Why would you want to make Anioma a state in the southeast? Geopolitical zone is not a tribal formation. There are Yoruba cities and tribes in the Northcentral Geopolitical zone. Anioma state can only come to be for the southsouth. Don't mind those Igbos of Biafla or death who believe that Anioma state taken to the southeast shall increase the war chest of Biafra agitators. Such Igbos in the southeast are the only Igbos who clamour for Anioma as sixth state for the southeast zone.

Due to rising tensions around the burial of the late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, ordered schools in Nnewi to close for a week.

This decision was made to prevent any possible violence after reports surfaced that non-state actors had threatened to disrupt the burial if certain issues were not resolved.

The tension increased on Wednesday evening when gunmen attacked Nnewi, killing several people and burning a vehicle. The attack, which happened around 7:30 p.m., caused panic as residents ran for safety.

The burial, scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, in Umuanuka village, Otolo Nnewi, led the state government to issue a circular on Thursday. It instructed all schools in the Nnewi area to remain closed until the following Tuesday. Parents were also asked to keep their children, especially day students, at home for safety.

The Anambra State Police Command denied claims that the attack was related to the burial. Police spokesperson Superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga explained that the incident was not caused by non-state actors, as rumored. Instead, it was the result of a gunfight between security operatives and a suspect at a checkpoint.

The heavy military presence at the burial was expected, as it aimed to maintain peace and order.

The losing politicians of 2020 in Imo state started in Orlu to attack armed forces in moving vehicle in other to attract more armed forces to fight in Orlu. Eventually, local people started to resist both groups. That led to a protracted fight that extended to southern Anambra State. But at every encounter between the three groups, they say IPOB fighters.
