ABUJA (Federal Ministry of Aviation Report) https://www.nigeria.gov.ng/images/Osita-Chidoka-519x336.jpg The Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has launched the Aviation Passenger Service (APS) Portal and Aviation Helpline to facilitate the transformation of the aviation sector into a customer-centric industry. During the event, the Minister of Aviation noted that the Aviation Passenger Service and Helpline are the programmes designed by him as part of his administration's commitment to providing a one-stop platform for the airborne public to access needed information about airline operations and services in Nigerian airports. Chidoka averred that the APS Portal is a reliable source of verified information intended to empower airborne passengers within and outside Nigeria with accurate data to enable them make informed decisions and plan their journeys. He further stated that it will serve as channel to create positive passenger experience in trip planning and thereafter. Adding, with the launch of the APS Portal, interested members of the public would be able to search for flights on any routes of their choice within the country as it would permit interested persons in the aviation business to submit complaints, suggestions and commendations to the Ministry and its agencies. He informed that the portal will enable feedback on issues pertaining to domestic airlines and other occurrences at the airports in the country for appropriate intervention by relevant officials. The 2015 general elections provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders to harness the potentails of young people for credible elections and democratic development. Conversely, it avails young people the a strategic platform to unleash their potentials as voters, aspirants/candidates and election management officials. The Independent National Electoral Commission recognizes the critical role young people play in deepening electoral democracy. This recognition is exhibited in the decision of the present leadership of the commission headed by Professor Attahiru Jega to mainstream youth in election management. Introduction At its coming into being in 1891, Nigeria Customs Service was saddled with the responsibilities of revenue collection, accounting for same and anti smuggling activities. Today trade facilitation has become a fundamental role, progressively seen by government as an important element of economic policy, with Customs having a unique position within the hub of the international supply chain of goods and services. Consequently, one of the challenges to Nigeria Customs Service is the proactive management of the seeming contradictory role of ensuring improvements in speedy delivery of services, while maintaining systematic and effective intervention controls, necessary to meet the demands of complex and growing international trade, characterized in recent times by economic crime, money laundering, menace of terrorism, threatening weapons of mass destruction, violation of intellectual property rights, and dumping of toxic and hazardous substances. It is apparent therefore, that Nigeria Customs Service that has for long been a steward of the nation's trade and border management is not only under pressure like never before, but now has an enlarged role to perform at the highest levels, to facilitate legitimate trade in a global environment harbouring a litany of threats. Nigeria Customs Service has the mission to provide services in ways that maximize efficiency and promote trade competitiveness wherein declarations are promptly processed. Our Mission *.Nigeria Customs Service is a reference and model administration with excellence in providing effective and efficient service to accomplish all dimensions of its mission. *.That the Service is a modern, compact and dynamic Service that influences policy and contributes to Nigeria development. *.That the Service is recognized as being in the vanguard of Customs best practices and international standards. Current Situation The Nigeria Customs Service statutory functions can be broadly classified into two main categories namely, core and other functions: click here to see more: http://nigeriacurrentaffairs1..com/2014/11/mission-vision-of-nigeria-custom.html |
