A young women disappears as the earth suddenly open up and swallowed a her while walking towards bus stop in the city of Lanzhou.

Her feet give way and she disappears into the ground, just a couple of feet away from stunned witnesses.

The unnamed woman appears to hit her head on the way down as her body vanishes from view. Later on in the footage, an onlooker leans over the side of the hole and films her half buried in mud several metres underground.

She is still conscious and desperately calls out for help. Emergency responders eventually rescued her from the hole and took her to hospital, where she was treated for two broken ribs.

The death toll recorded from a wildfire in Northern California has risen to more than a dozen people and Hundreds missing, making it the deadliest the state has ever seen.


More than 20 bodies have been found so far from that fire, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea told a news briefing on Sunday evening. Nearly 230 people were still unaccounted for, he said.


At least five search teams were working in Paradise – a town of 27,000 that was largely incinerated on Thursday – and in surrounding communities. Authorities called in a mobile DNA lab and anthropologists to help identify victims of the most destructive wildfire in California
history.

By early afternoon, one of the two black hearses stationed in Paradise had picked up another set of remains. People looking for friends or relatives called evacuation centres, hospitals, police and the coroner’s office.


Governor Jerry Brown said California is requesting aid from Donald Trump’s administration. The president has blamed ‘poor’ forest management for the fires.


Mr Brown told a press briefing that federal and state governments must do more forest management, but said that was not the source of the problem. ‘Managing all the forests in everywhere we can does not stop climate change,’ Mr Brown said. ‘And those who deny that are definitely contributing to the tragedies that we’re now witnessing, and will continue to witness in the coming years.’

An air stewardess was cautured on camera breastfeeding a crying baby after the mother ran out of milk (baby formula milk) shortly after take-off. Patrisha Organo, 24, was on an early-morning flight from the Philippines when she recognised trauma in the baby’s cry. The stewardess has a nine-month-old baby herself and went up to the mother to lend a helping hand.

Patrisha said: ‘As soon as I heard the child’s cry, I knew there had to be something that I could do to help. ‘When the mother told me that she no formula milk for the child, and I knew that there was none on board, I knew I had to help. ‘I knew that I could offer my own milk, as I had been breastfeeding my young child myself, so offered up my services.


‘The mother of the child was so thankful for me helping, as she had been at the airport since 9.00pm the previous night. ‘As soon as the baby started rooting and feeding from me, I saw the relief on the mother’s eyes and eventually her daughter fell asleep.’ The 24-year-old said she knew what the mum would be going through, especially on a flight which had just taken off.

If you want to know what the future says about how our toilets are going to look like, then Billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates has given us a glinse about it.

Gates unvieled a futuristic toilet that doesn’t need water or sewers and uses chemicals to turn human waste into fertilizer. The mega-rich philanthropist is known for this potty-minded obsession with all things lavatorial, having famously swigged ‘poo water’ to prove sewage could be turned into drinkable H2O.

The toilet is about to go on sale and is the brainchild of research projects funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s biggest private philanthropy organisation. When Gates announced the new loo on Twitter, he admitted he ‘loved’ discussing toilets.


it may interest you to know that poor sanitation kills half a million children under the age of five annually and costs the globe over $200 billion a year in healthcare costs and lost income, according to the foundation.

There are multiple designs of the new toilet, but all work by separating liquid and solid waste. ‘The current toilet simply sends the waste away in the water, whereas these toilets don’t have the sewer,’ Gates said. ‘They take both the liquids and solids and do chemical work on it, including burning it in most cases.’ He compared the change from traditional toilets to waterless models as similar to development in computing around the time he founded Microsoft in the mid-1970s.

A 10-year-old girl from Wisconsin appeared in court with handcuffs as she taken into custody over the murder of a six-month-old baby. The girl is alleged to have stamped on the boy’s head at a daycare centre and has been charged with first degree intentional homicid3. Police said that they received a call from a caretaker saying that they had found the boy bleeding from the head and unresponsive.

He was taken to hospital in St Paul Minnesota where he was later pronounced dead

Police told the Star Tribune that four children and an adult had been questioned and they all pointed the finger at the 10-year-old girl. She was arrested and later admitted that she hurt the baby saying that she dropped him.
