SportsWe Sacked Keshi To Save His Life – NFF. by Ambi25(op): 4:13pm On Oct 18, 2014
President of the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick
has said that Coach Stephen Keshi was sacked to safeguard
him from the wrath of enraged Nigerian fans, who were on the
brink of lynching him during Wednesday's 2015 Africa Cup of
Nations qualifier with Sudan.

Pinnick and other NFF Executive Committee members watched
with awe, as fans pelted Keshi with water bottles and stones as they demanded for the head of the 2013 AFCON winner at
the Abuja National Stadium, venue of the match, which Nigeria won 3-1 to keep alive
their hopes of qualifying for next year&39;s tournament in Morocco.
https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/keshi-1.jpg

Chants of "Keshi must
go,"sack Keshi" and "we don't want Keshi again" rented the air
as fans went overdrive in their
bid to get their voices heard by the NFF, who swiftly swung into
action in the wee hours of yesterday by axing the former
Togo and Mali coach.

And speaking when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of
Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo yesterday, Pinnick
explained the personal safety of
Keshi was considered more important than anything else.

Pinnck, it was learnt told the Minister that he was shocked
with the hostile reception of the
fans towards Keshi, arguing that it would be dangerous for
Keshi to remain as coach in the face of uch hostility.

HealthMap: Where Ebola Is Likely To Go Next by Ambi25(op): 1:17pm On Oct 14, 2014
Ebola already reached the US when a patient was diagnosed in Texas on September 30. But where is
the disease likely to go next?
A map from MOBS Lab and Northeastern University shows the risks:
To develop these estimates, researchers used a computer
model that tracks the
frequency of international traffic to different countries,
the progression of the
disease in already affected countries, and the incubation
time and other aspects of Ebola. The estimates will be
updated as the epidemic continues.

Outside of Africa, the risk is relatively high in the UK and France, but thankfully very low in India and China. The more
advanced health-care systems in the UK and France are much better equipped to deal with an Ebola outbreak, while less advanced systems in
China and particularly India, which also have considerably bigger populations to manage, could struggle to deal with an epidemic.

Peter Piot, who helped discover and name the virus, told the Guardian about his concerns with an outbreak in India:
But an outbreak in
Europe or North
America would quickly be brought under control. I am more worried about the many people from
India who work in
trade or industry in
west Africa. It would
only take one of them
to become infected,
travel to India to visit
relatives during the
virus's incubation
period, and then, once
he becomes sick, go to
a public hospital there.

Doctors and nurses in
India, too, often don't
wear protective gloves.
They would immediately become
infected and spread
the virus.
As Vox's Julia Belluz previously explained, this is one of the
nightmare Ebola scenarios that keeps scientists up at
night. It's good, then, that the chance of Ebola spreading toIndia and China seems fairly remote.

According to world health
Organisation(WHO)
Ebola virus disease (EVD),
formerly known as Ebola
haemorrhagic fever,
is a severe, often fatal illness in
humans.
The virus is transmitted to
people from wild animals and
spreads in
the human population through
human-to-human transmission.

The average EVD case fatality
rate is around 50%. Case fatality
rates
have varied from 25% to 90%
in past outbreaks.
The first EVD outbreaks
occurred in remote villages in
Central Africa,
near tropical rainforests, but
the most recent outbreak in
west Africa
has involved major urban as
well as rural areas.

Community engagement is key
to successfully controlling
outbreaks.
Good outbreak control relies on
applying a package of
interventions,
namely case management,
surveillance and contact tracing,
a good
laboratory service, safe burials
and social mobilisation.

Early supportive care with
rehydration, symptomatic
treatment improves survival.
There is as yet no licensed
treatment proven to neutralise
the virus
but a range of blood,
immunological and drug
therapies are under
development.
There are currently no licensed
Ebola vaccines but 2 potential
candidates are undergoing
evaluation.
The infection is getting severe
as it infect five people every
hour in freetown
