioma State for the outheast to fool some Igbos in the southeast.
.... "As the Chief Security Officer of Edo State, it is the Governor’s constitutional..." ----- Edo gov. Lie. The state governors are PSEUDO chief security officer of their respective states in Nigeria.
The centralised police force answers to the president, not to governors.
jedisco: Crap. If the lung cancer was the cause of his symptoms for 8yrs, he'd had been long gone.
The focus should be on pressurising the government to equip and invest in the local workforce. Healthcare, security and economic growth are things you can't import. We'd have to build capacity.
How do we build capacity in Nigeria without adequate electricity supply, in the midst of insecurity, hunger and plunging education standards?
NaijaNaWaa: Otti spoke like the intellectual that he is. Very sound, unassailable argument although the South East deserves an additional state. Other than that, there’s absolutely no reason to create additional states.
And the ANIM state from Imo and Anambra States mentioned here merits the additional state in the southeast, going from how the five SE states were created in the past.
