During a weekend event, a newly appointed Iranian governor was slapped on the stage by an official who walked over to him.

When the incident happened, Zeinolabedin Khorram, the new governor of East Azerbaijan region, was on stage giving a speech at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tabriz, in the northeastern region of Azerbaijan.

A video released by Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency shows a man calmly approached Khorram, slapping him across the face, and then shoving him.

Security guards rushed at the offender and pulled him off the stage.

The country’s Interior Minister, representatives from Ayatollah Khamenei’s office, and other state authorities all observed the embarrassing event. Watch Video

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that 33 Nigerian banks have joined the eNaira platform, with the apex bank minting N500 million in digital currency.

Ememfiele made the remarks at a ceremony at the presidential palace on Monday to launch Nigeria’s Central Bank Digital Currency, stating that the platform had seen a surge in users.

“33 banks are fully integrated and live on the platform,” he said. “The Bank has successfully minted 500 million, issued N200 million to financial institutions, onboarded over 2,000 customers, and over 120 merchants have successfully registered on the eNaira platform.”...continue reading...

Friday Igbegbe, a former Ijaw militant leader, is said to have committed suicide following a lengthy struggle with depression in Warri, Delta state.

On Saturday evening, October 23, Igbegbe, a titleholder from Igbe-Ijoh, Warri, reportedly took the drastic step.

He is believed to have left behind 36 children and numerous “women,” many of whom were apparently not there during his struggle.

The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi’s Governing Council has sacked two lecturers who were found guilty of sexually harassing their students.

This decision was made at the Polytechnic’s Governing Council’s 98th meeting, which held on Saturday, October 23.

Musa Baba Abubakar of the General Studies Department and Adebusoye Michael Sunday of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department are among the dismissed lecturers.

The move comes after a Human Rights Organization, Prison Inmate Development (PIDI Nigeria), filed a complaint accusing the institution’s management of attempting to hide Mr. Musa Baba Abubakar, who is known for sexually harassing female students.
