This anti-corruption crusade is clearly not addressed at curtailing corruption. Its primary objective is to kill and bury the PDP. Not even the most ardent supporters of Jonathan would insist that there was not rampant corruption under the PDP. What is unacceptable is the present government’s pretence that corruption in Nigeria is restricted to the PDP when, as a matter of fact, the APC is just as corrupt, if not even more because of its blatant hypocrisy.

The government’s anti-corruption crusade is already without legitimacy because it is unashamedly partial and selective. Allegations made against APC office-holders are procedurally ignored by the government’s anti-corruption watchdogs. Some of the APC chieftains accused of corruption have even been rewarded with major ministerial portfolios. Others have been nominated as APC candidates in governorship elections.
It would be unpatriotic of me not to invite the likes of TheV0ice, PassingShot and of course, the Obtuse Rawani to this Inaugural lecture.

PoliticsWe Killed Seven Zaria Shiites To Save Buratai – Army by AMBIVERT(op): 8:42am On Dec 15, 2015
The Nigerian Army has said its men shot dead about seven members of the Shiite sect in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday while 10 other members of the group were wounded in the bid of the soldiers to ward off an alleged attack by the sect’s members on the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.

The Army said the shooting by the troops accompanying the COAS convoy was “in line with the Rules of Engagement” to save the life of Buratai from “heavily armed” members of the Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky-led Shiite sect.

This was contained in the ‘Occurrence Report’, prepared by the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police and attached to a petition submitted by the office of the COAS to the headquarters of the National Human Rights Commission in Abuja on Monday.

The petition, dated December 14, 2015, with the title, ‘Letter of complaint against Shiite sect attack on the Chief of Army Staff,’ and with reference number NA/COAS/G1/52, was signed by Col. F.U. Mijinyawa on behalf of the COAS.

The petition was addressed to the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Prof. Ben Angwe, who received the representative of the COAS, Maj. Gen. Adamu Abubakar, in his office in Abuja on Monday.

The petition stated that over 500 members of the sect rushed out to barricade the road while the COAS was on his way from Dutse to pay homage to the Emir of Zazzau before proceeding to attend the Passing Out Parade of the 73 Regular Recruit Intake.

The Occurrence Report, with reference number HQ NACMP/G1/300167, detailed how the Shiite group members “heavily barricaded” the road, allegedly preventing the convoy of the COAS from passing through for a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau.

The report stated that members of the sect were “heavily armed with dangerous weapons, ranging from long swords, knives, daggers, sticks, iron rods to catapult” at about 2.30pm on Saturday around the Polo/Golf Court on Sokoto Road, where they mounted the barricade in Zaria.

It added that the group defied the soldiers’ warning shots and allegedly started hauling dangerous weapons towards the troops while also planning to launch a “petrol bomb” attack against the COAS’ convoy.

The report added, “However, troops were wary of the group being armed with guns. Some members of the COAS entourage disembarked to approach the armed group to talk with them to remove the barricade to allow free passage.

“All entreaties fell on deaf ears as they insisted that they had to contact their leader, El-Zakzaky, before the COAS would be allowed passage.

“However, as this was going on, unknown to the convoy, some of the members of the group had positioned themselves at strategic locations around the vicinity. A few of the group members had started crawling in the overgrown grasses by the roadside towards the COAS vehicle, with the intent to attack the vehicle with petrol bomb.

“Subsequently, they suddenly resorted to firing gunshots from the direction of the mosque and hauling dangerous weapons towards the troops. Despite the troops firing warning shots, the El-Zakzaky’s group continued attempting to forge towards the troops.

“The troops immediately responded in line with Rules of Engagement as the life of the VIP (COAS) was seriously threatened.

“Troops had to shoot their way through up to the Zaria Post Office area by PZ to provide a safe corridor for the COAS and the convoy to pass through before the arrival of the reinforcement from the Depot of NA.

“Sequel to the above, about seven of the members of the group were shot dead and the COAS directed that the 10 wounded be evacuated to the Depot NA Medical Centre for treatment while all exhibit items such as swords, knives, cell phones be recovered from the scene.”

The report stated that the exhibit items were handed over to the Nigeria Police.

“Furthermore, the Nigerian Army School of Military Police Provost Admin Coy was directed to investigate along with the Nigeria Police,” it stated.

It added that a detailed report would be forwarded to the commission when the investigation was concluded.

Angwe assured the visitors that the NHRC would conduct detailed independent investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff said on Monday that he escaped the Shiites attack on his convoy by the special grace of God.

The Army chief told journalists in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with the Senate Committee on Defence alongside the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, and other top officials of the Defence ministry, that the Shiite members were really violent.

He said, “You want to know how I escaped? It was by the will of God that I was able to escape from that place. I think the NTA was there and it aired the clip; it was very clear.

“They were violent, definitely this is very clear, the clips are there. That was what happened.”

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Samaila Aliyu, said the ministry would pay N10.6bn as judgment debts but did not give details of the beneficiaries.

He said, “We have judgements that have been delivered against us. Some have gone up to the Supreme Court. One is for N8.5bn and the other is for N2.1bn. We have backed the request with copies of the judgments.”

Meanwhile, they've succeded in roping me into their usual diversionary tactic without providing clear cut answers as to what the current FG is doing and how it has impacted the masses thus far. We are yet to see and know what sector of the populace is currently applauding Buhari's initiatives.
It's seven months gone.
Seven months of media and mob trials.
Seven months of selective vendettas and media governance.
Where is the change really?
If any, is it retrogressive or progressive...

Alas, this remains an open ended question.

Rawani:
Do you honestly expect any further responses from any sane rational mind, despite the admitted fact that your affinity for Jonathan and his administration is not based on logic/rationality/common sense but emotion and sentiments? Especially taking cognizance of the fact that the essence of this thread is comparative?

Sorry miz, I speak logic, not estrogen.
C'monn Rawani, don't be silly!!!

1. Every sane mind takes decisions based on the rational or irrational; emotions inclusive. Logic is not a bad thing, emotions isn't either. Where it's necessary, both are applied...
Matter of fact, we are emotional beings and as such required to possess emotional intelligence.‎
Denigrating anyone who shows controlled emotion is insanity on the part of the denigrator.
Are you insane?‎

2. That I support GEJ for more personal cum emotional/ideological than informed/logical reasons does not mean I do not have any logical reason for supporting‎ him. I am being humble enough to admit that if I were to go strictly logical/informed....GEJ and DMB do not and CANNOT pass the test. So I compromised.
Doesn't mean I've lost my sense of rationality.

It is a fact and on record that GEJ is the only president Post independence who fostered democratic tenets and ideologies. GEJ is one president who gave women a BIG chance in governance. For the first time, Nigerians have access to any information concerning governance via the FOI bill...
GEJ transformed our educational institutions..
For the first time, our imports reduced by 30-40% Agricultural production went on a rise. Educational and business friendly policies were introduced. YOUWIN was masses centric and it was accessible to just about anyone. From 4000 kilometres of roads to 25000 kilometers of roads...even my neighbourhood wasn't left out in the transformation process. So when I say I support the man, I have tangible and Intangible reasons...capisce?
3.‎ This thread is not comparative. We have admitted the rot and sleaze in the GEJ led FG, now we want to know what APC is doing to move us forward.

When you say I have no moral ground to question this administration, I ask you, do they have a moral ground for taxing me and the members of my family?

PoliticsRe: 7 Months Later; Is Nigeria Getting Worse Or Better Under Buhari? by AMBIVERT(f): 10:28pm On Dec 13, 2015
Rawani:
I believe we have addressed these issues in the recent past...

The challenges are immense, but you should recognize, appreciate and acknowledge the degree of the rot you handed over as well.

Who failed to solve the electricity problem which we have inherited, and failed to restore the refineries and instead wasted billions of dollars in scam off-shore processing agreements which Diezani and co. used to fleece this country, ultimately causing perennial fuel scarcities all through his tenure? The aftermath is what we live with today.

Who failed to diversify our economy from oil in the time of oil-price boom, and emptied our foreign reserves through a combination of corruption and incapacity to lead which ended in him being tricked by his governors to share the SWF? The DIRECT aftermath of these are the economic troubles we are facing today under low oil prices, and high exchange rates which our efforts to control is resulting in our ejection from bond indexes.

Who supervised the looting and  mismanagement of of the defence budget through his aides (Dasuki n co.) which seriously hampered the fight against BH, and resulted in the loss of thousands of lives? The failure to fight the terrorists with political will and sincerity, resulted in their blossoming and is the reason we are still fighting them today.

You see, while we are not blind to the realities that face us today, its is an insult to conscience, logic and common sense for the same set of people that wanted all of the above and more to continue till 2019, to come and pontificate about good governance while condemning a President that inherited these challenges just seven months ago.

Put simply, you lack the moral capital to admonish or condemn Buhari or Buharists.

Enjoy your evening  smiley.

1. Who handed what over?
What are you saying? Did you see me campaign for Jonathan? Did you see me tell anyone anywhere that he is the solution to Nigeria's problem?
I knew from the word go that Jona and Buhari were misfits for the job. I only chose a lesser devil.
[kindly refer to a previous post on this thread on what informed the choice I made in Jonathan].

Agreed there was rot, sleaze and corruption, as equally obtainable in APC governed states pre and post 2015. What is the way forward?‎

2. ‎He failed to solve electricity problems but did a lot in terms of building energy infrastructure which the current government is consolidating on. Rawani, name one masses-centric Buharistic achievement without GEJ's smile plastered all over it...I'm waiting.

3. Lies! ‎
It was towards the end of GEJ's tenure that I saw fuel scarcity...as in real fuel scarcity. The reason was because‎ the markets created the scarcity because they felt the new government would not pay them what they were owed, so the plan was to recoup all they would have lost. During December last year, was there fuel scarcity? Buhari complained that Nigeirans should not be sleeping in fuel stations, but under his watch, Nigerians not only sleep, they wine and dine in fuel stationsundecided

4. More lies!
For the first time under GEJ, we had automobile companies re-setup shop. We saw our foods cheaper.‎ Railways received life, our airports wore a new look, we had better roads, I could go on and on....yet, even with these, I still feel that Jona didn't perform upto expected expectations.
Pray tell, what has Buhari done, what is he doing?

5. Well, you are right, unfortunately, I am not in that category. I have called out the GEJ led FG for their impunity, I have expressed my disappointment. Buhari has won, 7 months ago. Now, Whether as the proposition or opposition, we all have a herculean task of Nation building before us.

6. I will do same criticism and more as far as Buhari is concerned whenever I think there's a need to.
I am a tax paying bonafide Nigerian, he and all my leaders are accountable‎ to me, whether I voted them or not...capisce?
After all, no one has told me to stop paying taxes because I didn't vote Buhariundecided

For reasons very personal to me, I decided to stop positive affirmation of any individual in this section. ‎If I have any positive opinion about anyone, I stomach it and pass it away at the loo. But you have earned it, so here goes...

‎Unlike most Buharists I know (except you have an account with which you use to perpetrate evil on here), you seem different. You are not insultive. I wonder why that is though. I guess I'm this surprised because, I'm at a place in my life journey where I've decided to let out negative energies..both those I've held back and those that come in fresh...so sometimes, I deliberately sound provoked/provocative so I can use someone as target practice. You are/were one of them, but you actually got me feeling comfortable arguing with you. It felt like a dream I must wake up from.
I'm almost tempted to request that we become e-friends, but NO tongue..... I will resist the urge.‎ The few Buharist friendships I've forged here haven't panned out so well. Nothing's gon take me down that road again.

I've held this perception for a while now, that MOST Buharists are bilish, vituperative, hateful and hypocritical. Always insultive.
You seem different.
Kudos.
Now Let's go back to fighting, Shall We? angryangry

Mister (Since you're not Mr Man and Young Man), if you notice, I did not bother quoting all your GEJ tantrums. This thread is not about GEJ, it is about APC and the way forward. We agree they have a lot on their plate. The former administration didn't quite perform up to expected expectation, that's why change was voted in.

If you follow my comments on here, you'll notice that I admitted that my preference for Jonathan was more personal cum emotional/ideological than informed/logical.
The reason is because, from the get go, I never quite saw Buhari or GEJ as the solution to Nigeria's problems.
It was during post 2015 elections that I developed this respect and loyalty towards GEJ, mainly due to his utterances which he backed up with action.

On the whole saga/scandal...I have made my position known in another forum where I participate actively too. I refused posting here because of the crass insensitivity and hypocrisy of the Sai Chanters.‎ If you saw it, you'd be shocked and eat this word of yours >>>"You guys, especially you, have your minds made up and are only too happy to see things go worse. "

I kinda feel sad admitting that GEJ was politically weak and non assertive. But it is what it is and we have to move on.

God forbid!
God forbid that I wish this nation ill.
God forbid that I'm happy at the turn of events.
Perchance, is that how you would have felt if GEJ had won? Would you have wished that Nigeria goes up in shambles just to prove that you were right all along for disbelieving in GEJ? ‎

Genlteman, I have been in Nigeria for a while.
The crux here is that, even before elections...things weren't this bad (you and I know)...‎

So what went wrong?
What is APC and Buhari doing?
How are they going about it?
What sectors are being affected?
There's a need to know.‎
